My numbers are definitely off, but it was basically whatever score if you missed one math question. And still got a perfect score on the other part of the test? Yes. He had a perfect score on the verbal.

Oh man, this quote for the personal statement is ridiculous (I mean, for someone that doesn't play tennis). "“ eing a part of Georgetown women’s tennis team has always been a dream of
mine. For years I have spent three – four hours a day grinding out on and off court workouts
with the hopes of becoming successful enough to play college tennis especially at Georgetown.
What is most amazing is how quickly I connected with Coach Ernst. He spent time with me
while on campus and at several tournaments I played in.”Let's be real here....the kid probably didn't write that either.

Like I said above, this was 20ish years ago. Even the talk of standardized tests make me queasy. I almost passed out taking the GRE.

While everyone is talking about how smart they are, want me to tell you guys about when I took the LSAT? My H was the social chair of his fraternity and stupidly booked his formal the night before the LSATs. A ton of his friends skipped the formal to study but I no care. I did illegal things all night. His roommate (who skipped the formal) and I were driving to take the test and I was like “oh fuck, we need pencils for this?” So we had to stop at CVS so I could grab pencils and 600 Red Bull’s Bc I was out of my mind. Took the LSATs, then went straight to a bar where I drank until someone picked me up that night. And then I became a lawyer! The American Dream.

In one of the emails, Aunt Becky’s husband disses ASU in the process saying he wants his kid to go to a good school, not ASU. Also their daughter posted all kinds of videos about how she doesn’t care about school and just wants to party. Its nauseating. I’m personally offended by this.

I took both the SAT and ACT. All the schools I applied for wanted both—all in the Southwest/ west coast.

I can't believe USD (Univ of San Diego) is one of the schools people cheated to get into.

They are awful people and their daughter most likely would have been rejected by ASU too if she had fairly applied. That’s what’s so crazy about all of these hypocritical asses who think they deserve everything.

It's a private Jesuit school that is easier to get into than SDSU (the Cal State school). I mean, I literally know people that didn't even have a 1000 on the SAT that went there (granted this was in the 1990s).

I think at that point where you are paying major bucks to get into USD it’s a lifestyle thing like you just need to go to a San Diego school.

I'm just flabbergasted at this. I'm trying to skim the 200 page complaint in between work calls lol.

I appreciate this opportunity to discuss my achievements in standardized testing in 1999 and how it has lead me down this glamorous path to where I am today. Today, btw, I am home with a sick kid and we have binge watched my little pony. DH got a 35 (36 in the science section, he would have me note) and is always incredibly disappointed that he doesn't have more opportunities to flaunt his standardized testing skills in the real, adult world.

ETA: I just mean compared to Ivy League or those that I assumed this whole thing was about I'm just laughing so hard at some of the stuff my friends are writing in our Facebook discussions. "Cheating to get into USC is like sneaking into the movies to watch Kazaam. I'm not sure what benefit is gained." "Once you've decided that you're going to commit fraud to get Junior into college, it's HYPS or bust. USC? UCLA? Texas? Psh." "My favorite part is that Felicity Huffman did it for her older daughter but not her younger, so either she thought the older one was dumb or the younger one was completely hopeless."

Here, every high school junior takes the ACT. We give it at school for free. A 33 will get you a full ride to Auburn. It used to be a 32 but they recently raised it because AP kids are cut throat and will do anything for a full ride. They pay $100/hr for ACT tutors and take that test as many times as it takes. So many kids were getting 32s that Auburn raised the requirement.
For some, a scholarship is a status symbol. For others, it’s a true need. It’s an upper middle class high school, but only a few of them are truly loaded.

I have a close friend who works at an Ivy not named and he said they’re keeping a close eye on this and holding their breath. So maybe all you nerds will get your academia satisfaction yet.

I think the system is going to have a reckoning soon. There is already a lot of pressure on them to do more to promote economic mobility and to look at community college kids and other mechanisms to look beyond their easy feeder schools. More and more people are applying and in this era of transparency and social media, they have to stay on their toes to preserve the brand. This whole scandal is also promoting a convo about the difference between the outright lying and giving preference to a wealthy donor. The sauce is no longer that secret and that’s gonna be a problem.

How dumb are the Loughlin kids? $250k to get into USC and needing help applying to college makes me think they already tried throwing money at the problem with tutors and SAT prep and they were still duds.
