For those that weaned recently, do you remember havinf any cramps, tightness, a little bloating?
Since 48 hours after the last feeding ive been cramping in my stomach. Not just ute area, higher too. It feels somewhat famailar like this happens after birth too (just worse then). I even have woken ho at night feelikg it. Ive had cramps like this during pregnancy but im 100% not pg.
I dont remember any of this from my previous two weanings.
I googled it and was somewhat reassured as i found a lot of questions like this on mom forums.
Its not my period.

New week and new month so I’m going to force myself to do some sort of exercising tonight. We booked a July 4 trip so that should be motivation for me. But I really like cookies.

rebeccabunch feel like my body gets all weird and crampy and gassy and bloated a lot more post-pregnancies. I will often double check myself to be like “you’re not pregnant right? It would be impossible right? right?!!?” Then I realize based on timings and BC and whatnot that yes, it would be. But gosh if sometimes my symptoms don’t mirror pregnancy! curmudgeon yea for a trip! I always need some sort of external motivation nowadays for exercise and food. 20s me was full of internal self motivation. 30s me would like some sort of gold medal for choosing carrots over cookies. bootsorhearts1 not once the entire day today did a single student say anything about April Fools Da — Which is a relief because 10 year olds do not play good pranks. “Oh Mrs. Danvers, your shoes untied - April Fools!” It gets old real quick. 😑 I think they were all just tired from Spring Break thankfully.

This is like the craziest busy week ever full of mtgs and appts and other nonsense. DD1 has soccer tonight and thankfully swimming is over so that actually cuts down a bit on our schedule. DD2 is just... grumpy. 🤷♀️ I don’t even know anymore, she had been so whiny and so clingy for so long I’m not even sure it’s a phase anymore. Maybe teeth. Maybe just being 18 months old. It’s a lot sometimes.
Her new thing is wanting to sit in my lap to eat her meals. Pre-parent me would have thought I wouldshut that shit down but after a long day at work or even just a first thing in the morning breakfast I just want to eat without listening to her scream incessantly (and she can go a looooong time 😩).
I am still keeping fingers crossed 🤞 this is a stage, albeit a long one.

I'm coming at you as rested as I've been for a long while. We had to re-sleep train DS2. IDK what happened -- actually I'm pretty sure it was sickness and teething -- but his sleep just kept getting worse. He was over the sickness and had stopped gnawing on his hands and we'd had enough. He's sleeping so much better after just a few nights and he seems happier too, I'm sure because he also feels more rested.
Now DS1 is going through a phase. Lots of attitude and bossiness and crying. UGH.
But at least we're sleeping!

danvers I have a lap sitter too. What I wouldn’t give to have 2 kids sit at the table and eat their damn food. It’s just not a fight I have the energy to have most days. 🤷♀️

This weather. My friend sent me a pic of her house with a dusting of snow. The sunshine is extremely misleading. I came down to the cafeteria to get soup bc I did not dress appropriately and soup and a cookie cost me $8!!

cythe about the cauliflower in M&C....I didn't know either and I used to know these things but I barely go thought the grocery aisles anymore unless its for cookies curmudgeon, so you're not alone however when I make M&C I use cauliflower as a base for the béchamel. Why? I guess it makes me feel better about not eating sooo much rich dairy. Here's the recipe if anyone is motivated to attempt. Just don't expect it to taste ilke M&C then you won't be disappointed. I do like it thought. August Blooms BTW the IP is great for making indian food! locks in the smell and when I release the valve - always natural, I release it under the vent hood with fan running. Another thing I recommend highly is to have a good vent hood - it works wonders extracting smells from the house and so worth what you pay for. We have an open floor plan and since we replaced our vent hood and also vented it out, it's made a huge difference. However I do keep cooking Indian and M'sian during the winter months to a minimum which isn't hard considering M'sian food is so damn time consuming to make.

Tell me that it's normal? We've been having so much issues with DS just trying to get him to the dinner table. Just plain wouldn't listen and we're tired of chasing him around the house trying to just practically get him to do anything. He does sit about 80% of the time if we manage to get him to the table but then I've got to spoon feed him or else he refuses to eat We might also be losing lil fella sitting down in his high chair eating "almost" nicely. Lately it's been a battle with him throwing his plate and playing with his food. I guess at least he still sits in his hgihchair so what do I have to complain.

I need to know am I the only one still nursing and also napping 2x a day still? I am not sure how to wean now, just waiting for all the damn colds to be over with to wean but it's new territory for me since DS self weaned plus I was drinking lots of peppermint tea and eating everything peppermint to get there so we could get on with FET. I suppose I can do the same and see how that goes but now I worry about his milk intake.

IDK, I guess I'm not in a hurry to wean and I definitely want to get through sick season.
I'm unsure how to do it when the time comes, though, as I was pregnant with DS2 when I weaned DS1 (milk dried up). I plan to cut out the morning session first, then eventually the bedtime session. For now I'm enjoying the cuddles and quiet time with DS2.
I personally don't worry about milk intake. We don't drink milk in our house, just plenty of other dairy like full-fat yogurt and cheese.

