Morning! We have a little layer of ice, but the temps are supposed to warm up so hopefully it’ll all melt. Hope everyone has a good day!

Morning! Last day of vacation over here, we had a lovely walk in the woods this morning and going to the indoor play area in a little bit because the kids really want to & I’m a sucker for their pleas. Hope you all have a good day!

Morning! I'm back at work. A seems to have a little cold (and is also getting 4 teeth), but is in good spirits so hopefully he stays that way!

Icy here too but warming quickly. C told me this morning that his girlfriend wants to marry him and he doesn't want to. I told him to tell her you are too young. Good lord!
Another coworker got the flu. It is now 20% of our office that has had the flu.

The boys have fought literally since their eyes opened.. idk how to make them get along. The constant fighting is killing me. and I realized as I was trying to make breakfast that we're out of milk. My dad was supposed to get some.

ETA: I only put them in there for a timeout, not like the day... just to be clear.

Morning!
More cold and rain here. I need to run to Carter's and the grocery store while the kids are at school, then I am coming home and wallowing in my bed until pick-up. We have a playdate after school with some friends from MOPS.
The Pre-K night was great...we met the Kindergarten teachers and principal (all of whom I really liked) and toured the school. They divided us into groups and we rotated through the 3 K classrooms; each teacher did a lesson (one science, one math, one reading), kind of as an example of what they'll be doing next year. All 3 teachers had the kids up and moving, singing or dancing as part of the lesson and they integrated some technology. B really enjoyed it and I feel like he's well-prepared 'socially' (raised his hand to be called on, etc).

The other day I found the kids in B's room "reading" a new Highlights magazine we got and doing all the Hidden Pictures. They were happy to do that for b/n 30 minutes and an hour. It was AMAZING. But then yesterday they were picking at one another the whole day (being cooped up is not helping). I'm holding onto the magazine-reading episode to give me hope, lol.

Back at work today. I'm still trying to decide if I take tomorrow off or not for the interview. We get 4 personal days at the beginning of every year (plus PTO that accumulates), I have already taken 1. If we leave the company, they do not pay us out for the personal days, but we do get paid out for PTO. I have so many questions for this other company, that I don't know that I would leave, so I just can't decide. wedding Evie wrote a note for 2 of the boys in her class, she told me the notes both said 'I love you' but I didn't get to see them before she sealed the envelopes. There are 3 boys and 8 other girls in her class. I asked why she didn't write all of them notes and she said because it would make her hand hurt. Okay, but what about all the other kids you didn't give notes to? Won't they feel left out? She said she writes them notes during school. It will be interesting to see if she actually gives them to the boys today and what is said.

If I had the money and space I’d build a hay shed next to my house, bails if hay to climb, one of those trampolines that is sunken in the ground, little theatre stage, a chalkboard wall, a girl can dream right?!

I just signed Cadence up for soccer. It's a 10 week program at her school and she insisted she wanted to do it. I don't think they even play any actual games, it's just teaching the fundamentals....I think. Mh asked how many things she is currently signed up for. I really don't think it matters, but yes, she does quite a few things, but she still enjoys all of those things (except swim class, but I'm not budging on that one. She has to get through the next level before she can stop that class) It's only for a short time and it's fairly cheap, I don't have to drive her anywhere since it is during the school day, so screw it, let her do it. It gets her out of the classroom and doing more activity.

Atticus did soccer and dance at DC and now X does it, too.
NBD, they get outside with their friends to move around a little more that day and since they would just be missing out on circle time or whatever, I don’t see why it matters.
The DC activities could never lead to feeling overscheduled, I don’t think.

I would love to let LO do everything he wants but timing doesn’t usually work out.

Speaking of dance how much does everyone whose kids are in dance pay? The school has a dance program and it’s $50 a month for a 30 min class a week. Is that a good price? Plus we have to buy him ballet shoes and the shirt.

Sounds like the right price to me.

Plus we have to buy him ballet shoes and the shirt. $50-60/month for one lesson per week is what I’ve seen when I’ve looked in the past. ETA: the ‘sports’ class B did last year was $55/month for 45 min/week. Golf is either $70 or 80, can’t recall, for a 6 week session, so basically $12ish/lesson. Tennis was similar. I think that is about what the market will bear...$10-15/lesson for this age...in our area, anyway.

Out of the house🙌
Poor j cried at dropoff, he loves his home days. Hoping he's having a great day, we had to bring snowpants so they should be having fun outside. Especially since I was too lazy to get the kids outside yesterday. Lots of meetings and catching up on work today.

I'm jealous of the class at DC opportunities. That's the ideal way to do it. The girls love soccer but I usually only sign them up for it during the summer because it's hard to do during the school year with schedules.

The snow boots I ordered for Cass finally arrived 2 weeks late after most of the snow melted. Didn't stop her from walking around the house last night in absolutely nothing but snow boots.

Morning! This morning when I got to work and parked as I was getting out of my Jeep it started rolling backwards. So I quickly hit the brakes and assessed what the problem was. The shifter was in Park but still rolling. So I set the Emergency brake. It would not go in gear at all. I called a mechanic and he came out to check it out. This happened before and I had it towed somewhere to be fixed. But this time the guy was able to fix it where it was. It was just the shifter cable that came loose. He Spent less than 5 minutes to plug it in place and charged me $20. But thats ok. My biggest worry through this was I was afraid I would be stuck at the office and not be able to go get lunch today and be hungry! Crisis averted! Plus I can even get home tonight now!

Gah just called the ES and the French program open house is TONIGHT. The calendar says it was this morning, but another spot said tonight. Of course it's at 6, no kids, and I agreed to pick j up at 5 bc he's participating in some research study at school and they have him scheduled for late today. (Researchers at the University observe kids and occasionally do studies that are basically iPad games). Hoping mh can go and I'll go to the next one 🤞

Morning!
Work was busy this morning, but it’s slowing down.
I also signed M up for soccer at school. He wanted to do it, so he will get an hour class a week where they teach fundamentals for 40 minutes, then let the kids have a “game” for last 20 minutes. It was $115 for 2.5 months.

When I got wind of it yesterday, I called the school office and they were like, "Well, we try to get the word out". How, via carrier pigeon? Apparently they just send letters home with current students and hope if you have younger kids, you'll show up, and tell your friends/neighbors who aren't connected to the school already. eta: luckily the actual program was great so I'll be charitable and forgive them, lol.
