It’s a new month, and we didn’t start a new weekly thread on Monday, so I’m starting this one to tide us over until 12 May. I really love the month of May. Exciting things around the corner...Star Wars Day (May 4th), Cinco de Mayo, my house being rid of guests after the 6th, hopefully some warm spring weather for you all... Do you love May too?

May is always so so busy. I have two nieces with May birthdays, I have older nieces and nephews so we're traveling to graduations about every other year it seems, Mother's Day, graduation at DH's school, it feels like SO much. Of course we are also gearing up for football, which starts late May/early June so that doesn't help. And we added swim lessons to the May chaos. Whose idea was that??!? It actually wouldn't be that bad but DS2 is not enjoying the lessons at all. He cries pretty much the entire time, so it is exhausting and sad. DS1 is finally in a swim class where parents do not join (woohoo!) and he's loving it and doing great -- so that part is awesome. But DH and I both have to be in DS2's class because he's ultra clingy. We really thought he'd love it but he hates it. Yesterday I skipped DS2's morning nursing session with success. But this morning he kept pointing to the chair in his room where I feed him, saying "mil mil". Weaning DS1 was really easy but I don't think it'll be the same for DS2. I feel like every single thing has been harder with DS2.

We started standardized state tests at school and I’m spent. I’ve been trying to read and lovetit here but posting has proven too much and school has been crazy. These tests are always ridiculous and this year is no exception. 1 of our tests was 3 straight hours long reading and answering questions on the computer. No break unless an emergency so we just had to power through. We finish up the reading & writing test (part 3!) tomorrow and it is a solid 1.5hrs of typing.... all this for 9-10 years old!
At hone, DD2 has been “babbling” more coherently this week which has been fun. Less screeches and more things that sound like the word we think she’s trying to say.

Taitai May in the teaching world is crazy with one standardized test after another so it is probably my lead favorite month. Everyone’s ready for summer break but we all still have a few weeks together. Glad there’s an end date on sight for your house guests because yikes! CoachTsWife DD2 pretty much hates the water too. She clings to me with a death grip. I was also elated when DD1 was old enough to do it without me. I don’t mind sitting back and watching someone else coach and be in charge!

Guise....my old is now apparent. I haven’t a clue who those people are in the gif. 😳 Taitai...read your post...stinks that your kiddos are all sick now. Hoping they’re on the road to recovery and your guests are staying out of your way BUT helping as much as they can. You have every right to bitch and moan after all what are friends for amirite 🤓 so me thinks your friend should listen to your laments.i truly feel sorry for her child. 2.5 yr is tough and 3-5 gets worst at least with DS. He’s almost 5 and just recently I feel have started to mellow out and/or our approach and methods have finally taken effect.🤷🏻♀️ We have a little time to take off our suit of armour before putting them back on and wielding our battle shields for lil fella 😬🤣😅😭 hubs and I were just wondering how large families function - we would go stark raving mad 🤪 The mountains have been pummeled with snow this year and we’re missing on some awesome spring skiing...le sigh! Someday we’ll get there. May around here is waiting for spring to show up and lots of yard work and planning for DS’ birthday. This year he is requesting a chocolate cake with strawberry frosting. He wants another train again with chocolate rocks 🙄 so here we go again. I’ll be modeling yet another train. He was specific too and it has to be a Union Pacific train 🤦🏻♀️ This year I’m going to try making my own marzipan. Also hubs and I will be enjoying the last few peaceful nights / days before my folks come back this weekend. I miss them and love them but they aren’t the quietest. I’m also hoping to be working start8ng this month too...🤞

duskymonkey I remember your amazing train modeling skills from last year! I am sure this next train will be awesome too. Thanks for your sympathies on the house guest situation. They are now extending their stay until May 8th 😩. But they have tickets booked now, and my home will be my own again on May 9th. Can not wait!!!

Oh my goodness Taitai . Two more extra days with them must feel like eternity but I'm glad tickets are booked and there is a hard end date. I wasn't even to work yet and got a text from our DCP that DS1 said his stomach hurt and he didn't eat much of his breakfast, which for him, is big. He's all about food. I really hope he just needs to poop or something.

Today was a pretty good way to cap off the week! My kids are getting better and DS2 is finally able to sleep in his crib for most of the night without waking himself up due to coughing fits or congestion. Still sucking out SO MUCH snot with the nose frida - thank god for that thing. It remains in my top 5 essential baby items list.
My friend got her panorama genetic testing results - one healthy and genetically normal baby girl! I’m very excited for her, and so happy that the results were good.
We’ve all kind of fallen into a routine over here the last few days, and while it’s a little more chaotic than usual, we’re at a new normal. We might be rubbing off on my friend too - she has been making her kid eat normal food at the table (no running around and eating), they stopped giving him milk in a bottle, and they went to bed at 8pm tonight! Still LOTS of screen time, but there’s improvement! Maybe it won’t last for them, but at least they seem to be adapting to our ways under our roof, which is nice to see.
No big plans this weekend. Just trying to get everyone totally recovered from the bronchitis.

