That Assad statement is fucked. Threatening Syria without first telling senior defense officials, or even getting their input? Wow.

All I want is a president who doesn't liveblog Fox news. Is that too much to ask?

I'm debating going to the human chain tomorrow. I'm doing it! I'm bringing my baby. I'm also going to the "people's filibuster" at the capitol this afternoon followed by "Pink Out the Streets" for Planned Parenthood. All hands on deck!

Can you tell me more about pink on the streets and the people's filibuster? I haven't seen that info. Yes! The People's Filibuster is three days long and starts today at 2 pm: www.facebook.com/events/1967200510162386??ti=iaPink Out the Streets is organized by Planned Parenthood - there are shifts every morning and evening this week. Different shifts may do different things in different places, but my group is handing out stickers and asking people to call their senators. (Which is odd, being that we're in DC, but we'll see.) www.facebook.com/events/1496680000426378/?active_tab=discussion (Find the "Street Team Sign-Up link to sign up.)

WH briefing is going to be on-camera with Spicer and Rick Perry today. A meeting of the minds I guess.

Thank you! Wonder if kids can do the planned parenthood thing? I have my four year old home with me this week. Probably depends on your four year old. Is he/she a flight risk in crowds? Helpful with things like passing out buttons? Three hours is a long time to hang out on the street trying to engage with strangers with a kiddo. But I'm sure they have some jobs for people who need accommodations - you should post on the discussion board on the FB event and ask!

Senator Graham is trying to be cute in the Senate Judiciary 702 hearing right now. It's not really working, lol.

We're going to head to the People's Filibuster after DD's afternoon nap. I've decided. I'll bribe the boys with dinner at Union Station, which they love.

Whooooooooo Grassley just got real mad and was shouting and banging his gavel What happened? Why? Senator Graham really really really wants the NSA to tell him when, how and why he has ever been incidentally collected and they aren't doing it to his satisfaction and he was Kamala-ing all over the witnesses' bumbling equivocation

Not only did she dress in a vulva costume, but they all had buttons that said "don't fuck with us, don't fuck without us" Might be fun to put a poster too.

Ok, I know this maybe a UO and I know that most people in political office are very wealthy, but DH and I make more than that combined and for the D.C. metro area, that is not a huge salary (we are so definitely not upper class here!), especially when considering most of these people are paying for housing here and at home. If they have kids and have child care expenses or student loans still, aye! (Not to say I have any idea about spouses). I know some reps sleep on a mattress in their office while the house is in session because they can't afford alternative housing. I know this doesn't apply to ALL, but I guess I think it wouldn't be a bad thing for those that need a little extra money to get it, via some kind of housing grant or something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think we just build some government housing and thats where they stay instead? (I'm partly kidding but mostly serious). Heres why We had a governors mansion. It was donated to the state (it was later sold). Because it was not up to whatever, each gov is allowed to have their own residence and a stipend for that housing. So our current governor gets paid to live on his own ranch. And Risch is currently one of the wealthiest senators. So yeah I dont see me feeling sorry for them having to pay out of their own pockets for somewhere to live or sleep on a mattress in the office. Perhaps being uncomfortable for a few months out of the year should make them appreciate public programs better.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hey. No one is arguing housing in DC--or pretty much any major city--is not ridiculously expensive. It's just that a person with a net worth of $5.6 million and a salary well above the average asking for the taxpayers to give members of Congress a $30K stipend so they can have "a decent quality of life" while shitting on the needs and concerns of the poor and middle class, saying they just need to retrench, give up luxuries and even some of their basic needs, and BOOTSTRAPS is bullshit worthy. I don't feel sad for them when they have no sympathy or sense of humanity for the people they serve who do not have their privileges. Obviously if you have a net worth like that I think it's unnecessary- so an across the board raise wouldn't be appropriate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Congressional dorm sounds like a great idea. I wonder what they did with the old house page dorm. Now that is an idea!

Build congressional housing then. Geo batching military service members have to live in dorms. Welcome congresspeople hope you enjoy it. I think group housing like that would be fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't feel sad for them when they have no sympathy or sense of humanity for the people they serve who do not have their privileges. This exactly! Everyone else has to use their bootstraps, but congress should get special considerations. And I'll point out that they only spend about 1/3 of the year in session. Now I know people say they are still working when they aren't in session, but part of that should be spent talking to constituents and I don't see that happening for a big chunk of congress people/senators.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I don't have a problem with this either. Our state just went to an independent commission for legislators' salaries because no rep will be caught dead voting for pay increases for themselves. The only reason Chaffetz is saying this now is because he doesn't need to get re-elected.
