What are these wings on diapers you all are talking about?

littlelion - I was assuming those flaps on the front on each side. The ones you pull tight over their hips before fastening the diaper. Another tip on good diapering is to make sure the ruffles around the leg openings are not caught up in the elastic around baby's leg.

piratecat caring for a newborn is a challenge! There were moments of sheer desperation for food and bathroom breaks. I will admit that I BF baby as I went to the bathroom a few times. I'd go, wait for him to finish and then place him down on the bath mat (with his blanket under him) to finish up. As far as food, you can try having easy 1 hand needed type of food- such as granola bars, mini bagels, bananas, almonds...those are the healthy ones I remember. My DH does an oats drink each night. Maybe you can try making an oat smoothie the night before and drink it the next morning? Or make a big batch one night and store in smaller containers for the next couple of mornings to shake up and drink? I haven't tried that for oat smoothies but we do it with green ones.

I think she said to make sure you pull them out - so make sure they're not still folded up in the front of the diaper.

littlelion I do need to get better about having easy snacks on hand and a big batch of smoothies is a good idea! Having to pee or poop while the baby is on your boob is the worst.

Alex turns 7 mo today! And I forgot. well, more like I was behind a couple days. I was supposed to get his footprint at 6 mo and didn't, may try that again this weekend.

DD rediscovered sticking her tongue out today and it's super cute.
She's also conquered the rolling over issue. Not by figuring out how to roll belly to back, but by mastering how to stop when she gets to halfway between lying on her side and her belly. She also turns her head now and again. I worried for nothing.

The flappy things around the legs. I call them wings since I don't have another name for them

I need to laugh at myself for a minute.
DH and I decided on a plan of attack for moving away from nursing DD to sleep for naps. This past week I moved her feeding up so it was in the middle of her awake periods (instead of right before nap) but still let her nurse a little bit before putting her down. Then starting today we are going to try putting her down without nursing, and each day increase the amount of crying we allow before I step in.
First trial run she fussed only long enough for me to close the door. I cannot believe I lost sleep over this. I'm sure there will be bumps in the road but DD seems determine to prove that I need to chill out.
