I think that a lot of the CBP workers are basically equivalent to what the Nazis were at the beginning. This is basically how it all started. It makes me sick and I think tat things are even worse than I have thought.

Excellent choice, if I do say so myself #formermasshole Once a masshole, always a masshole. 😉 Ha! We are in OBX right now and saw a car driving kind of crazy. Low and behold it was from MA. DH was like what is that word again for MA drivers? Me: oh, massholes? (spoken like a true New Hampshire-ite;)

I thought this was really good re:advocating for the unborn This might be the most spot-on thing regarding abortion that I've ever read.

I'm glad she's trying to do something about it, but I agree. It's total bullshit. If kids have to go then they have to feed them. [ Literal conversation I just had about this. Comment: “People shouldn’t have kids if they can’t afford to feed them!” Sara: “so women should be allowed to have abortions?” Comment: “no! Life begins at conception! It’s not the child’s fault the mother sucks” Sara: “so if a mother can’t have an abortion, but can’t feed a child, the child should just starve?” Comment: “they should give the baby up for adoption” Sara: “there are half a million children in foster care right now and the average cost of infant adoption is around $40k.” Comment: “what’s your point?” Sara: .... *slams face against wall* Why is the answer to a woman not being able to feed her baby to place the baby for adoption. Like, what in the ever loving privileged gross fuck is that?!

I taught at a school that had such a significant low-income population that they moved to 100% free breakfast and lunch for all students. It was fantastic. No child ever felt singled out for getting a "different" lunch, we knew that all of our kids were fed a balanced meal at least twice a day, and no parent had to fret about how to pay for a school lunch. I'd love to see that attempted on a county or state level as a pilot-program and eventually become nationwide. Of course, if you don't want your child to eat the school lunch, then you're welcome to pack something for them, but kids who don't eat can't learn. This is my entire district. 100% free breakfast and lunch for all students and they have free lunches and dinners for kids during the summer too.

Like, what in the ever loving privileged gross fuck is that?! Also, as if it’s just super simple to give a child up for adoption. As if it isn’t a heart wrenching, soul torturing decision to make that many women try, but just can’t do. You can’t say that carrying and birthing a child is a woman’s greatest gift and in the same breath assume that she can just let that baby go live with someone else without a care in the world. And now I’m donating to my local elementary school’s lunch program because fuck people who think children should go hungry.

I know you know this, but it’s fucked up that a family should have to be separated because of an inability to afford food. I feel like adoption is often put on the table as an alternative option for abortion, but often women either don’t want to have the child (fair) or they can’t afford it and their only option shouldn’t be to not parent (again, fair). It makes me ragey. I also should find a way to donate to my school district. We homeschool, for personal circumstances, but I still support and promote public school. Our district didn’t even have enough support/funding for free lunch over the summer. So I need to see how I can help. Thanks for the reminder.

Ours does backpack buddy and sends food home (6 meals 2 snacks) on weekends during the school year. The kids pick them up Friday afternoon and bring it back on Monday

I was actually on WIC with my first and I think most people don’t understand how demoralizing it can be. You have to bring your kiddo, they weigh and measure them, and my 7 year old who is still 3rd percentile for weight and is obviously on a curve, was talked about at every appointment. Not to mention that you have to match every food to your coupon and some things seem to fit but don’t. The cashiers never knew how to process them, and if you had more food you had to do a separate transaction. All while the people behind you in line judged the fuck out of you. I want to hug all of those moms. We’ve since more than paid for our experience in taxes, but I’ll always be a leech.

I’m not on WIC but we just transitioned to formula for my 11 week old, and I feel the eyes on me at Target when I put it on the counter to be rung up. It’s so shameful feeling, which is damn ridiculous when my son is doing SO MUCH BETTER (our pedi and we believe he has a milk protein intolerance so he can’t take BM). We pay into these programs to HELP people/ children. Like what gene are these people missing that they think those who may need the services are leeches?

Me. For a group I’m in. Now I’m facing anti Kamala posts. I don’t know how to feel the anti-death penalty, anti-trans stuff is bad. But what are all the other candidates positions from 10 years ago? I don’t want to Hillary the process.

I saw Trevor Noah tonight and it was amazing. He said a lot of funny political things and riffed about different cultures in that funny, non offensive way he does. It was good to laugh after such a tough day.

As a former checker I always felt awful when something they had thought was covered was not on WIC. And it was always something dumb like you have the 9 oz but it needed to be 8.5. It’s so demoralizing to people. And ime the moms always tried to come at the non busy time so they didn’t have to face judgement.
