Hi all!
Now that all the babies are 1, how is everyone doing?
We are doing well. Little man is walking all over. He is very funny. He eats great but is a tiny bit pickier than his sister was at this age. Not much but a little.

J is doing great! We have her first ophthalmologist appointment this week to address her strabismus. Her nickname is "turd" because she is just sooooo stinking mischievous!! She loves to grab something she knows she's not supposed to have, giggle maniacally, and run away. We all have cabin fever as I know I whine about every week. More snow and bitter cold are on their way and I am just OVER IT. Otherwise though things are good :-)

Our kids are still too young for silverware, right? I feel like I was too slow to introduce it with my other kids so I want to stay on top of it this time. Part of my problem is I am just so uptight about messes 🙈🙈 (I know, I know)

peachesncream, we haven't been doing silverware but last night B took the fork from me and fed herself mac and cheese. It wasn't any messier than her throwing stuff on the ground like she always does. So I guess I am at least going to give her a fork or spoon with her food from now on.

Part of my problem is I am just so uptight about messes 🙈🙈 (I know, I know) I give him a fork or spoon but I usually put the food on it for him and he puts it in his mouth. Sometimes I just let him play with it with his food. He doesn’t stab stuff too well and can sort of scoop a little.

Also have not done silverware but guess we should try! V is suddenly much more opinionated. Or rather, more vocal with her opinions. We just called her "tater junior" this morning because she didn't like me taking DS's waffle away from her. "Tater" was DS's nickname for "dictator" when he was in his demanding phase. LOL. She is just the cutest though. A neighbor saw us outside yesterday and just couldn't believe her eyes. We all sort of hibernate around here over the winter but have a very friendly neighborhood. So she hadn't seen V much lately and thought she had gotten so big and had changed so much.
Anyone else that went off dairy now having trouble reintroducing? Ugh, it upsets my stomach so much. I got some of those lactase tablets to try but just wondering if this is going to be a long term thing or just temporary.

H likes to hold onto the spoon and put it in his mouth, but he really can’t pick anything up with it and most of the time any food I put on, falls off. I need to try a fork.
He’s had the week off from daycare due to a stomach bug. I think the vomiting has finally stopped thank goodness.
Still no words but can mimic mama and dada when I say them. He’s starting to learn his body parts. He gets so excited when I ask where his tummy is and grabs onto it. He runs around like crazy and is really good at the stairs. I’m excited for the snow to be gone so he can play in the backyard. He hates putting his snowsuit and boots on so there hasn’t been much playing outside recently.

Mine mostly just uses his fingers but insisted on using the spoon at the sushi restaurant the other night and was actually getting some soup in his mouth. He wouldn't let us help.

We are ok. Some really annoyed respiratory virus has been going on at our house. Both kids had ear infections last week and are now ok but I am sick and wasn't getting better. I started abx yesterday for a sinus infection and got a steroid shot. We all need to be healthy for our ski trip late next week. DS1 is very excited for snow.

Since then we have all been healthy for maybe 3 weeks straight. Other than that, someone is a snotty coughing mess. I am grateful that it isn’t something serious but I can’t wait to get it over with. I need spring so I can open windows and get some of this stuff out of my house. Lysol can only do so much.

OMG I stayed up with the neighborhood ladies drinking wine until almost midnight. Then V was up from 1-2. After 2 cups of coffee though I'm hanging in there. I wasn't drinking much (just had 1 glass) but I couldn't leave b/c 2 of the ladies kept fussing at each other and I couldn't leave the drama. I'm normally a no drama person and I don't want it myself but I was quite interested to see how it all played out. Nothing major, just some differences of opinion and there was enough humor that I don't think anyone will still be upset today.

easternshoregirl nights like that are so important and fun and I find them usually worth it for the relationship-building and just feeling like myself again. I hope you feel the same way, and I hope you're not suffering too much today as a consequence. Alllll the coffee to you ;-)

Hi.
We have had a low key day do far. We have already had lunch and now the baby is napping. G is watching little einsteins and MH is cleaning the snow off of my car. I am heading to work for a few hours. We threw a load of laundry in so at least something is getting done.

