Yogurt I’m so so sorry. Ds1 was like that. It was not good at all. Do you have a rock n play? That’s what ds2 used and where dd sleeps now. When they are old enough to transition to the crib it’s a little bit of a rough one but over in like a week. I would much rather deal with that a few months out and get some sleep now.

I do have a rnp. I keep reading online how they are only safe for supervised naps. So, I'm hesitant. Everything that works seems like a risk, it's so hard to know what to do.

I used schedules from precious little sleep and Moms on Call with DD1. DD1 was a terrible napper, so it was a loose schedule, but fortunately she learned to consolidate night sleep early-on, which made the lack of naps more tolerable.

H sleeps pretty well at night so far, but I typically try to keep him awake for the hour or two before bedtime, which I think helps (I noticed a big difference when I wouldn't do this before). He also rarely sleeps while being held, usually only when we're at my mom's or something because there's no way she's putting him down, lol.
I don't know what will work, but if it were me those two things would be what I would try to focus on first during the day. Not holding him as much/to nap, and trying to keep him awake more/in the evening.
But oof, I'm sorry and I hope he gets on a better schedule soon! That is rough :/

I also used Moms on Call to get DD on a schedule. She started sleeping 9 hour stretches and started actually napping.

When do you like to start trying for a schedule? I’m trying to do things at a more realistic pace with this kid since I felt so out of it with my oldest. I obsessed over her eating and sleeping and it was so unhealthy for me. My PPA/PPD was really bad.

What do you do to keep your baby awake during the day? I feel like everything I do just puts him to sleep.

What do you do to keep your baby awake during the day? I feel like everything I do just puts him to sleep. Changing his diaper without fail wakes him up. Then I hold him up, talk to him, move him in multiple different positions, set him in different contraptions, hand him to my husband (guaranteed to make him start crying 😂). Mostly just poke and prod him, lol.

I don't know but I've started wondering if I should start paying attention to when he naps and start putting him in the crib for specific times/etc to get a schedule started but....I haven't yet. I just hang out with him until he gets tired or I need to do something then put him in the bouncer to sleep usually.

Although that would also require me to move all the clothes out of his crib and sort them and who wants to do that?

We've been using the RNP and the bassinet top of the PNP for sleep. The only thing I'm doing schedule wise is to try and keep his awake time to an hour if possible. I've also started when putting him down anytime after 8 it's in a dark room. I actually leave him in the dark living room while DH is one room over in his office. I get some sleep in the first stretch and he brings him up when he's ready to eat. I need to go back and read about baby sleep again. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong.

Oh crap. I forgot about wonder weeks. I’m scared to ask but what are wonder weeks? www.thewonderweeks.com It's a theory that babies get fussy as they move through mental leaps. They didn't always line up for my DD but she did get extra fussy/ crappy sleep/cluster feeding when she would make developmental leaps not just mental but things like learning to roll over, crawl, etc. as well. Sometimes it's just nice to blame a baby's crakiness on something slightly tangible. Really the biggest thing I remember from DD is when she went through the 4 month sleep regression. But we've got some time before that happens.

That 4 month sleep regression was the worst. It was really accurate for us, not all the other weeks/leaps exactly lined up though. But close.
It also gives you a time frame to expect the crappy sleep and crankiness, which gave me something to cling to. 😂

pambee, your baby will just be happy to sleep/be transferred to the bouncer? Amazing. How do you get this to happen, I need some help, lol. Yes, usually. 😬 Sometimes I have to sit and bounce it with my foot a bit for him to really fall asleep but like today he napped for 3 hours in it. Sometimes he just chills out in it until he dozes off (which reminds me I need to find the toy bar for it). I'm not really a hold all the time/super snuggly kind of mom, so I've always tried to set him down more than give in and hold him, because I need my space. I've never co-slept either, mostly because it freaks me out. I don't know if that actually helps at all or if it's just all luck but E was the same way. So I feel like I trained them from the beginning to be cool in their own spaces, lol. Not that it works all the time, but a lot of the time. I also remember when E got a little older it got harder to transfer her, so I'm sure that's coming again too. Eta- swaddling. Kid loves to be cozied up in blankets or a swaddle, so he's usually content wrapped up.

Someone please tell me that insanely bad period like cramps are a sign of something happening, bc my GOD. I was woken up 3x tonight feeling like my uterus was going to rip itself out of my body. On top of the times I was woken up to go pee 😭 Then they just disappear when I stand up.

Dear baby,
Thank you for the 12-3:30 stretch of sleep. It's now almost 5. You can go back to sleep. I promise I'll see you again around 7. Deal?

No, it didn’t - never does actually, I’ve been having period cramps while sleeping on my right side for a few weeks. Apparently now it’s both sides. They aren’t contractions. My midwife said it’s Braxton Hicks, but I thought BH weren’t supposed to be painful?

I’ll bring it up with the midwife. JUST COME OUT BABY, JEEZ.

pambee, that's awesome. I held DD too much and now she's all up in my space still. I like to say she'd climb back in the womb if she could. 😂 With these 2, I was a lot better about setting them down at first, but I think 2 weeks of grandparents holding them all the time may have broken them. 😭 Now that I'm here alone I'm going to work at it again.

Tomorrow we’re entering 2 weeks of grandparents visiting Eames, and I’m worried that they will break her of being able to sleep without being held. How hard is it to go back to having baby(ies) sleep on their own?

How hard is it to gho back to having baby(ies) sleep on their own? Today hasn't been bad! We did 2 naps on their own, swaddled tight. They drifted off after a bottle. Then we just came back from a stroller walk/nap.

That’s good to hear Eames! Ugh...I put DD back to bed an hour and a half ago, and she wants to eat again. Maybe she’s growing?
