I've been having trouble with DS2 eating at night, he's so sleepy and wont stay latched. Last night was bad, and this morning was worse so after fighting with him for an hour, I offered him formula and he drank it like he was starving. I pulled out my scale I use for puppies, and he's weighing the same he did on Monday at his doctor visit. He hasn't gained any weight, the poor kid must be starving. I think it also has to do with the fact he has a high palate and he just must be too tired to nurse correctly right now, because he takes the bottle fine.
So now I'm going to BF, pump, formula feed if needed, anything it takes to get him fed and hope that I can get back to EBF after a while. Of course, I asked MIL to watch DS1 this morning so I could get all my pumping and bottle feeding stuff out and ready, and the first words out of her mouth were 'Oh, well that's ok, I didn't breastfeed any of my kids, you could just go to formula.'
I forgot how much she hates me breastfeeding. I don't know why.

quinstar, sounds like you have a good plan in place! I definitely find that LO nurses better if I feed him earlier on when he first starts showing hunger cues. If he gets too hungry he has a harder time latching. Hopefully you can eventually get back to EBF, but if not that is OK too. Sorry your MIL is so against breastfeeding. I never understand people like that.

He's so sleepy, he'll go 4 hours without waking to eat on his own, and that's just not good. I think it has more to do with the fact that she can't watch the baby because I've got to feed him. Or because it's awkward for me to feed him in front of the family? IDK, and I don't care. IF we can breastfeed, we will, if not, we won't. I just want him to gain weight and be happy and full. I feel like I've been starving him because I expected everything to go easily because it did with DS1. But I forgot we had to supplement him a little at first too. Her words just made me feel a little worse.

Help me think through this car seat situation. We have an infant seat with two bases. Seat can also be installed without a base, using the seatbelt. The original plan was that I would have one base in my car, and the nanny/home daycare would have the other base in her car. But, it looks like H will be doing pickups on Tues/Thurs (I would still do drop off those days). Do we a) keep with one base me, one base nanny, and have H use belt path installation when he picks up b) get another base (seems excessive, but maybe safer?) c) get a convertible car seat earlier than planned and put that in one of the cars? Or other ideas? We have until August to figure this out, but of course my mind is racing with the options and I’d rather not put off a decision until the last minute. MH and I just shared bases and my childcare had the second one. We bought a convertible for MHs car during a good sale. (Prime day I think)

(Prime day I think) We won’t be able to move the base between our cars because of my fall work schedule. In spring this won’t be an issue, so I’m kind of leaning toward getting a convertible for his car...but we’ll wait a bit and see how we feel by the beginning of August. We won’t need to worry about it until later in August.

We got the swing assembled last night. I think the stroller is the only other big thing to get out of a box and out together. Well, high chair, but we don’t need that for a while.
I meal planned a bunch of freezer meals, so we’re going to Costco tomorrow to stock up on stuff and I’ll be prepping things to dump in the slow cooker, lasagnes to just throw in the oven, etc. My goal is to not have to really think about food for the first month or so.

Compared to big brother, this kid has been so much more difficult already. Currently I’m sitting doing an NST because his heartbeat is elevated.

They determined it was just because he was being super active. He chilled for a few minutes so they decided there was no reason for concern.

quinstar my MIL is anti BFing also. No idea why. But I get super uncomfortable when I have to BF around her because she is so uncomfortable with it. Sorry you're having to deal with that! I also had a lot of trouble with BFing with DD...so I completely understand. I hope things get easier and that they work out the way you want them to!

I checked my email at 1 AM this morning because I was certain the breastfeeding class I'd signed up for was coming up but didn't see it on my calendar. Turns out it was last night at 6:30 and I totally missed it. Urgh. The next one is mid-June and I'm thinking baby might be here before then. I feel bad for signing up for the class and then not showing up. I think I've grown too reliant on text reminders for all doctor and dentist appointments.

Those reminders are so helpful when we’re juggling all these one time things, plus pregnancy brain! Is there a way to contact the instructor and get the info? Ours had a booklet that comes with an app, where I can rewatch any of the videos we saw in class.

@starzia I'm sorry the people around you are making things hard. SO and I are not on the same page when it comes to discipline etc of DD (who is almost 5.5). He is really only with us 1 day a week so I told him that his role for the moment is fun dad. He is not allowed to do any of the disciplining. He struggled after DD was born as well adjusting to baby and now he is struggling adjusting to the fact that DD has developed the attitude of a 13 year old. Honestly I'm glad that I do the parenting on my own (and will continue to do so once baby is here until our house is finished being built and we are all back together) because having him here is sometimes like having another child around that I need to parent:/
As for the name, I love the name you chose! My mom pestered me for days to tell her our name. Then when I told her she basically said she didn't like it. I'm sure as baby grows your mom will get used to it!

@starzia, I’m sorry your adjustment has been tough! Newborns are so hard and it can be so hard to be on the same page. I’m sorry your mom is being weird about the name. I love his name and know quite a few people with it (both kids and older).

@starzia, I hope things get easier for y'all soon! We're still figuring out the whole two kids thing too and some days are so rough.
Also I hope your mom figures out your DS name soon lol. Is English her second language? My brother has the same name and I know a few people have had a hard time saying his name but otherwise it I would think most people should have heard it before.

I’m pretty sure the baby dropped the other day. New pressure in the pelvis, yay! Yesterday was pretty painful, but today has been a lot better.
I’ve been working on getting a bunch of freezer meals prepped. So far I have 5 slow cooker meals and 4 oven meals in the chest freezer in the basement!

Did anyone else start getting insanely nauseous again these last few weeks? I am 34+4 today and I am so nauseous I can't sleep. It's not helping that baby is having a dance party in there also. I don't remember being this nauseous towards the end with DD1. It just came on suddenly a day or 2 ago and has not let up at all:/

sammysam, I got nausea again the first day after the baby dropped. But in general I’ve still been taking Bonjesta, so mostly I don’t feel it.

sammysam, yes, I definitely started getting nauseous again. It is mostly back under control again, I’ve been super careful about not eating as much as eating lighter meals because those things seem to trigger it.

I’ve been feeling crampy on and off over the last week. I’m currently 36 weeks and kind of freaking out that he’s going to come sooner than I was expecting. This weekend all of our back up childcare options are out of town so I’m also freaking out about that. I’m not even sure if the cramping really even means anything. I had no signs of labor starting by the time I was induced with DS...

mamabear02, can you take some time to sit, relax, and drink some extra water? Hopefully he is not ready yet, but I know the worry of child care can really add to the stress.

I was doing too much outside and taking it easy and drinking enough water solved the problem.

I think I might have been a little dehydrated. I typically drink a ton of water but have probably been drinking less because I hate constantly peeing.

And if there is even a drop in my bladder and I have to cough or sneeze... well it's coming out. So annoying.
