We are in the last stage of evals, with D having his ASD assessment today. It took everything to try to find someone bilingual to do this eval. I am happy we pushed to get these done quickly so they can start services, but I am all scheduled out.
Yesterday, I officially signed the contract for my new job and went through the onboarding process. I start in early August so that means no time off in between.

Same field - it's a dual appointment between a different school of public health and the medical school (I'm trained in public health and have been at a medical school). It's a lot closer to home, better salary and benefits, and I'm running my own lab with grad and medical students. There's a lot to be excited about

It's been really hot here so we've mostly been staying indoors. Supermarket, Target, bookstore - I've taken DS1 to McD's to let him play in the play place while I sit in the AC. Good luck!

OMG king26, we are getting nailed with the heat too. I can't fathom having no escape to AC. Can you even get a cheap window unit at least for the bedrooms? I cannot sleep in that shit, oof

Did I mention we're also house hunting? That has not been as easy of a process 😂 I guess we like to have all our major life changes happen at once.

We have ceiling fans so sleeping is ok, its just being up during the day.

This is my first of 3 weeks solo parenting and it would be ok if j would sttn. I talked to the doctor about it and everyone is out of ideas. Thank God he and big sister are in daycare 3 days a week so I can nap.
I am dreading this weekend heat wave. We will be trapped inside for 3 days with j losing his shit because he always wants to be outside.

What happens when he does? Does he have a bedtime routine? Just trying to see if any of us have ideas. That stinks the dr offered nothing ugh.

Didn't sttn until after he turned 3. Docs also said they had no further advice to give.

He was up every hour last night and just wanted milk. He tosses and turns nonstop. I had to do two diaper changes. Then tha baby was up 3 times. And my 3 yearold woke up at 4:30 to poop. For real? By 5:30 they were all up and playing. I think I got 5 hours sleep total probably 4...

yellowcat I’m so sorry about the kids not sleeping! It’s so hard. DS woke us all up at 3:30 this morning, and nobody could get back to sleep bc of his hysterics. Today is going to suck so much.

R figured out how to open doors, so our lives got more awesome. Anyone started letting them have a pillow. I was going to introduce it at 2, but R found the toddler pillow in the closet and thought it was hilarious. I realized she likes being covered by her blanket when she sleeps - I think she just wants to be like everyone else.

So cute bsouls. We gave N a pillow about two months ago? At first he would throw it on the floor or at the other end of his bed but now he sleeps either with it or cuddles it or throws it. He loves it though. When he moves himself from his bed to the futon he takes his stuffed animal and his pillow. It’s adorable. Gosh I’m so sorry for everyone’s sleep issues yellowcat pennylane no sleep is so, so exhausting.

We havent done a pillow yet but j just likes having a blanket in the crib with him. Im so sorry abiut the doors. J can open our closet doors because of the handle type but none of the others. When he can open doors its going to suck so you have all my sorries

J has been sleeping pretty well but DH and I have not. Last night we went to bed at 1015 but didnt fall asleep until 1230. The night before j woke for a minute at 130 then dh and i were up from 130 to 330. I have no clue what the deal is. We just lay there saying stupid stuff and cracking our punch drunk selves up then are exhausted in the mornings.

DD is in a twin bed now so she has a thin pillow and blanket. But she rolls all over the place on top of it all in her sleep.
She also can open all door knobs, so she will attempt to escape or help herself to wherever she wants to go. I had to put child proof things on the front door, and door into our garage, bc she tries to go outside.

Oh man that is so rough! Im sorry you are dealing with that. Is there anyway you can do some type of sleep training or get a sleep consult for help?

Anyone give their toddler melatonin? A friend who runs a daycare said she has parents who do that.

yellowcat We tried melatonin with DS bc he is a horrible night waker (still at almost 5). It helped him fall asleep pretty quick but didn’t keep him asleep any better. I know some people who’ve had great success with it though. It’s worth a shot to help you get some sleep!
