guster what'd you get him? tallb I signed S up for camp this summer and 99% of the reason I chose the specific camp I did is b/c they have swim lessons 4 days a week. We did swim lessons with him when he was a toddler and then once I had B I stopped b/c of scheduling and we never went back. I'm hoping by the end of the summer he is proficient. nam2013 I don't think there are any guidelines for that here. Someone else may know something I don't. A chair for the beach, a sign for the house, and the water color of the house. |

My long term, 37 years long term, co worker's last day was yesterday. She has vacation until July 31 and then she's retired. All her work has come to me, I have exactly zero interest in this side of my business unit, so the next little while should be interesting.
I believe the term 'fake it 'til you make it' applies here.

Morning! X’s therapy last night went well, better than expected. They did say that he doesn’t have any behavioral concerns and agreed to cut him down from eight hours/week to five instead because his needs are so minimal and they will mostly work on strategies for improving expressive communication. I have a meeting with my psychiatrist this afternoon. Then, it’s Open House at Dude’s elementary. That's a relief for you and the schedule |

Just out of curiosity, how many swim lessons do kids have untill they are able to swim according to us guidelines? An estimate of course. ETA and hi! Hmm I am just going by my standards and he's not able to swim right now and I don't know how to teach him properly, so he is getting lessons. I want to be able to sit at the pool and watch him swim and not be panicked he's going to drown. Ideally he will learn multiple strokes, but goal #1 is water safety for me. ETA: I won't force my kids to play sports (but I may be heartbroken if they don't), but I will force swimming. I view it as a life skill, not a sport, although it def is. Full disclosure, I'm hoping my kids aren't into swim team, so many early mornings! I'm only hoping for swim team so I can swim too. My mom didn't (doesn't) know how to swim and always made us swim a lap anytime we were in a pool once we were old enough. Then we could play |

tallb same when it comes to ‘making’ them pick a sport. They can pick anything they want, after they have there swim diploma that is 😉. What's swim like there? Is it at a specific age? Full disclosure, for "any" sport, it will be guided selection. J is in t-ball, but I bet I'll be signing up N for spring lacrosse if she is interested and I'm hoping for field hockey over soccer if I can..granted if she's tall, I should get her into volleyball, rowing, and basketball. When I grew up, it was normal to start at 4. Nowadays most kids start at 5, it is just one of those things you just do as a parents, almost as normal as starting school. They get taught different swim techniques, survival skills, how to swim with clothes and shoes on, how to swim under water etc. For most kids it takes between 18-24 months to be able to take an exam and get a diploma. The diploma is a bit of a rite of passage  . ETA a third of our country is below sea level, there is water/canals/rivers everywhere, that’s why 97% of kids older then 11 do have a swimming diploma. |

It always makes me sad when I come across adults who can't swim. My BFF loves swimming and was a lifeguard in her youth. Her husband can't swim and wants nothing to do with the water. He won't let her teach him. It's absolutely a non-negotiable for me that the girls know how to swim but unfortunately many don't have the access, time, or money.

Our 2 biggest most popular campgrounds went under. But the water levels dropped so our maintenance staff started cleanup today. Cleaning all the mud and sludge out of bathrooms, putting picnic tables back in place, clearing the debris left behind...but we got a ton more rain today and the river is on the rise again so all that work was for nothing because the water is going to come back into the campgrounds again and they will have to start all over. I spent the day calling people canceling their reservations and most people are understanding but others are assholes about it and don’t understand why they can’t still come...well dude, there is mud caked in the electrical outlets, the camping pad is a mud slick, and the shitters aren’t working yet. Multiply this by several hundred campsites and it’s gonna take a few days to get up and running again 🙄. |

I found a cute one that I actually feel good in, which is new for me. Now I’m watching RHONY in blissful solitude. It will last all of twenty minutes but I’ll take it! |
