The pace of season 7 just didn't fit in at all with the rest of the series. I mean, Gendry spent about 3 full seasons in a boat just rowing around in circles in the Gulf of Mexico. Then in season 7 he ran from Fargo, ND to The Stanley Hotel, sent a raven to Dany at Dragon Breath Lair on the Coast, Dany receives said raven, rounds up her dragon troops and swoops down onto The Walking Dead in about 36 seconds. I don't mind them picking up the pace at all, but it just doesn't fit it with the pace of the other 6 seasons. That's an uphill run too, I think all the rowing really helped his endurance with it.

No wonder he made it there so fast! If he survives season 8 he should consider trying out of the Olympics. Or maybe the Hunger Games - depending on who wins the Game of Thrones.

Binge mode also made the point that he was literally just talking about how that was the first time he saw snow and somehow they determined that he was the fastest. What??

I'm sure altitude and cold weather had no impact on his lung capacity!

Random thought of mine. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been seasons of buildup (of everyone kind of meeting up again or for the first time), but season 7 seems really rushed to me! This could just be because of my binge watching though, maybe it felt different watching it live. But I guess too that they only have 7 episodes Vs 10 for that season. this is a huge criticism of season 7. the creators have specifically said that season 8 won't feel that way, so yay. (although i really didn't mind it much.)

I didn't mind Season 7's pace. It made up for all the time Dany was wandering the desert somewhere or the Lannisters were continuing to be terrible and winning. At the end of the day I am a simple lady who wants good dialogue and to be entertained. Season 7 gave me that. Same. I also thought Aryas training in Bravos took thousands of years. that's because her training took thousands.of.years. i was over it.

It finally got exciting at the end when she had to fight that chick with no sense of humor. But I feel like that could have been wrapped up in just a few episodes.

I hated the amount of time Stannis spent in his cave moaning and bitching about everything.

I’ve been avoiding this thread but I am listening to a few podcasts that are recapping and prepping for the last season. I was worried there were spoilers in here.
I’ve come to two important conclusions:
1. I want to know who sits on the Iron Throne in the end. Probably no one as zombies will destroy it, but alas...
2. I’ve chosen to firmly believe that however HBO ends it is not how Martin will end it. The show really is left wanting without his narrative to underpin it so I choose to believe his will be richer, more nuanced, and more satisfying. And since he will never finish the books, my opinion will last forever.

I've been lurking, but am excited for Season 8. I felt compelled to share that yesterday my Mom called me and asked me if I watched GOT. Apparently my parents are visiting somewhere where is a GOT tour that's popular. I told her she should do it just to take pictures for me and that in general it would probably be gorgeous scenery. I don't think I convinced her though.

From listening to Binge Mode, I feel like I am way off in my feelings about Aryas journey. They talk about her getting so "dark" and what kind of path she is on and I'm like YAAASSS GIRL AVENGE THE STARKS!!!! THE NORTH REMEMBERS!!!! Omg same. The show runners are all "she's traumatized and on a really disturbing journey" and I'm like yeah girl! Kill that asshole!

I was watching Season 6 episode 7 or 8 and I saw the actress who plays Zoe on Game of Thrones playing a woman in Mereen preaching in the streets about God. It's cool to be able to spot things like that watching it the second time around.

Another thing about watching the show for a second (plus) time that’s amazing - Cersei just got thrown into the cell by the Septa, and she tells her “Look at my face. It’s the last thing you will see before you die.” And that line is 100x better the second watch because we know what she does to that woman. The first time, you are still going through the shock phase of what just happened and you can’t fully appreciate what she says because OMG SHE JUST GOT ARRESTED AND THROWN INTO A CELL HOLY SHITTTTT

Oh, I also really really dislike Jon and Danaerys together. They're fire and ice so I'm okay with them together. But mostly I just want more of Jon's butt and a sex scene or two this next season. So for that reason alone I fully support the relationship.

We need to decide how to stream HBO. We have hulu, so is it best to add on to that? HBO go or HBO now? I'm a noob. In my completely scientific single household sample set, we found that the add ons for hulu and amazon were super glitchy and thus INFURIATING to watch dramatic parts that then started buffering like this was 1998. We have had fewer problems with HBO Now.
