DS can officially open all doors (including exterior ones). We had supper at MILs last night and in the time it took me to take both kids' plates to the sink and walk back, he snuck outside and scared the shit out of me. I've ordered some of those door handle covers for both me and MIL and they should be here tomorrow. He is soooo different than DD was - she never did that type of thing. Opening doors, playing in the toilet, trying to plug things into an outlet - these are all new (& terrifying) to me. DD had us spoiled. I see we have the same kids. DD was and is a rule follower. No issues with anything like that. DS however...he is definitely giving us a run for our money 😬

doodlemommy How is your pregnancy going so far? Have you had an ultrasound yet? Due date? Excited for you! Thanks for asking! My first midwife appointment is tomorrow! I assume she will give me a requisition for an ultrasound so hopefully I will have a more definitive due date soon! My guess is anywhere from October 23-28 🤷♀️ Other than being exhausted I have had no other real symptoms (exactly like with both DD and DS) which is both great and a bit scary for post loss brain. So just crossing all the things that we will be able to hear a heart beat tomorrow. We couldn’t at my first appointment with DS which was so hard. I will be about 10.5-11 weeks so hopefully! Sending positive thoughts your way for a great appointment tomorrow! Please let us know how it goes! Exciting to have another October baby in your family 😊

Well after all my big talk about refusing MRIs and such, here we are. Ev is getting scheduled for an MRI in about 2-3 weeks down in Albany.
The doc spent a lot of time looking at her and a little bit of time making her angry by touching her but ultimately he feels that she is presenting in such a way that he feels the only way to know what's going on is to do an MRI. He (of course) couldn't comment on what we could be looking at but he did say it wasn't getting worse so he didnt think tumor or anything but instead feels it's more likely a spinal cord issue.
Basically he believes the spinal cord didnt develop quite right and its sending out mixed messages to the nerves in the area. The fix is a short spinal cord surgery to correct whatever is wrong. He did elaborate further on the constipation, the report showed that E - while pooping every day - isnt fully eliminating so shes never getting it all out, hence the "significant elimination issues" aka constipation.
So, that's the newest update for us. Part of me is glad to be getting answers I guess. No more of this wait and see BS but of course the other half of me is terrified because shes so little. She so little to be having her brain and spinal cord looked at. She so little to be cut open and stitched back up. Ugh

Oh cythe. I'm sure it is scary to think that she might need surgery, but I'm glad there is a plan to try to get the the bottom of this. Sending hugs.

For all the weaning people, the cramps i was questioning def seem weaning related so keep that in mind when you get to that point. I did an exhaustive intenet search and found a ton of identical questions, many with the started two days after even. Im 8 days from last feeding and the cramps are almost gone. Im still a little uncomfortable but feel on my way. I remember thinking i felt like myself again 6 weeks post weaning so 🤞

Appointment went well! Super nice to see our old midwife again. They were able to get a flicker of a heart beat on the Doppler a couple times but not long enough to measure. I expected that though, apparently it’s only 50/50 being able to pick it up at this point. So I was glad at least they could hear that there was a heart beat in there! Ultrasound will be done in about a week, I just need to call to schedule tomorrow 👍

Ugh, I’m so sorry cythe. It’s so scary to think of our little ones having to go through big procedures but you are a great mom for doing all these appointments and following up on your concerns. Keep us updated, I will be thinking of you guys!

cythe Big hugs - I empathize with how scary it is to have your kid go under, both for the MRI and then a possible surgery. I’m hoping that the MRI comes back with conclusive results, so you have a firm yes or no on whether surgery is required. Hang in there - you are a great mom and I know you will do an excellent job supporting E as you guys go through the next steps. bootsorhearts1 We’re they ever able to get meds into your DD? I hope she is feeling better!

