moonandback141 I had a low lying placenta with DD. They told me it could become a placenta previa depending on how things moved but that typically it moves “up” (the placenta obviously doesn’t actually move but the way things grow it gets further from the cervix). They rechecked it a week later since I had to go back after my anatomy scan because baby was uncooperative and they couldn’t get all the images and it had moved enough in just a week that they weren’t concerned anymore! I hope that will be your experience too! I have a friend who had a complete placenta previa and had rather significant bleeding throughout her pregnancy so I would think it could definitely be related! Thank you. How did your friend’s story turn out? Did the bleeding ever stop? Did hers ever move? I read partials are likely to move but completes usually don’t. Haha I was trying to avoid telling her whole story as it’s pretty extreme. It never moved and she ended up on hospital bed rest (her bleeding was super significant though, like soaking clothes/gushing and she was passing clots the size of a fist 😳😬). Her little one was born quite early at 28 weeks but was home from the nicu well before her due date and is a bright healthy perfectly normal 3 year old now!

She was bleeding like that from the start, like thought it was a miscarriage bleeding. My understanding is that a partial is likely to get better not worse so hopefully where you are now is the worst of it and it will just get better from here!

Okay I wish I didn’t ask :/ but so glad everything turned out alright in the end! Sorry 😬 She knew right from early on that things were rough though. She was bleeding like that from the start, like thought it was a miscarriage bleeding. My understanding is that a partial is likely to get better not worse so hopefully where you are now is the worst of it and it will just get better from here! Gah I hope so. I extensively googled last night and I did come across something semi interesting—apparently there are these common uterus contractions called “focal myometrial contractions” that happen randomly and can last up to 30-60 min and when they are low in the uterus, they can obstruct imaging and actually make it look like you have previa when you don’t. So during my u/s, she’s like, oh the bottom of your uterus is having this contraction and it’s difficult for me to see.” So that’s why we switched to transvaginal but she still had the same issue. So now reading that, I wonder if by some miracle that’s what happened. And the only reason I am entertaining this is because the week before when I had an u/s to see if my SCH has resolved, I specifically asked about my placenta and was told it was nice and high!!! So of course I’m dying to know if I’m right or just batshit crazy.

moonandback141 I had a partial with DS1 in the beginning. By my A/S, things shifted to be come low lying (less than 2” from cervix). 12w later, it was positioned more than 7” from the cervix. I was told about 90% of partials and low lying will migrate to the safe zone
