Battle of the Bastards was absolutely unbelievable. I was speechless after it. Then I couldn’t shut up about it for weeks. I can’t understand how they can top that. There were some amazing battles in s7 too, but no, there’s nothing else out there like BOTB. I felt like I was going to throw up the entire time. It has to be in part because of how much I hated Ramsey. He made me sick. I am still so invested in this show and these characters, and I get nervous at every battle, but I can’t imagine feeling like that again. I hope/don’t hope I am wrong about that this season because I loved/hated it.

I don't want to say its name since people are still behind on the show and I don't know how to spoiler.

IM so mad that DH signed up to work overnight on the 14th. I may have to secretly watch it without him. This thread is killing me / reigniting my love for GOT

My love for Jon was really solidified with that episode. Yes! At first I was like - I don’t really get the hype. Then he died and I was like, well damn I guess I am attached. Then the BotB and I was like making bargains with all the gods to just have him make it through. This time through my rewatch, I was like omg he saved the puppies in the first episode 😍😍

I think his character growth is underrated. Even though he was a bastard and not treated fairly, he still had a good upbringing and when he went to the Wall, he was stuck up, like his shit didn't stink. He still had that leadership quality in spite of this, and he befriended Sam. Seeing his leadership skills grow over the seasons was really cool.

Over the last year, I started reading again. Now I’m reading about 7 books/month, give or take. Should I read the GOT books, or will the differences bother me? My “to read” list on Goodreads is so lengthy sometimes it is intimidating, so the thought of adding more books for a story I already know seems unnecessary. But I feel like if I am a true fan, I should read them 🤔 I am a read the books after starting the TV show person. The differences have not bothered me at all. If anything it just felt like I got more information/background. I actually found it helpful to have voices and faces to go with the names even if the descriptions in the book don't always line up perfectly with the TV character. They did take me longer than anything else I've ever read to get through. Rather than chapters it's broken into chunks of a specific character's point of view so it was easy to chip away at the huge number of pages that way.

Yes I love cheating and being able to visualize movie characters in my head rather than coming up with my own person. My imagination isn’t the best lol

Also, what made BOTB even better was the fact that we weren’t bored by the next episode. Those two episodes back to back were perfection. Fucking Cersei.

The music leading up to the blast when Lancel is trying to crawl to the candle is the best. I listen to it on repeat all the time. It's probably my favorite non-theme piece of music in the entire series.

I am finding this 2nd watch through 100x better than I thought it would be. The nerves aren’t there. You know what’s coming. You talk back to the characters because you know what’s coming their way (or maybe that’s just me 🙈) You notice other things along the way. You remember why you loved or hated someone. DH rolled his eyes hard when I said I was cramming all of these in as fast as I could, but he has been loving it just as much.

Ugh poor Arya. First she is there to witness her father’s beheading, and then she gets to The Twins just in time to see the aftermath of her brother and mother’s murders. She’s definitely not one of my favorite, but I really feel for her a lot during this show. This is one of those times.

I went to the GoT concert both times they did it and hearing Ramin Djawadi play it live was unbelievably awesome.

I just thought of this one, too, but it took me until our second watching to realize Tommen was not only played by two different actors but the actor who plays him second also played Martyn Lannister in season 3, I think it was. That blew my mind.

We were able to watch 3 episodes last night! I have to admit some parts were confusing to me. I had forgot about some of these characters so I was having to ask mh lots of questions.
I’m going to need to watch a video of Bran. A bit confused about him too. So now that he has a mark of the white walker, he can see things from their perspective? Like it seems to me from that one scene he was watching the Hardhome battle. Then some big explosion...so he sees stuff from the past?
We are only able to watch one episode tonight since mh has plans, so will watch episode 9 tonight and the finale tomorrow!

Until this year I had never watched the respective seasons close enough together to notice.

Diordra did you end up catching up now? I think you were about a season ahead of me so just seeing if you are now caught up! You may have said so in this thread but I avoid reading stuff still since I’m not done.

This seasons battle is supposed to be the longest in history (of TV and film) and I’m very nervous, excited and overwhelmed.

oh dear thanks for the warning! Last episode I cried at was when Stannis’ daughter died so I’m due for another cry I suppose. The further I get the harder I am finding it to not read ahead. Like this is killing me not being able to read about what episode 5 is about now lol just need to wait another 7-8 hours...must be strong haha That episode was one of the hardest. She was so pure and good. That episode is still one of the hardest of any show to watch for me, tied with Herschel from TWD. Just awful

One thing that I’ve noticed is that it seems so many characters are so close to meeting all of a sudden. Theon and Yara should hopefully see Dany soon it seems like. The Hound is alive and well and seems like he will be going North? Arya finally is leaving that weird faceless man guy, so I’m going to assume she’s heading out to hopefully find her family. Everyone seems so close to finally all being together!