cythe I’m glad you are starting to get some good info. Hopefully the MRI gives some better answers. At least it’s not something acute and you can take your time getting information and coming up with a plan you feel good about. All the hugs and positive vibes being sent to you and your sweet girl! She is such a treasure. Taitai still no meds, we’ve tried every trick out there. She slept all night though and seems a bit happier today but I don’t want to get a recurrence because she didn’t finish her antibiotics. We are calling the nurse today to discuss. We can’t be the only ones who’s kid won’t take that nasty bubblegum tasting stuff. How does a baby even know what bubblegum tastes like anyhow? 🤷♀️

Crazy Ex GF series finale tonight!! I have never watched this, but your dedication to it makes me want to try it out. DH and I just finished the Netflix produced Arrested Development Season 5. It was more like the original series, but a little all over the place for me. I do love many of the characters though, so at the end of the day I’m glad I watched it.

Happy Saturday! I wanted to take the kids to an art festival with bounce houses, food trucks, parades, etc. but H dropped both cars off at the car wash guy place so we have no vehicles. 🤦🏻♀️ I’m hoping one car will be done soon.
We did take advantage of being stranded at home by cleaning the garage, back porch, and the master bath. Getting everything spring ready!

Well we got to the festival and DS2 threw up all over. So we turned back and he’s thrown up about 4 times since. Kid can’t even keep water down. I hope it’s not contagious and a quick 24 hour bug.

SIL and I are playing this fun game where we’re both making passive aggressive comments because we think the other is crazy. It’s so stupid but I’m definitely PMSing and I can’t let things go. For the record, I think I’m right but of course I recognize that she thinks she is too.
The stupid shit is stuff like I won’t let DD1 ride in a seat behind a bicycle without a helmet, or put DD2 in one of those pull behind bicycle riders without one either (we forgot our helmet and my MIL only has one so only one girl could go on the bike ride after dinner). DD2 and I are currently sitting outside in the beautiful weather and she doesn’t seem to give a shit that they’ve left her and she got the entire playhouse and all the farm chicks and kitties to herself.
I also let DD1 (who’s 4) drink from an open cup of water at dinner instead of having her use a sippie cup. That called for a lot of conversation.
I said stupid shit tonight I’m sure too so it’s not all her. I own that. 😑

E has discovered that going down stairs is fun. Like really fun. She scooches up to them and holds her little hands out so I can hold them and then ever so slowly small scooches to the edge until she plops into the stair below. Rinse and repeat to eternity.

curmudgeon Oh no for the pukes!!! I hope he can start holding down water and some food soon...and that the sickness doesn’t spread. danvers Knowing your SIL, I am sure I would have said things too. Isn’t she the one who lets her young kids play unsupervised outside in a pool? I just can’t with that. Plus - I am with you on the helmets. And what’s so bad about having your DD1 drink from a regular cup? DA1 is 4 and he’s been drinking from a regular cup (not a sippy) for like almost a year. 🤔 cythe Ah, that is too cute! DS2 also loves doing something over and over and over and over again until he has it down pat. The little joys in life for a toddler.

My dad is in town and we made it to the beach for a little 4 day getaway! This is a new beach town we’ve never been to, and it’s only a 2.5 hr drive from home, which is nice for avoiding all the hassles of flying. So far so good! The resort has a great pool/kids club, the food/drinks are good, and the beach is very scenic (but unfortunately not good for swimming due to rip tides and pollution). The kids did great during the car ride too - thank the lord for iPads.
The only bummer is that DS1 has some crusty green stuff coming out of his right eye, which he didn’t have before we left this morning. I wish I would have packed the antibiotic eye drops! Gah! Let’s hope his body can fight it off and it doesn’t get worse/require a trip to the doctor while we are on vacation.
My dad is also having a great time with the boys - they really love their grandpa, and I am so happy that we can spend these two weeks together.
Poor!

No pukes so far today! Last time was around 8pm so hoping it was a 24 hour bug. Poor thing is so hungry though. He keeps running to the pantry and crying to open it. We’re going to try toast.

Took ev to the park today and she cried and scowled at everything. Swings? Terrifying. Other people swinging? Terrifying. Slides? I think you mean death tunnels.