Anyone have any tricks for getting a stubborn toddler to take medicine? We end up holding her down and putting it in her throat a couple of drops at a time and she screams the whole time. 😢

duskymonkey the 5 year old wants to eat while watching TV it’s a terrible habit I know. Little one wants to sit in my lap or next to me and eat what I’m eating. 🤨 Still nursing twice a day here, more when she’s sick. I have no idea how or when to wean. I’m going to be that person with a nursing kindergartener. 😕

We were able to do that with amoxicillin and it helped greatly. When all else fails, we are a hold and force kind of family. Blowing forcefully on them will get them to swallow which can help (or also result in gagging and spitting it back out)

DD1 had her EKG and Echo today. She was beyond good for it and laid completely still for the entire thing. It was just a long day at the hospital (and not even a children’s hospital so fairly boring). Free WiFi helped kill lots of time as did elevator rides and people watching. Hopefully we will hear back soon about the results.
Rocking and nursing DD2 to sleep. She wanted to cuddle a bird book. Whatever kid. I think she’s out so I’m gonna let the book fall between rocking chair and crib transfer. 😂🤷♀️

duskymonkey Only 1 nap a day. We’re still nursing like 4 times/day here - plus MOTN nursing. I want to keep it up through the summer, as nursing is the easiest way ever to put DS2 down to nap/sleep, and I want to take advantage of that when we have our horrendously long travel to/from the USA this summer. Once that trip is done, I’ll probably look into gradually weaning....somehow... bootsorhearts1 DS1 and DH got me with an April Fools prank. When I came in to say goodnight to DS1, he looked at me sweetly and told me he found a marble in the bath tub and ate it. I was like - omg - what do we do? Then, DH whispered something in his ear, and he gave the biggest smile while saying “APRIL FOOL MOMMY!!” Gah DH! rebeccabunch My body felt similarly when I came back from my work trip a few weeks ago. I think the difference between nursing and pumping threw me for a loop - very crampy, with a heavy/bloated feeling in my abdomen. I was sore and tried everywhere too - maybe that was also due to a virus I picked up on the plane. No period yet, and it went away a few days ago, so I’m not sure what was going on - perhaps my body attempting to ovulate, but not really figuring it out? curmudgeon I love cookies too! Good luck sticking to your new found motivation!

duskymonkey 1 nap and 1-2 nursing sessions/day. He always nurses in the morning. In the last couple weeks we have slowly dropped the bedtime session. One night we were reading books and I put him to bed and I left the room and then realized he didn’t nurse. He has always been fine without if DH puts him to bed. I tend to go with a don’t offer don’t refuse weaning method. So I haven’t offered at bedtime and he hasn’t asked either so we basically have successfully dropped that one 🤷♀️. My goal was 18 months and through the worst of the sickness season. He will be 18 months on the 12th so whatever happens is fine. I don’t want to tandem nurse so we will need to be done before the fall for sure

Anyone have any tricks for getting a stubborn toddler to take medicine? We end up holding her down and putting it in her throat a couple of drops at a time and she screams the whole time. 😢 I've seen something shared on FB about mixing medicine with a tablespoon of the Hershey's international delight creamer. Apparently it's supposed to completely mask the taste of medicine. (But of course ask the pharmacist if that's ok to do.) My 3 yo has literally puked from trying to swallow meds before, so I commiserate. I just learned about this new trick so I'll be trying it next time she gets sick.

DS can officially open all doors (including exterior ones). We had supper at MILs last night and in the time it took me to take both kids' plates to the sink and walk back, he snuck outside and scared the shit out of me. I've ordered some of those door handle covers for both me and MIL and they should be here tomorrow. He is soooo different than DD was - she never did that type of thing. Opening doors, playing in the toilet, trying to plug things into an outlet - these are all new (& terrifying) to me. DD had us spoiled.

I’m laughing that every time I’m tagged it’s about cookies. 😂
DS2 is also really close to opening doors. He will put his shoes on and grab a jacket and run to grab the doorknob. Thankfully every door has a deadbolt that we keep locked always so he can’t reach that one. But he’s so dang fast!! How can little legs move that quickly?

doodlemommy How is your pregnancy going so far? Have you had an ultrasound yet? Due date? Excited for you! Thanks for asking! My first midwife appointment is tomorrow! I assume she will give me a requisition for an ultrasound so hopefully I will have a more definitive due date soon! My guess is anywhere from October 23-28 🤷♀️ Other than being exhausted I have had no other real symptoms (exactly like with both DD and DS) which is both great and a bit scary for post loss brain. So just crossing all the things that we will be able to hear a heart beat tomorrow. We couldn’t at my first appointment with DS which was so hard. I will be about 10.5-11 weeks so hopefully!
