Gift exchange *updated to add poll*

We used to do these all the time on TCF especially on TTCAL and I was wondering if perhaps anyone would be interested in doing a mom/baby gift exchange using Elfster? That way you could ask for something you haven't gotten yet, and we can pamper each other a little bit! Let me know who all is interested, and if there is enough, I'll set it up on Elfster for us.

Always loved the CAL gift exchanges, they're so much fun! So definitely count me in. BUT I'd like to make sure beforehand that everybody is okay with potentially getting paired up with me since I'm in Europe.. which can unfortunately add up on shipping. I wouldn't want anyone to sign up for a fun exchange just to be hit with unexpected shipping costs, KWIM?

My last two gift exchanges with my first BMB have been with a Canadian and Australian.

Was wondering whether it'd be an idea to open up the elfster page sorta soonish, so people can sign up and we can get things rolling? Would we like to get our gifts out in the mail prior to babies arrival or are we good with it arriving after they're born too? With our duedates coming up pretty soon and all, and allowing us a bit of time to sign up first, then get out pressie(s) together and in the mail, waiting for the posties to get their act together and deliver etc.. What do y'all think?

I set the date that gifts were due by as September 1st, giving everyone ample time, but of course you can send out much sooner if you can/want to!
Sign up deadline is the 21st and names will be drawn on the 22nd.
I set the spending limit at 30 but it was just a random number.

Same as other ladies, we are struggling financially right now and I'm feeling overwhelmed so will you pass this time but I love this idea! ☹️

Here are my two pennies, not that anyone asked, in terms of this set-up: the matching date and then actual date to exchange gifts by is waaaay too long from now. With everything going on in everyone's life in the next month or so .. you know, like having a baby .. a late July match with an early September deadline is literally putting the "work" of the exchange smack in the middle of us giving birth and the brand spanking new newborn days.

I really think this would be better if the match was in a week or two, and the exchange deadline was the beginning of August, at the latest. Even better if we did something with a theme related to either getting our exchange buddy something they can take with them to the hospital for delivery, or something for PP time. Just throwing my thoughts out there. 

I absolutely lurve gift exchanges (and doing the research/picking out the perfect thing for someone is something I genuinely enjoy), but the actual matching is so late in July and then everything is going to just fly come August. So, if we wind up doing this exchange with a shorter turn around time, I'm in, but otherwise as is I'm probably going to sit this one out. I just know myself, and I'd hate for my buddy to get short changed because I inevitably wind up feeling rushed or forgetting.

I agree with ketchup regarding the quicker turn around time with matching and gift exchange. I think since we're in the homestretch and buying items we need for our LOs, it would be easier to just include a gift for our buddy. I also would hate to short change my buddy, but with the possibility of the twins coming any week now and the 3 under 3 factor, September will be difficult.

I think I do agree with ketchup and happyfeet9 when it comes to a quicker turn around. I too worry that I'll somehow get overwhelmed by everything baby once our duedate approaches (which is happening sooooo fast now) and my gift may end up on my desk for like forever So I'd be totally fine with a sign up date of July 12 and for us to get our thingies out by the end of the month latest. There's only a few of us and I think even with this short a sign up period we'll be fine

ps hey! How did you manage to get that check-box thingy up there about international shipping?? Never seen it before but it's perfect - makes me feel a little less anxious about surprising people with a Dutch shipping address!

This sounds fun and I'd normally be totally in but I just have way too much happening right now, I'm not even getting to a lot of essential things so I can't take anything more on, it wouldn't be fair to my elf buddy. I'll still be lurking the threads to see what you all get though!

BTW not to make things more complicated BUT just wanted to throw it out here anyway. If those who now feel joining is too much to add to their already overflowing plate of things would be able to/like to participate if we would postpone the gift exchange to say later on, say make it a Fall exchange - I'd be totally cool with doing that as well! I think the more participants the merrier and while of course we can always do another gift exchange later, doing 2 close in succession would be a bit much (or so my pocketbook says anyway;)) I think heh! Just my 2cents!

I'd definitely be more likely to participate later in the year but I don't expect you all to hold up the gift exchange because of that. Maybe we could do another one around Christmas time so they're more spaced out?