I'm SOOO happy your family has rubbed off on them Taitai, those are really great improvements! Maybe those 2 extra days will be enough to make some of this a habit. FX! And I'm happy to hear their baby girl is healthy. I didn't realize she was far enough along to do genetic testing.

It’s really really hard to get their kid to eat any solid food (besides balled up rice balls and candy). He thinks everything is spicy and freaks out/claws the food out of his mouth when it goes in. We don’t make spicy food for the kids...he couldn’t even eat rice pilaf or a chicken sandwich today. I just think he’s only used to drinking milk, so he doesn’t know how to handle eating actual, normal food. So sad ☹️. I hope we can get him to try some new things and like it.

codex320 hey! 👋 I think our girls may have allergies too and they are truly the worst. Ugh. Can you do an Allegra or the like? Just when it starts to get nice out and bam! Allergies. 😩 Taitai happy to hear they are adjusting to some type of normal parenting (however slowly) and the baby is healthy! But two more days.... 😳 duskymonkey the cake sounds delicious. I would eat a train or plane or whatever you made as it always looks and sounds so good!

FRIDAY! 🤪
It was a looooong week with state testing, the water stopped working at school (400 kids and no working toilets for 8 hours 😳), and then just parenting stuff.
A recall was issued on our Kia (airbags may or may not deploy 🤷♀️) so H is taking it in tomorrow and I’m dropping the girls off at his parents after soccer and we’re going to see Avengers. I have managed to avoid all spoilers though I did have to quickly do a “no talking during homework time!” in math one day when I heard a student begin to mention the movie to a friend 😂

May the 4th be with you Chewbacca.....sad news if you have t heard, RIP Chewbacca 😭 Peter Mayhew has passed on. Taitai yes I know BSB but can’t tell them if I bumped into them. Gimme Duran Duran, Pink Floyd anytime 😁 anything from the 80s is the best! Also glad to hear everything is well with the baby. Must be such a relief. Sorry about the extra 2 days..hopefully the remainder of their stay will be enjoyable for both of you now that the kiddos are on the mend and their kid is getting much needed rest and a balanced diet of some sort. That poor child...can you get onigiri for him to try? We...I mean me...miss spicy food since everything I cook, chili is omitted so the kids are able to enjoy them too. danvers....I’ve been thinking of you and how close you are to being off for the summer. When is the last day of school for you? Any plans for the summer? Also so happy to hear DD2 is starting to achieve some coherent babbles! CoachTsWife....I’m not sure how to wean lil fella...he’s always asking to drink milk first thing when he wakes up in the morning. I feel we are close and I’m just feeling sad thinking about it. Since he’d been sick, i feel like my supply has tanked...l pump every night and the last week I’ve gottten hardly an oz and decided tonight to not pump so we’ll see how I do in the morning. I am also on CD1 and usually my supply tanks during my cycle. codex320, glad to see you back here! I suffer from severe allergies too. Claritin makes me drowsy and dries up my sinuses so much. I take Zyrtec but keep forgetting to take them. I suspect both the boys have them too. I really need to talk to the pedi about it.

duskymonkey We tried onigiri (picked one up from Lawson) two days ago. He hated it 😩. He hated a grilled cheese sandwich, a hot dog, pizza, and Mac and cheese. Said they were “spicy.” I think he confuses something having flavor for being spicy...again, probably because he has only eaten milk, plain rice, and cookies his whole life 😬

My sister finally had her baby this morning! 8 days late, her name is Norah (as I already knew). We saw her at the hospital this morning and will head back to her house tonight once they are home. DS was in love and kept patting her saying baby 😍 DD was less enthused 😬 She did not want to touch or hold or anything the baby. I think the hospital scenario really threw her off. Hopefully she will be better tonight! We just left chapters and she picked out a book that she knows to give to/read to her new cousin tonight

doodlemommy congrats aunt! That’s great that they’ll be back home so soon. What about you? How are you feeling these days? Are you already into 2nd tri or still in 1st. So excited for you! That’s adorable that DS is into the baby. Taitai 😮 I could live off onigiri alone...kid doesn’t know what he’s missing. cythe🤦🏻♀️ you’re a mod...don’t you have special mod powers 🧙♂️

BTW speaking of meddling hands... a couple of days ago I found my old phone behind the drawer of our bedside table. It had been missing since last yr. NBD since it’s been deactivated when we charged it back up, we got locked out of it for what it looks to be around 18 years 😂😂🤣 not even sure how that happened.

We just saw them at home and DD did great, I think the hospital scenario might have just been too much for her. Luckily I don’t work mondays or Tuesdays so I can have a couple days of visits and snuggles before the rest of the busy week. We are Heading out for dinner now and then planning on a relaxing evening, I’m tired! I will be 16 weeks on Monday 😳! Feeling great, tiredness is improving which has been nice, no more falling asleep on the couch halfway through an episode of the blacklist at like 8pm lol.
