OK, now that you've all seen my house, I need some decorating help. We just got a new couch. Color looks a little blue in this pic but it's a pretty pure grey. And we have the matching ottoman. You can see the chair on the side is off white with rose. I am looking for throw pillows for the couch to tie it all together. We would ideally like 2 regular pillows and 2 lumbar pillows. Nothing too fancy. Shop for me!! Edit to add flamingo

Also, the throw pillows on the couch came with it. I do not intend to use them - they are not super comfy

jewels I would find a solid red pillow that matches the red of the patterned chair and drape an ivory throw over the back. I prefer a structured fold to a 'drape' of the throw but you could play around with what you like

I have a hard time making it look effortless (like it does in advertisements) but I think it looks nice.

I have a piece or two I want to try that blue that you posted in the other thread.

It’s Tuesday and I don’t want to be doing work, so I’m avoiding it as best I can. We are leaving Friday for MS and I’m ready for it to be the end of the week. I have quite a bit to do while I’m there, so I’m just trying to plan it all out now.

mamabear, yikes, I hope they open it up so you can include everyone that wants to come. Ours is May 24th and I'm sure only FIL will come. My mom won't drive and my siblings work. I guess maybe SIL could come, but I doubt she will.

I had originally been thinking maybe a darker grey or blue. MH is very against a rose for some reason. But maybe the some of it in the lumbar pillow? mamabear that's tough. Fortunately my parents are the only ones that ever come to anything. Do you have any friends in the class who might not be using all their tickets?

I’m three wines in. I’m having a lovely time bitching on how ‘they’ are messing up kids. It is seven and I did not eat yet... this is going to be interesting.

Could you go with a much darker rose tone (almost red/maroon) so it contrast against the couch but complement the lighter rose pattern in the chair? I also think a darker gray would be nice. Maybe something with a texture to it?

guster, I think you are thinking along the same lines I was thinking. I'm open to any actual suggestions of specific pillows too. This is not my forte. But I'd like to have this done before MH comes home, otherwise he will try to get involved, and I'd rather not.

Atticus painted his nails pink to match mine.
Yesterday he told me a kid at school was making him upset by teasing him and calling him a girl.
Apparently, the kid has had to be reprimanded before for this behavior. I talked to the teachers and they said they will have another talk about how anyone can dress how they want or play with anything they like.
Dude’s little BFF said he wants to paint his nails purple so Atticus doesn’t feel alone.

I’m sure there are super nice ones online but things like pillows and throws I tend to want to see in person.

What color did you do the furniture? IIRC, you were undecided on the color of chalkboard paint. Just wondering if you found any navy color you were happy with.

I wish I could remember what it was called. I did post it here a while ago. I used the navy for two pieces and a dark teal for one. And, yes, I am happy with it. It looks really — it’s deep but it has a brightness to it. It feels like a true navy blue instead of a navy that is infused with black.

mamabear, if you think people will be able to keep quiet about it and not post on social media, and your husband is on board, I think I'd just invite who is likely to show and not mention anything to others about the celebration. Tell your sister space is limited but you'll share pictures with her. Or I'd be the worst and invite no one else if I knew it'd cause controversy and just have parents there. If you wanted you could have a small celebration later and invite everyone. vino that is a great way to treat yourself. I'd be partial to #1 or #4. peachsmama I love the potential name.

Hi ladies. I'm back. Overall vacation was good and much needed to get away. As I mentioned, my older brother bailed because of anxiety. My little brother and his partner were there. Little bro started being a prick about halfway through the trip. Our next vacation will just be the 4 of us. I don't want to have to play nice and bend to anyone's whims to placate others and just do what I want on vacation. I got a lot of cleaning and unpacking done but I really wish I didn't have to return to work. Where's my winning lottery ticket?
My TKD instructor was worried when he saw me yesterday. He apparently forgot I was on vacation and must have thought I died or something.

mamabear that's tough. Ours is immediate family ONLY. Which makes it easy. I'm actually glad bc I don't want to deal with my parents or ILs, and this can be a special little time for our family and I am now tearing up thinking about it. Gah it's 6 weeks away, I'm going to be a hot mess.

PreK sent home graduation invites yesterday. Besides parents and siblings, only 2 more guests are allowed. How do I fairly choose between grandparents? Additional detail, inlaws would be insulted if I chose my own parents but also probably won't make the 45 min drive without their youngest son driving them. My parents are much more involved in my kids lives, but I did think of just inviting each grandmother (assuming my mom will drive herself and pick up MIL) to be fair. Not to mention my sister wants to come! Rumor has it they usually open it up more once they receive some rsvps. But seriously, I'm sure there are several families with both sets of grandparents locally! I would probably invite both grandmothers assuming your mom could help out with driving; my dad loves my kids to pieces but even when we lived in FL he never attended their Christmas/year end pageants, etc (obviously I think he will as they get older). It was always my mom and my aunt. eta: or invite no one. But I do think it's a bit tricky to only invite one set and exclude the other. Like, I think my husband would partially understand (since my parents are clearly way closer to the kids) but also would be a bit hurt. KWIM?

jewels Like the sofa! Call me crazy but what about this pillow for the ends? (note that they show it on grey sofa in other pics) Allow me to sell you I love that it has the red, cream AND grey, some warmer tones to complement your floors and woodwork, and introduces blue as another accent color you could work with. It's also a large-scale...you want to be careful b/c you have a medium size print on the chair, to not do *another* medium size print on the pillows. I think this pattern works with that print as well as the general flavor of your home, from what you've said. Also, FWIW, that's a 20" square pillow and they call for a 20" insert, but I would do a 22" square instead to get it nice and full. That is my rule of thumb for fat, good-looking pillows that hold their shape. eta: PB has lots in the navy family, too, if you wanted to bring in some blue tones. I have seen this and this in the local store; my mom actually has the basketweave style in navy on her sofas. You could do squares behind the pattern, or a lumbar in the middle between the pillows on either end. eta2: for a throw, I like something with some texture...in my opinion, the really flat weaves look better in bedrooms or more formal spaces than a family room. Something like this or this (not necessarily sherpa lined, just this look)

We're having a family party for her the next day so maybe I'll just show some pics of the graduation then. Oof double whammy. I say do a little prek graduation/bday party combo and call it a day. The day after ours is our k orientation, so will really feel like we are leaving and going right to k😭

I took the kids to Barnes & Noble after school; apparently I needed a reminder of why I normally do not take them to the bookstore with me. We did get some new books but I think I'll probably order a couple more, I just think a lot of the stuff that's written nowadays for kids is...not very good.
We are home now having some "quiet time" (I'm sitting in the kitchen eating pimento cheese on pretzel crisps while the kids watch Space Jam, B's new favorite, lol).
