Got the call yesterday that DD got into the preschool program!!! It was a total surprise since MH checked in early last month right before they were going to make the calls and we were really far down on the list. The woman who called even said she didn't think she'd get that far down the list. But woo hoo!!! We go for orientation on Monday and DD starts the 28th. I can't wait!

Thank you. It couldn't have a come at a better time too because we got a notice home from daycare today that they are raising rates on September 1st. Dodged a bullet there.

We dropped the kidlets at the inlaws for a camp sleepover. I confess I might be a little jealous. They have tents set up in the sideyard and a bonfire with s'mores.

Is there a certain age where kids can get their nails painted? DD wants to do everything I do. I’m just wondering if her nail bed is too thin. 🤷🏽♀️ She’s 26 months for reference.

Painted DDs nails at 5 months. I let the polish rub off on its own and still do. She has red toenails right now. I won't do her hands anymore because she chews off the polish in a day or two. I can't wait until we can get pedis together.

Cool, we can start with the toenails! I also can’t wait to get mani/pedis with DD!

My niece is 25 months and my SIL paints her nails at home sometimes. I know she uses kid specific polish - I think low fumes and faster drying.

That way it will rub away pretty quickly.

I've painted DS's toes before. I almost never paint my nails anymore, but I do want to look into getting something "cleaner." There's a brand at Target that's supposed to be good, ORLY Breathable.

I think a kid friendly polish could be better all around if something like that were an issue. My SIL is generally very careful about that kind of stuff so I figured they are pretty safe.

Got the handbook for DDs preschool. Their idea of full time and my idea of full time are vastly different. They have so many days off. So glad my mom is available to take her those days.
Eta: oh and their discipline policy is like a hug or something. I laughed a lot when they said they don't do time out and just provide a safe space. DDs going to walk all over that shit.

DS has two more weeks in the toddler room, and I'm already getting emotional about him moving up. Lordt, what has happened to me?

One didn't bother me too much. I was excited. But he's grown up so much even in the last few months. It's like he's suddenly a little boy now.

I struggled with both boys’ 2nd birthdays. The 1st? NBD. It was a relief to hit it, to have survived the first year. The 2nd, though? Complete sob fest. I really enjoy the 1-2 year age range, where they go from infants to semi independent toddlers. 4 also hit me really hard because of officially exiting the toddler phase and entering the small child arena

The turn to 3 was rough. For her birthday I put together a bunch of her pictures and you could noticably see a change in her from 2.5 to 2.75 where she thinned out and she didn't look anything like a baby anymore. ☹️

Our daycare (there is a preschool program as well) has two week-long vacations plus some holidays and I thought that was standard but apparently not. It mostly works fine for us because they are both at times we would usually take time off anyway but I can imagine it would be hard for people that get a total of 2 weeks for vacation or less. She might surprise you with how differently she behaves in school vs. home. Our center policy sounds similar except it says they will do time-outs as a last resort. But we don't do time outs at home.

Our toddler rooms are split into little toddlers (12-20 months) and big toddlers (20-30 months) but they are just two halves of one open room. At 30 months he moves UPSTAIRS to a young preschool room and I think that will hit me hard.

DS has a great group of big kids in his class right now. About six months ago, they had two big kids who were so rough with the littles and he was constantly coming home with injuries from them. They were just too big/advanced for the room.

Yea, it used to be 18-30 months for the toddler room but they the switched things around just in time for J to move into the new little toddler room and I think it does work better. It's nice to get the 12MO walkers/almost-walkers out of the infant room too.

We're finally making the transition from the toddler bed to a big bed. My friend is giving us her frame and I'm picking up a mattress from ikea this weekend. I even found some sheets that have DDs favorite dinosaur on them. Fx this means she will want to stay and sleep in her room now.
