We started brushing C's teeth a couple weeks ago and surprisingly, he LOVES it. Huge smile on his face when he sees the toothbrush and he opens his mouth right up. I'm dreading the day when he hates it lol.

This weekend was insane. We were going non-stop. We had our family pictures on Saturday morning which went well. Afterwards MIL and I took DS school (and toy) shopping all day. Once we got back, my H and I got ready and went out for our anniversary dinner. On Sunday, it was a madhouse as we had DD’s birthday party around lunch and then also hosted my family for dinner for DD’s birthday as well. I was very ready for bed last night.

We had DS's party this weekend, and it was great. Casual breakfast things in the park, and really good coffee from our favorite local place. We did a smash cake, and he probably worked on it for an hour. So much joy! And so many pictures texted to me of my baby with cake all over his face

I'm dreading the day when he hates it lol. He may never hate it. My kids have always been willing to brush their teeth. I think part of the success is early introduction to the toothbrush, but their easy going personalities help, too.

We spent the weekend at my ILs celebrating their 45th anniversary. The kids are worn out from lots of cousin play time.
Last week we moved the two oldest to a bedroom downstairs. Sleep has improved so much for the kids. The 2 year old has his own room (with a queen size bed!) so he can talk and play all he wants at bedtime without disturbing DS1 and DD. DS1 is afraid to go to the basement alone though so that's challenging. He has to have someone down there when he gets dressed or to retrieve something he forgot. I'm not sure how to help him. Keeping all the lights on doesn't help. This fear is nothing new, but it's a bigger annoyance now that his room is down there.

We switched out schedules around this week. We are dropping both kids off early. So I will now get home two hours early and have more time for homework, dinner, baths, etc.
So far the morning went smooth which is completely opposite that it’s been.
Hopefully this is the key to less stress!

My mom's visit was ok. She didn't feel well for about half of her trip. I think she had altitude sickness, but who really knows. Other than that, it was a good.
It's pretty much the most Mondayist Monday ever, but I'm glad to be back in our routine for the most part.

I am so hungry. I'm trying to get life insurance and they're coming to do the medical exam in a few minutes. The instructions said be fasting so I am. I'm stuffing my face asap after this.

Ugh Charlie has been clinging to me like crazy and crying the past 2 mornings at daycare. He never really did that before. I know it's the age, but it's so sad. And right as I have to go back to work.

klw you have started work, right? How has it been? I started today. We had a welcome breakfast for all of the new hires in the district. Then we had training from 9-3. The morning was a simulation activity about poverty. It was very eye opening.

The morning was a simulation activity about poverty. It was very eye opening. Yes, the first day is almost always meetings. Our district now refers to being "homeless" as "in transition," and I will tell you that I now have a much better understanding of that stress due to our current living situation. And I don't mean that lightly. The stress of living in someone's house is serious and we have enough food/space/beds to live comfortably. I cannot imagine what our poorest families go through when they are in transition. I hope the training gave you some helpful insight in working with impoverished students.

doublestuf, it definitely did. We came together as a group when we finished and they asked us to describe how we felt during the activity. The most used words were...frustrated, helpless, useless, stressed and embarrassed.

DH and I both got slammed with food poisoning so that's been fun. I'm back at work today, but I still have a headache from being dehydrated.
Z is toddling all over the place now. He also started signing all done and saying uh oh. He was busy over the weekend.

We’ve been adjusting back to a school schedule and it’s not going too bad. DS likes kindergarten but he’s definitely tired by the end of the day.
What is everyone’s LOs status on walking? DD is cruising everywhere, climbing on everything, and bear crawls when she’s outside because it’s easier on her knees. But she won’t take any unassisted steps. She can stand unsupported and has stood up on her own but she doesn’t like it.

This week has been pretty hectic. The weekend was crazy, followed by Monday with H's 1 year appointment. I didn't have time to go to the grocery store over the weekend so I feel like we have been eating crap for dinner and lunch for the girls. It's a bad work week for H due to a big release this weekend. He was supposed to stop at the store after work on Tuesday for some basics, but got stuck at work. Yesterday was our 15 year wedding anniversary so he was going to pick up Italian from a yummy restaurant, but had to stay at work. Then got frustrated with me because I didn't have anything planned for dinner. WTH dude. He was supposed to have off today. He was going to do something fun with DD1 and then take her to her back to school night, but now he has to work. So I am leaving early from my school's back to school night so I can get home to take her.

He has not stood up not holding onto something unless he's done it at school. 13 months on September 1st. I think it will be October before he's walking for real. He was close to 8 months before he was really good at sitting up unassisted.

I wouldn't worry until closer to 15 or even 18 months though.

I think it all happened rather quickly, she wasn't cruising for that long prior to her taking steps while my DS was cruising much longer before he tools his first steps.

I don't think we're anywhere close to walking. DD will stand up with assistance but is not interested in cruising or taking steps. She was slow to crawl so I guess it doesn't surprise me. However, I know kiddos can just start doing things quickly once they decide to.

DS3 will be one next week and isn't walking. My other three kids walked before a year so it's reassuring to read that DS3 is still very much within the range of normal. He'll pull himself up on toys and furniture but doesn't walk along them. He just started crawling on all fours in the last couple of weeks.

The pedi said walking by 18 months or they look into it. I definitely think he will be well before that.

Charlie not walking is making me twitchy. He is 13 months and a few days. He has been cruising forever it seems like-a good 2 months? He can stand without holding anything. Last week he stood for a good 20 seconds, kind of shuffled his feet, but took no steps forward, so the balance is there. Problem is he is very successful at scaling his way around a room and he is a crazy quick crawler. We try to get him to come to us, and he just drops down and crawls. And he's not cautious at all, so I don't get it.
DD was walking at 11.5 months. I'm trying hard not to compare them but I failing. Pedi said almost everyone is walking by 15 months and to worry if not by 18 months.

doublestuf DS was exactly like this. Then one day, he just stood up and ran/speed walked. He was 13 months and change. He won't necessarily try something until he knows he can be successful. ETA: He's also not cautious, just a perfectionist, like me. 😂 DD is 12 months and a week and will butt scoot and cruise, furniture or anything she can push, like it's her job. But she is still working on standing unassisted.

pbandjelly I have always said he will run not walk as soon as he takes those first steps. There's really not another in between step, so it's got to happen soon. It'll be interesting to see if he does have perfectionist tendencies!
