billyhorrible I’m sure I’ll have questions. Right now, I’m waiting for a call back from a child psychologist who’s group specializes in autistic children. The pediatrician wants us to confirm this is anxiety with a specialist and find a therapist, which we agree with It gives me hope to hear that therapy helps! Thank you so much for sharing that! *TW* *TW*
I lost one of my best friends in October 2016 to suicide after a 15 year long battle with anxiety and depression. She never learned to cope with it. I already fear this for him, and he’s only 4.
My hope is that if we can start therapy now (or however soon we can get a therapist and confirmation), we can teach him coping mechanisms

cmb that's awful. i am so sorry. You are doing a fantastic job. Just being proactive and recognizing there's an issue is a huge help. Take it one day at a time. *Hugs*

We went to picnic yesterday with the olds. I made a dessert plate to share with DD. I then got scolded for eating DDs desserts. So I got my own plate. Then DD had two bites (which I knew would happen) and then I got scolded for making DDs plate too big and overwhelming. I drank a lot yesterday. Today we are going to a new aquarium called seaQuest. Nymeria I know it's probably a drive for you, but it's in the Trumbull mall. Which is laughable that it's in the mall but I guess it's a rescue place and the prices are half what Maritime and Mystic are. Im pretty sure it's like this farm/zoo/rescue place we went to in MA where the majority of the animals came from people's houses who were illegally keeping them as pets. Basically these animals are "domesticated" and can never be reintroduced to the wild because they have no instincts and don't fear people. They had a wallaby that was in a pretty small enclosure because it was so used to being in small spaces that when they tried to give it more room it got super stressed and stopped eating. It was really great because you could see all the animals up really close and touch a bunch. But it also made me hate people.

Wishes for a speedy recovery addymac. jt2378 - YGPM since I didn't want to give the wide open internet a short list of where my children could potentially be on a daily basis! I sent you the link to our daycare's website where they have a PDF of the lunch and snack menus. The school is specifically peanut-free, but the menu options do not include any nuts. There's a 4-week rotating lunch menu - with both regular and vegetarian options plus AM/PM snacks so maybe you'll find some good options off that. I'm so sorry about your friend cmb, and for what you're working through with your DS. I hope the Zoloft starts to help and that you hear back quickly from the psychologist. It seems like that should be a great place to start finding answers on how to best help him.

cmb you're already giving him so much more than I would imagine your friend had. Not to dig on her parents, but things were so different when we were kids. The idea of children having anxiety wasn't a thing, because what do kids have to be anxious about? All my anxious behavior my parents just labeled as me being "dramatic" or "stubborn" or "difficult." I can only imagine how much better off I'd be if they'd gotten me help sooner. As an example, DH's best friend was having some issues with her (5yo) son and husband because her husband was getting so angry at the son for not being polite and talking to adults at parties and I pointed out that for someone with anxiety, being in a large group of people can feel like being totally naked in a crowd. And that made things kind of click for them. He wasn't being rude or difficult, he was being anxious. (They've since started him in therapy and it has helped the family dynamics). I just think anxiety in kids goes untreated a lot, so I know that just the fact you're acknowledging it is going to be beneficial for him.

We’re on day two of naked time using the Oh Crap method of PT. The first day was pretty rough (The dog got peed on. Twice...), but things are starting to click today. I still haven’t found his “signal.” Except for poop, which is “HELP! HELP!” lol.
ILs were supposed to come over for SD’s birthday dinner, but found out DS was going to be naked and told us to clothe him or they weren’t coming. So DH just told them not to come. Oh the drama over a naked toddler.

As soon as his hand goes there, we ask if he needs too pee and tell him to go try if he says no.

He gets kind of a deer in the headlights look just before, but it’s not always easy to see depending on what he’s doing. I was hoping for something a little more readable like a crotch grab.

Yeah MIL said she doesn’t agree with this method and she’s never seen anyone else’s kid run around naked before to PT.
Duh. They’re naked in their own homes.
Anyway, DH told her we’re doing it our way and she can stay at her house. Lordt.

