I wanted to share with you guys that B was diagnosed w Lyme disease. I’m really devastated over it. My mind is going into all the worst what-if scenarios after watching mh still continue to struggle w it. She’s on a 28 day course of abx rn and I’m just hoping/praying/pleading that this will take care of it all and we can move on and never look back. Keep her in your thoughts but most importantly pls pls pls take the precautions if you live in an area of the country where this is prevalent. I pulled a tick about the size of a sesame seed off of her. I believe it had been there only about 24hrs.

yummeecookee I'm so sorry you are going through this. Hopefully her symptoms are on the manageable side and the abx make her feel better. It seems really unfair that you have 2 people in your family learning how to live with this. Ticks are disgusting creatures.

Oh gosh. I am so sorry. I will send all my good energy and say a prayer for her. You caught it early and that is a good thing. I’m sending you internet hugs. It will be ok. You are probably a mess, but we will think positive thoughts and believe that it will be ok after the abx. Big hugs friend.

yummeecookee, oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. I hope the abx do the trick. How's she doing so far? She seems ok. She isn’t having the telltale symptoms of joint pain, flu symptoms etc. (or if she is, then she’s not mentioning it). She had a huge rash develop where the bite was and she had complained was itchy. The latest symptom is a bit of facial palsy. One one side of her face, her mouth is kind of stuck. It’s not really bad, just makes it look kind of weird when she smiles. It’s also causing her eye to water more bc she can’t close it entirely. Her pedi is going to refer is to a ophthalmologist for that.

I'm so sorry to hear this, yummeecookee. Hoping that the ABX do the trick and this will be behind her soon. Did your H ever get in to see that Lyme Specialist? Thinking of you and your family.

Shit yummeecookee! I'm so sorry. How long has she had the facial palsey? Did they say how long it should last? My dad's last bout of bells palsey never cleared up and he has to physically move the bottom of his lid up to shut it. It just constantly waters. They said they wouldn't do surgery until after 6 months and he's going on 9 months now. It's always a huge ordeal to get anything approved through his insurance. I'm sure B won't have that issue and I'm not trying to scare you but just wanted to give you a heads up. I like to know worst case scenarios.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry. Fortunately it sounds like she’s being treated pretty soon after the initial bite. How long after you took the tick off her did she start showing symptoms?
We have a lot of ticks around us. My friends have pulled some off their kids this year. This is a great reminder for all of us in the NE to check constantly.
What part of her body was it on? 2 years ago i found 2 on Omar. One was his inner thigh/groin area and the other was on his torso.

I'm so sorry to hear this, yummeecookee. Hoping that the ABX do the trick and this will be behind her soon. Did your H ever get in to see that Lyme Specialist? Thinking of you and your family. He did. She is the one that ordered the PICC line for him. She said that the abx have done all they can and anymore abx would be ineffective. So at this point it’s about lifestyle management and dealing w any residual symptoms. She sent him on to a neurologist who ordered a MRI (which he should be having rn) so they can assess what sort of damage he’s had to his nervous system and what would be the course of action to manage that. It’s really unbelievable. All this fucking ordeal from a tick bite.

tgrimes - thank you for sharing that info. I’ve been spiraling on it. It started on Wed afternoon. Her dr thought it may go away in about 2 mo. I’m not sure what he’s basing that on but I hope he’s right. The internet was telling me 2 years!

I found hers behind her ear. I thought it was a skin tag initially bc it was so small! The rash started after about 1.5 weeks. We never saw the one that infected mh.

I'm not sure how different it is compared to what B is experiencing, but usually his face is back to normal around 6 weeks. The doctors tell him between 2-3 months.

Oh gosh, what a mess, I'm so sorry. I am glad you caught it early and abx are started.
My step uncle is a naturopath and there is some antidote or something out there, I know it's a bit whacky, but if you want a second opinion I could pass along his info. My dad claims it cured his, but who knows, Lyme is so elusive.

But it is definitely having a long-term effect on some people even if mainstream medicine currently denies this diagnosis. If it were me, I would try woo woo alternatives as long as they aren't harmful or gross. Can't hurt, might help. 🤷♀️
