So yesterday I ordered a new plain wedding and bc my actual wedding band (a) isn't sizeable and (b) isn't a style that works on my sausage fingers. Has anyone done this and am I being extra asking our priest to bless it?

My swelling was all knees down, so I wore my rings all the way through, but I do know people who have done this though. They went to Walmart, Target, etc and just bought something cheap. I've also known people who bought a necklace to hold their "real" rings and wore them around their neck instead.
Even if your ring was sizable, I think you're better off with a temporary replacement instead of resizing your original ring so you don't need to get it resized again once your fingers go back to normal.
My initial reaction to getting it blessed is that it seems a bit much, HOWEVER I am not at all religious so I feel my opinion on getting it blessed or not means zilch. I do think if you want to do it, then do it. Thinking back on when my parents made me go to church I think most priests would be happy to bless the ring for you.

I stopped wearing mine when it got uncomfortable and I haven't bothered putting it back on (and now I'm wondering where I put it...). I figure whatever purpose a wedding band serves was/is replaced by the giant belly and now the baby, plus I'm home 98% of the time anyway. But I'm not all that sentimental and it doesn't bother me that H doesn't wear his either.

I have already decided that if I swell up enough not to wear my bands, I will get a Qalo band.
I personally feel that a wedding band is an important symbol, so if you feel the same, you definitely shouldn't feel extra for asking for it to be blessed. We had a ring warming done at our ceremony, so I'd feel strange wearing another ring, even temporarily, without acknowledging it somehow.

@ironbaby the qalo band is a brilliant idea.
My big issue is my hand feels so weird without it on I keep panicking that I lost it. The qalo would have been a way more cost effective option. While I am not the most super religious person on the planet, it just feels like something I should do. I called the church and they said to let them know which priest I want to do it and they will give them a heads up after mass, which I thought was super sweet!

I am fortunate and don't experience hand/finger swelling while pregnant, so I can't comment there. However, I don't think you're being extra about wanting the ring blessed. If it's important to you and the priest is willing, I say go for it! 😀

I think this is super sweet!
My fingers didn't swell last pregnancy (until after I delivered...) fx for the same this time. But if they do I might take a page out of your book. 😊

Lol at "are you being extra?"
I would say yes. But, that's me!
I wore my rings around my neck because my fingers swell badly in the summer - pregnant or not.
This summer I took off my engagement ring and am only wearing my wedding band. Small human has broken all my chains...

I'm not religious at all , but if you want them blessed, do it. I don't think it's extra if it's what you want to do and if it has a meaning to you.
That said, I take mine off when they stop fitting in pregnancy and put them back on after delivery when the swelling subsides. I have beads in my bands which helps with the summer swelling. However, it doesn't matter to me or my H if I wear them or not. I told him during this last pregnancy that I may not put them back on for convenience and he said he didn't care (i did though)

I wear a cheap adjustable band during pregnancy b/c my fingers are like 3 different sizes throughout the day.
