I recently read The Fall of Wisconsin (great read) and it's shocking that the Clinton campaign basically ignored it, when it's an important swing state. I think that in the general election we have to focus on these swing states- Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Florida, and even Georgia and Texas. We have to show those people that their life has not gotten better under Trump and how the Democratic nominee will work to make that better. I think it's also important to realize that not everyone will be happy with everything, but we've got to come up with a unifying message to get the base to turn out and vote. Yes
BUT we're still in primary season here. The base is gonna vote for who the base is gonna vote for. We shouldnt be trying to placate the right at the moment.
I think its more important that we not have a repeat of 2016 where you have the continual yelling about how it wasn't fair and I should have been the nominee long after selection. Once the nominee is selected we need to be unified behind that person 100000000000 percent.
Yes, totally! The strategy has to different from primary season to general. We've got to get the base behind one person and not the obnoxious Bernie bros we had last time.

One issue that we, as voters in general, bring upon ourselves is that people rarely turn out to vote, and they especially don't turn out to vote in the primaries. See the Republican primaries of 2016. Trump could have been stopped but the base that came out was busy making a 'statement'.
What I worry about is that one wing will 'get out the vote' and come up with a candidate that is really unpalatable to many voters in the general. Can't blame the eager primary voters who get, let's say, Bernie in, or what if Biden's supporters come out in large numbers? That's how we set up our system. Tell the truth - let's say Biden gets it - how many here who have mentioned their distaste for him will just hold their nose and vote for him? We've already seen the blocks that will just take their balls of votes and go home rather than vote in the general.
I've said before the idea, for me, of a Sanders candidacy gives me a lot of empathy for those Republicans who just sat out the election rather than vote for either Trump or Clinton.
But yep, early days - I'm looking forward to Iowa in particular, but I think I now kind of hate that so many primaries are jammed up at the beginning of the cycle and that the convention itself carries almost no weight as far as candidate selection.

Is it wrong that I'd rather have her stick around longer than Tulsi or the chads? lol I drove by a Tulsi for President sign in the middle of a public median on the way to work and I honestly debated if it was safe to pull over and remove it. Luckily it was gone two days later. I'm very concerned that she will run third party

I know they were trying to be strict about the rules but cutting Amy off while she was memorializing a murdered 6 year old was so inappropriate on the moderators' part

I'm also concerned Bernie will stick around far too long again, muddying the waters for his dedicated followers*. *not everyone who likes Bernie, but those who border on fanaticism in their devotion to him/his candidacy.

oh I will absolutely be voting for whomever the nominee is. I have my favorites of course but I mean that quite sincerely. I will knock every door in the metro area for Bernard if he is the nominee and I will do it with a very motivated spring in my step.

We have debated back and forth so many times and I just can't believe how in on her they are. I have shared with the two of them so many articles and whatnot but they won't give up. She has a strong hold on them. It drives me nuts.

I certainly have my favorites but I will be fine voting for any of the nominees over Trump, except Williamson because she's just odd (but still better than Trump). As problematic as some of them can be, they at least are decent people and respect the norms of government.
I like Warren and Harris and I still have a soft spot for Beto. I think that Warren in particular could bring out a lot of Democratic voters who didn't turn out because they weren't excited about Hillary or were Bernie bros.

What's so funny to me (and what I don't think I've seen anyone in the media point out) is that Warren is actually doing all the stuff people claimed they liked about Trump. Center the middle class and working class. "Drain the swamp." Level the playing field. Repair the damage done by years of plutocracy and corruption and greed.
