Re: feeling body parts, I can't tell what is what. This baby is so much more active than my first and she's flipped multiple times already. I only know what position she's in because we're getting weekly scans right now. Yesterday I told the tech that I felt a ton of movement on my left side and she said it was her head. I would have expected that to be feet or hands.

Blood draws accomplished! Wasn’t bad at all! There was another pregnant gal in there for what I assume was a 3 hour draw, she got there right after me and kept going in on the hour. My arms feel like they’ve been chewed up by rats though 🐀🐀🐀

Whelp, I failed again. Guess it’s time to do a lot of dietary research 😕 Deep breathes. You will be set up with a nutritionist and they will help you. They will give you the amount of carbs you need each day and how to space them for best results. It isn’t terrible and you may find yourself even eating more than you were before, just more scheduled and thought out. I had it with my first and remember most all the things so feel free to reach out with any questions or even to vent if needed!! The biggest thing for me to learn is that not all carbs are equal. I could not have fruit in the morning or my numbers would Spike. Fruit at dinner was fine. The first week or two will be a trial and error guessing game to see what carbs your body handles and what carbs they don’t.

I think as soon as I can talk to my doctor and a nutritionist then I can feel like I can do something about it. Until then I’m just googling what is a healthy diet and trying my best. You’ll probably be getting a lot of questions from me in the coming weeks haha! ♥️

I'm annoyed with my whole pracitce again. Once again, they sent me off for a blood test (1-hr glucose) and once again it was a confusing mess. I miss the OB practice I had for my son, but they are no longer covered by my insurance. *sigh* Anyway, my 1-hr glucose test took 2 hours. I'm glad I brought a book.
I'll get the results at my appt on Tuesday unless they show up in my online chart.

So question to those who have experience with gestational diabetes: I haven’t yet gotten in to see the nurse and discuss nutritional requirements, and they have yet to show me how to use my glucometer to monitor my sugar. I have an appointment on Thursday to go over everything. This week before that, I’ll be in Monterey for a baby moon/anniversary trip. How terrible is it to eat a small amount of sugars? I have been eating along the guidelines they sent, and plan to continue to eat along the guidelines, but do you guys think it would be detrimental to share a dessert at a nice dinner? Or had a small bit of ice cream on cannery row? Should I just say no to all of it? I don’t know how strict you need to be, 95% of the time be good and you can have 5% bad? Or is it just 100% don’t do it? I’m sorry for the novel guys, but I’m having a hard time waiting for Kaiser to give me info on this. cateyes

Since you aren’t tracking yet, you don’t know how close or far off you are. I would just add a good walk in after those little extras to try bring the blood sugar down to a good level. This is also a good plan if you find being just diet controlled to be not enough. Walk after each meal if possible I just wouldn’t go over board and have all the things as a last chance thing.

cateyes, Thank you so much! This trip is definitely not a free for all as far as the sugar goes, and we should be doing a LOT of walking around the aquarium and the town, so I’m glad it sounds like a little special something wouldn’t go amiss on our anniversary! I feel much better about it now! 😊
