I found it in words. This was basically me with Teen Wolf. And the MCU, Doctor Who, Arrow, Hunger Games, and other various fandoms through the years.
Its always weird, feeling a hyperfixation take root.
Like I’ll be watching some movie and all of a sudden, some miswired synapse fires off and a bunch of neurons in the cerebellum go “MINE.”
And I’m like “no, guys, this is mediocre at best,” but it’s too late. They’ve adopted these characters and this universe and there’s no turning back.
I’m going to be thinking about it every hour, of every day, for somewhere between two weeks and five years.
In the span of eight seconds, I’ve gone from “not really paying attention” to “this is going to be part of my identity” and that’s definitely a weird shift to experience.
#god#every fuckin time#and like sometimes an old one will sloowwwwwly fade and nothing new will show up for a while#and i’ll think#‘huh. maybe i am Normal™️ now#but the next thing is right around the corner#rolling up its sleeves to suplex me to the bottom of the marianas trench

Smallville was the shit. I loved that show. Ffc I actually wrote a ridiculously long gratuitously self insert smallville fanfic when I was in high school. I lost it when I backed up my old hard drive onto discs, formatted the drive, and promptly lost the discs. I am still kinda mad about it lol. Do you remember the premise? Sure do. It was all the romantic fantasies a 14 year old girl could think of while wishing tom welling would come save her from biology class. I'm a little fuzzy on the specifics though. I think the high school exploded from a bomb set by lex luthor, she/I got kidnapped and then saved by Clark Kent, there was a vehicle crash involving Lana Lang who tried to run her/me off the road, and there were zero paragraph breaks. Her/my name was Tiffany. Just a wall of text and the worst kind of soap drama.

I haven’t watched any of the DC shows since the early seasons of arrow. I think the last season of arrow I saw was when they started with The Flash. Did that happen or am I imagining that? Lol
MH has watched all the DC and Marvel shows. He has been letting G watch some of supergirl with him and she digs it. But she is 4 so her opinion may be a little off. 😂

I don’t know if this goes here, but has anyone else started watching the new Roswell series? I loved the old one, but LOVE the new one. They mention a lot of current issues like ICE and they have LGBTQ+ characters PLURAL on there. I binged almost the whole first season this weekend.

I liked the first season of Daredevil, but I get tired of really dark shows because they start to become misery porn and I have a minimal amount of time for TV and don't need to fill it all with depressing/graphically violent/gritty/angsty stuff. I watched a little of Jessica Jones and it was interesting, but again darker than I prefer. It's kind of my way of balancing the depressing things in the news, I get enough there and don't need it to fill my leisure time, too. I gave up on the Arrowverse for similar reasons (and just that things weren't as good as they were a year or two ago). Arrow was my freakin jam when I found it. But then it just started to feel so hopeless. Like every big bad has to be worse than the next and nothing ever gets better and its just obstacle after obstacle and death after death. Like damn give me a show about people connecting, finding love and family, and getting happy endings, let them see the light at the end of the tunnel and not just as the final scene in the series finale. EXACTLY! I loved the first couple of seasons of The Flash and Supergirl because they were fun, and they've gotten dark as the years go on. Why can't shows stay fun instead of diving deeper into depressing, dark storylines?

I disliked Liz so much in the first one. I like the new one! I don't know if you used to watch Grey's, but she was DeLuca's girlfriend who had to go to Canada (?) to flee deportation due to her DREAMer status. It took me forever to figure out why she looked familiar.

It was remarkably busy at my suburban Best Buy around 10:30 am this morning....oddly, so many people seemed to be carting around an Endgame 4k or Blu Ray around with them :-) I also was looking at dishwashers (of course mine died the other day) and the sales associate and I not only discussed ranking dishwashers in my price range but Marvel movies. Just like my HVAC installers. Geez, Marvel does rule the world.

I'm very happy to have seen Endgame both at the show and at home. It's a heck of a lot more comfortable to be able to hit pause for a bathroom break, and watching in a more intimate setting really helped me see details that I missed the first times around. And I was still cheering at certain key scenes, and grabbing for Kleenex at so many others.
That said, sharing watching Cap summoning and using Thor's hammer, for example, with a large audience cannot be beat. Also the scene when the portals all opened. So fortunate to be able to do both.
Tomorrow I think I'll watch with commentary on.

Not gonna lie, we both teared up during the Stan Lee tribute featurette. It's very well done. I'll probably watch the movie with commentary tomorrow while I'm home alone. I love listening to commentaries, but my husband gets bored.

The board has been kinda slow and I have tons of fandom thoughts but not much that is its own thread worthy lol but I dont want to clog up our other randoms thread. So voila! We tried to get into the original Roswell but I cant remember why we stopped. But I have been looking for a new show so maybe we'll give the new one a go.

We've been debating buying Endgame because I just havent been as invested in Marvel as I used to be. Civil War did a number on me. I havent even seen FFH yet, but my sister said it was good. But listening to the commentary might be worth it! You guys have convinced me. Well done!

I shall listen to the commentary tomorrow and report back. I can say that the movie is worth it for the Stan Lee tribute alone. The Black Widow and the girl power featurettes are pretty awesome too. My husband also really enjoyed the Iron Man featurette, since he's a big IM fan.

I haven't seen FFH yet either but mainly because I am hesitant to see another movie that I'll cry at again. But perhaps I will put it on my list when it comes on amazon prime.

I'm not even a particularly big Spiderman fan in general - but, yeah, FFH was very very good, and I see why that's considered the 'end' of Phase 3, and leads to Phase 4. Tom Holland was great, Jon Favreau was touching, the whole cast in general was excellent. I wasn't expecting all that much, and thought Marvel hit it out of the park, again.

There were some funny comments, and also some really good behind the scenes info. Totally worth getting it.

DH wants to show the kids HP, but I don't think they're old enough yet. I have a very sensitive 5 year old and 3 year old. They don't need to see the death and destruction. I thought about the early ones, but even them have some scary parts. I mean this is a kid who thinks Moana is too scary. IDK.

G is 4 and has seen more than 1 HP movie but she isn’t afraid of much on tv. The baby has seen some of Chamber and he wasn’t afraid. If you think it’s too dark, then don’t do it.

We watched the First episode of the Gates tonight. Colton Haynes, who is the reason I started watching Teen Wolf in the first place because I LOVED him on Arrow, plays a werewolf in this show too. He is basically playing his character Jackson from Teen Wolf, rich angry, douche bag werewolf. pianolove this must be where he went after they shipped him off to London after season 2 lol.
