Whats up with the yellow rose boutonnieres? I was trying to figure that out but couldn't get anywhere. I think it's for the anniversary of the 19th amendment.

Oh come on Jerry. You've said you trust Mueller. If he wants to testify in closed session, let him do it. Mueller and House Democrats at impasse over how much of his testimony would be public wapo.st/2wb3tCz

How much pressure for impeachment do we think Nancy can take? And at what point do we think she is unreasonable for not caving to it?

Holy scoop "House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blocked a bipartisan attempt to limit Chinese companies from contracting with U.S. transit systems, a move that benefited a Chinese government-backed manufacturer with a plant in his district, according to multiple people familiar with the matter. His behind-the-scenes intervention came as Congress was trying this year to craft a spending compromise to avert another government shutdown. McCarthy pressed lawmakers to strip out language that could have prevented the company in his district, BYD Motors, from winning federal contracts, and they relented because they feared imperiling the bill. BYD Motors is a division of BYD Co., a giant Chinese manufacturer. Among other things, it makes electric buses that are often used by local governments. Stella Li, BYD Motors president, is a campaign contributor to McCarthy, and the lawmaker spoke at a ribbon cutting for BYDβs California plant in 2017." www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/despite-national-security-concerns-gop-leader-mccarthy-blocked-bipartisan-bid-to-limit-chinas-role-in-us-transit/2019/05/21/24bb0f72-7813-11e9-b7ae-390de4259661_story.html?utm_term=.923215854723

I mean, I know he won't need to answer anything that concerns national safety or not ngoing investigations, so why not? Genuinely curious here.

100 years ago today, the House passed a resolution that would eventually become the 19th Amendment:

On the other, this administration responds to videos of the President saying stupid shit with "He didn't say that", so what the fuck does video evidence matter anymore?

I'd be ok with private testimony. We aren't going to learn anything new about his report, and that includes how he feels about how Barr spun it. He is too much a professional to sit in a hearing and bash his boss. At this point televising it would only show those who believe the president obstructed that the report says he obstructed. If you don't believe that you are either a)not going to watch the actual hearing and will only see the Fox soundbytes of Jim Jordan/Matt Gaetz/all the yelly people saying its a waste of time or b) not going to watch anyway.

How much pressure for impeachment do we think Nancy can take? And at what point do we think she is unreasonable for not caving to it? I think impeachment is still underwater with the Caucus as a whole. That is starting to change. But I think Nancy feels confident in focusing on the legislative agenda. And as she said, "Do you want to be the one to tell Elijah Cummings to go home?"

House judiciary has subpoenaed Hope Hicks and Annie Donaldson: I like this move but would like to see some consequences for those who have already ignored their subpoenas.