I just snuck some Ben and Jerrys nondairy ice cream while inside "fixing dinner" and everyone else is outside. I am steaming some tamales while I chow down but the ice cream was my main motivation for coming inside!

Hi! Today was Livs bday party. My sister made her smash cake. It's gorgeous!! Winter is coming all this weekend. I'm tired of it.

Liv is 30", just under 20#, and has 8 teeth.
She barely gained any weight in 3 months. It's slightly terrifying. My ped was not concerned at all but I am. She's meeting all the other milestones though. Tell me it's all OK.

Add us to the constant sick camp. I could take it if we didn’t end up at the pediatrician all the time. We’ve had 6 sick visits since 1/1 and last night ended up in the Er with H because they thought he had cellulitis/sepsis in his eye.

sunfrogger your sister did an awesome job on the cake. Henry is 27” and 17 lbs 12 oz at last visit. He gained less than 2 ounces in a month and has only ever gained 2 pounds between visits. Our pediatrician isn’t concerned though because he’s following his own growth curve and is proportionate between height and weight. Plus they said they could tell based on what he eats and the fact that he’s not skin and bones that they know he’s eating but just small.

She's meeting all the other milestones though. Tell me it's all OK. I think that is the norm for the 9 to 12 month gap - they are sooooo much more mobile and adjusting to table food. If your ped isn't concerned I wouldn't see any reason to be. I pulled up J's chart just to check - we took her to the doc 1/19 for an ear infection and she weighed 20.1, on her 1/23 appointment she weighed 19.4. My ped didn't even mention it and I wouldn't have known if I didn't just check so obviously some day to day variation is normal as well.

However I found a few articles that really pushed that WHO charts should be used for breastfeeding kids under 2. When I looked at her weight on the WHO chart she was perfectly average for her age. I think the CDC ones are skewed because so much of the data is from an era when formula was pushed. Anyway. I'm still just basically trying to fatten her up. Lol. She's doing great developmental wise.. She says "dis", and grabs my boobs when she's thirsty. She also signs more and please. I feel like I had taught Emma way more at this age while working from home w her 2x a week so I'm a little annoyed at my very expensive daycare.

kbw also Ty! My sister is a great baker. She's learning more decorating kinda stuff to perfect her craft but her stuff is always killer in taste. It's a huge hobby of hers. I challenged her to pick something new she wanted to try and practice with for Livs smash cake. And she killed it!

Also hiiii everyone! We are doing ok over here. MH and I just got back from a week vacation through his work. We went on a cruise with some of his coworkers. It was lots of fun but I missed the girls like crazy. And now my 3yr old is sick with a stomach bug today. H had it on Thursday while we were gone, which breaks my heart that she didn’t have her mama here for her 😭💔 oh well. I guess I should be grateful I didn’t have to deal with it haha. Add us to the “always sick” club. Someone in our house is sick at all times and it’s getting old. I’m soooo over the winter

My 3.75yr old is in 5t and has been since the fall, and is in 10-11 shoes. H is such a peanut compared to her and it’s hard to not worry about the size differences haha. So I totally get it!

I'm around. I went to Dierks Bentley Thursday night without DH and drank quite a bit. I really needed a night away!! We slept until 9:30 the next morning, insane! Then when I got back to town my niece and sister were here to spend the weekend. Having her here solidifies that we will not be having a third kid. I cannot handle 3.

DD is keeping us on our toes. We had some people out working on our AC today, which meant that people were walking through the play room. I had to entertain her downstairs and I'm exhausted.
I have a random question. Does anyone have favorite toddler socks? I haven't bought any since her newborn socks, which worked for a long time because of her small feet. Looking for some that are on the thinner side so she's not too warm in the Texas summer, but she needs them in her shoes.
