Thank you cakewench and jaidit. I know the royals are sort of position-less on things. It still seems like one could just not wear the brand. That's not really a position. More of a choice. I actually don't understand why they are so quiet on political matters. Could've been helpful during the Brexit vote. Is it so they don't end up with a vote to get rid of the monarchy?

It’s kind of beyond me why kate would wear a brand that has been under fire for blantantly racist clothing. There are so many choices and she has such a platform.

Truly. It's not that hard to wear clothes from non-controversial designers and still look great. And especially with the palaces stepped-up efforts to keep racist remarks about Megan off their media, wearing Gucci and ignoring their blackface b.s is extremely head-tilty.

Kate visiting Henry Fawcett Centre in Kensington to see how the Lambeth Early Action Partnership works. Kate is in a shirt by Gucci and trousers by Jigsaw This is what I’ve been waiting for. The pants are wider than I care for but it works for her and I love the more “relaxed” look

I wish Kate wasn’t wearing Gucci, because I really love this look and it’s so nice to see her in pants - not a coat dress. The pants fit her perfectly, and I love the cut (especially when she’s so often in skinnies when we do see her in pants).

Kate always looks so happy when she’s interacting with kids. I was going to say this! She is my favourite when she’s hanging out with kids. I think she truly likes them or she is an excellent actress.

It is considered unconstitutional for a Monarch to vote, so I imagine that is why they just keep quiet altogether. The royal family needs support from parliamentarians from both sides so they stay neutral, and they are supposed to represent the whole country. The Queen does meet with the Prime Minister every week so I am sure that she does discuss political things with him/her.

To me, there is a difference in being politically neutral and wearing clothing by racist or problematic designers.
Meghan does a fabulous job of using fashion as more than pretty clothes. Kate obviously does not care to do so. Don't @ me all you Kate lovers.

Also, that shirt is pretty but really nothing special or specific to Gucci. I thought the younger monarchs were trying to be more approachable or relatable - whynnot get essentially the exact same shirt from, say, Banana Republic or Club Monaco or JCrew? The optics would be good. It’s not like it’s a couture gown.

She's not exactly doing a great job of that when she chooses to wear Gucci, given the blatant racism.

What's up with Gucci? I think I missed something. The blackface sweater insanity - too under-caffeinated right now to remember if there's been other controversies, but that's the most recent thing. vert de ferk

I think she truly likes them or she is an excellent actress. I wonder if she would have been a teacher in another life I also wonder if she’s sad she can’t ever be a SAHM to her kids and she has to work even with all that money

The optics would be good. It’s not like it’s a couture gown. Kate’s been known to wear high street brands since day one, so it’s extra WTF when she does turn up in designer that she chooses one that’s so shitty. I do think it’s difficult in general for people in Kate and Meghan’s position to find clothes that are relatable, not super expensive, and ethically sound. Like Meghan does a great job of highlighting ethical clothing and brands but most of her wardrobe is ducking expensive. Kate usually does a great job of wearing lower cost items but most of them have ethical implications.

Ok I’ll say it...
Kate wearing the pants just makes sense for this event... she’s on the floor playing with children.
And the shirt... well that’s been covered.
