This will be long bc analysis paralysis has been around for a while. We’ve lived in the space for almost 10 months now and I feel like I know where I want the eye drawn and what we need for best function — mostly. I don’t feel prepared to tackle the bigger more used spaces yet, so I’m working on the smaller more inconsequential rooms of the house. ... Area 1 is as soon as you walk up the stairs. I have this storage bench, and I’d like to do something visual with the wall above it. Although I have read that they are starting to go out of style, I still like the idea of a gallery wall. I feel like this might be a nice place for it, but I don’t know if I’d want to do family photos or just different sets of coordinating art work. Because that would take me time (and money), I want something in the space so it looks finished for now, so I have the mirror that is off to the side (I’d hang it horizontally), I have 2 very large versions of that mirror in the basement (The frames are the same color but the etching is a little different), and I have a round painted mirror that currently is turquoise but I would re-paint to use in the space. I do want to put a runner down but I don’t know if I need it to coordinate with the second area I’ll post or if I should just do a smaller throw/area rug in front of the bench, so you don’t actually see the two rugs together from whatever angle. Would you go with in the confines of the bench for wish or would you go smaller, and what kind of frames for black-and-white pictures? All white? All different sizes? I need to get on Pinterest when I get home. |

If you wanted to do a mirror I would most definitely do a round, it’ll break up the squareness of the bench and space   This is probably my fav example  |

I like the idea of a gallery and the mirror. What about canvas prints that don't require frames. I say this as I realize I am thinking photo gallery and not art work. I do think mismatched frames are a trendy look

re: mirrors, vino— I like the second one best, but mostly bc I think the third is best viewed in real life. I can’t see the dimension of of it. I love the mismatched gallery walls! I never thought of that, but it might be the way I go. The third one is my favorite! |

I'd do a round mirror or gallery wall! I'd probably do the gallery wall larger than the length of the bench... not sure if that's the right way to do it though.

I went to a second hand store and bought a few frames, sprayed them the colours I wanted, went to Homesense and got a couple new ones and added them in, and it looks pretty good. |
