Our school doesn’t usually tell if people are sick but this year we have had two notices posted about things going around. They only do that if it’s a number of kids with the same thing. I appreciate not having to worry over every little thing. I always tell them when C has strep and so if anyone else has had anything if C gets sick and they tell me. I think they just don’t want to create needless worry. What a crap afternoon lahdeedah.

Our old daycare/school put notices out. I really only freaked out about lice. I agree with wedding though, it can cause a lot of extra unnecessary worry/freaking out. I've never gotten a notice at C's new school and that's fine with me. I don't need to know every time a kid is sick. I assume if half the class is out with a stomach bug or something, we will get notice.

I haven’t received a notice at all this year regarding illness. Josie’s old school sent one out about lice one time and a reminder that it was flu season and that they were doing their best to lessen germs by cleaning things a bit extra each night.

H's immune system is awesome, so I appreciate the heads up on what he's going to catch next. It's not unnecessary worry for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All daycares and teachers should respect HIPAA. We do get general notice about lice or reminder about policy when hfm is going around. I think they have obligations on certain things like viruses that get reported to CDC (chickenpox, measles). But no one should be able to identify the kid from the info provided by teachers/ staff. That doesn't mean that other info you have from your child or observation can't identify them

The director always sends out the emails so we can't even tell what class it's in. I did know J's class had lice bc all the stuffed animals and pillows we're packed up for a while.

Although I see no harm in just posting reminders or FYIs about flu season, strep, that someone (who remains unnamed) has RSV, etc.

Our director sends an email out that says " A child in the XYZ class has ABC. Common symptoms of ABC are 123. If your child exhibits these symptoms..."
So only to the class he or she is in but without saying names.
The teachers there are very loose lipped. So much so that I often am able to find out things (like names of who bit in the younger classes, etc). But I am sure they would get in trouble for that if the director heard.
Edited to add - the director will randomly say something to me like "It's not someone S plays with a lot" , or "one of S's good friends" or something like that, which narrows it down fairly quickly.