I updated Tapatalk and the Quote and Like buttons have moved. I keep hitting Quote instead of Like now and it's really frustrating.

We put cloth training pants on today. He had one pee accident first thing in the morning, and we need to work on pooping, but otherwise he did really well. I took tomorrow off too so we could practice running errands and things. But I think school will go well on Tuesday.

I’m glad PT seems to be going relatively well gingy but da fuq with the in-laws and the refusal to be around the nudity. Definitely old school with that shit but I’m relieved for you that they are typically not so OTT Thanks so much for the link with ideas Nymeria!

Not gonna lie. If I had a penis I'd probably touch it all the time too.
I might be day drunk. I might also have spent an obscene amount on local craft beers.
So far vacation is good. The place is lovely. We are getting along. The weather has been good.
I did have to carry DD a mile back to the house, on the first day, after MH insisted he need a fucking sandwich after we got there and DD loudly proclaimed she was sick. Lo and behold she puked and refused to get back in the car. I don't blame her.
DD also has a habit of needing to poop within 15 minutes of getting to the beach. It's a 5 minute walk home (2 blocks) but with a 3 year old sobbing crying "I MADE A MISTAKE. I NEED TO POOPY!" it is the longest walk you will ever make.

DS is at school in undies. I haven't heard anything, so I assume no news is good news. But I'm so anxious for him. His teacher was excited last week when we kept him out for the long weekend. She knew he was ready and was really encouraging.
And thanks, all, for listening to me ramble about my toddler's potty situation.

Also I have the fucking Daniel Tiger song stuck in my head thanks to DS requesting "tiger!" every 5 minutes. We checked out the potty episodes DVD from the library. Now he's obsessed.

I can't handle the Daniel Tiger repetitive songs, so the only Daniel Tiger my kids know is the actual puppet from Mr. Roger's who doesn't sing.

On vacation too. DS1 loves fireworks and Ds2 whined the whole time. He was not a fan. I'm enjoying the trip but irritated about being the default parent. I got annoyed last night because dh wasn't getting ds1 dressed when I was nursing ds2. Today he dressed ds2 in a pj top and ds1 shorts. I said nothing.

Being the default parent is infuriating to me when we are somewhere together. Being in this cast and unable to do even diaper changes has really helped me release things like pj tops and wrong shoes or socks. I take a lot of deep breaths. Lol.

We survived vacation. It was pretty dicey in the beginning - he woke up the first night and screamed and screamed and spent a lot of time crying and screaming the next couple of days. It turned out he had a stomach bug or something and a wicked diaper rash to go with it so we were kind of relieved that he wasn't just being a dick. The second half of vacation went better although it was still tiring.

M has been pooping a ton and has a horrible diaper rash right now too so I'm now I'm wondering if its a bug like you said. We have been using Aquaphor and Bourdeaux extra strength butt paste but did you use anything else that was helpful that might be better? I hope you feel better too! How come you think mono?

My kid hasn't had a rash in so long that I didn't even bring anything with me except for a tiny travel size CJ's BUTTer that I happen to have in the diaper bag so we had to borrow what other families had. My SIL swore by a thin layer of Corizone 10 plus A+D so we did that for a couple of days (Cortizone 10 just once a day) and I think it helped but we're still working on it. I've been using Bourdeaux butt paste too since being home. The first day was awful and he would scream and cry as soon as he pooped (which was very often) but that got better the second day. I'm sorry you're dealing with that too! My other SIL that we were vacationing with has mono so it has me worried. I don't know that I could survive it - I'm tired enough without mono!

jt2378, do you think it might be yeast? When my kid's had persistent rashes in the past when he was younger OTC anti-fungals like Lotrimin helped some but we ended up with a RX ointment to clear it up. You could try Lotrimin first to see if that helps at all.

You could try Lotrimin first to see if that helps at all. It recently started because of frequent pooping. She hasn’t had a rash either in so long so I’m not sure. MH is with her today so I will have to check it more when I’m home later. He said it was actually bleeding a little in a couple spots, ugh poor thing. Omg I REALLY hope you don’t have mono 🤞
