I mean it's a vet. I expect dust bunnies of hair on the floor. But the table was still gross and covered. And there wasnt even a needle disposal thing in the room. Our regular vet has one in each exam room. I thought that was required?

I would not want my dogs to be cared for in a room that was like that. Especially since dogs and cats are already anxious at the vet, they could easily get away, knock stuff over, etc. I'd let the office manager know how you found the room.

Clearly it is more than she can handle and she is creating unsanitary conditions for people's pets.

My normal vet stays behind after I walk out to pay to clean the table. He doesn't even come out to write up my bill until all the bottles of shots he used are put away.

Ok, so here's a WWYD...
A guy I grew up with (the son of my parents' BFFs) lives in Austin, TX where real estate prices apparently are insane (as I'm sure some of you can attest)
He and his wife have been renting. They finally found a house for around $1 million. Apparently it's nothing fancy, but it's a primo location in-town and new construction. Their full-price offer was accepted.
They beat out another offer by $15K. The losing bidder approached them thru the realtor/builder (not sure) and offered them $50,000 to back out of the deal. Friend and wife say no. Bidder offers them $100K. Friend is like, "hmmmm" but wife is invested, doesn't want to begin search process again, etc. Bidder comes back and offers them $200K. Friend says he'll consider it at 250.
What would you do? Would you take the money and run? KOKO and buy the house? This is just insane to me, I have never heard of this happening. So now I am invested and waiting for updates.

I don’t know if they are required by law in each room but it’s best practice because you’re not supposed to recap a needle. I’d run! I never thought chickens would go to the vet. I thought the vet would come to you.

So you’re going to pay federal tax on it but no state income taxes in TX so you’re good there. So at 200k you’d pocket 120-130.
$50k...I probably wouldn’t. 6 figure...I would be giving it serious consideration.
Now I really want to see the house! And I’m wondering if there is a body hidden in the property, or money in the walls, or an oil well or something. Like, what makes this house *so* desirable to this person?

Very little house for $$$$$. They should consider going just slightly north or south in town and they would save A LOT of money. They should take that guys money and look at an area that isn't downtown. They will be happier they did in the long run, especially during SXSW and ACL. It's a big pain in the ass.

flamingo, depending on the area, even though it is a new build the buyer could want it to turn around and sell to a developer. Everything is getting knocked down and turned into condos these days.

flamingo, that's insane! If I could make sure I wouldn't be screwed over I'd do it for that money I think. It seems so fishy though! Very curious about what the house is like.

Got home to C being an absolute maniac. Making loud animal noises, plowing into everyone, hitting, not listening. He promptly got sent right to his room.

They’ve lived there several years and plan on staying, they are dead set on being in town. And knowing him, he would not do ‘suburbia’ 😜 I think my mom said house is 2500ish SF. So not terribly small but apparently neighborhood is still in process of ‘regentrifying’. eta: i found some candidates online b/c now I'M invested, lol. I've about decided we can skip playing the lotto and just dabble in real estate out there

flamingo id take the cash and up my budget or be more able to compete for another one. Granted it is really hard to win in a tight market. But that's be basically flipping a house with zero work.

I put in an application to adopt last week because the shelters’ website recommended doing one beforehand. I put the name of the cats I was interested in but also a note that we were going away and couldn’t meet them until 7/5. Well I just got an email that we were approved and can pick them up Wednesday! Which obviously we can’t do and I need to meet a pet before adopting. I responded back that we are away and can’t meet for two weeks and not to hold them. I just feel bad that they probably got excited for a new home. It’s a mom and son pair which is adorable but probably not appealing to the masses. I also haven’t convinced dh on this idea and when I talked to C about it he said he wanted a dog, which won’t happen for years. Ok- look how cute they are Dh is also leery of calicos because all the calicos I fostered were mean to Max. They can be moody but you know I love a cat with a tude!

Cuties, wedding. I would want to take the money, but I’d be worried if it wasn’t all done through contracts and what not that it could somehow come back to hurt me later. Like what if the house fell through for them after had given me 200k and then expected it back?

I’m hoping they are available still when we return I think I can convince dh. He will probably sigh and say “you’ll do what you want anyway”. I feel like this is my payment for dealing with his messes because he sure does what he wants! Plus I do the animal care.
