My graduation gift to DH was tickets to the battle reenactments beginning of July.
Has anyone been to the reenactments or at least where they take place?
I want to know about dress/footwear. I'm imagining tramping around in knee high weeds to get to where we'll be watching the reenactment, but this is probably not reality. Do I need to wear closed shoes and pants? Or can I wear a sundress and flip flops.
TIA

I cannot answer that. But I'm totally jealous. Also my bucket list is to ride Gettysburg on horseback.

I'm not sure where exactly the reenactment takes place, but when we went to Gettysburg Battlefield for my AP class (over 10 years ago, mind you) the only knee high weeds were in areas we weren't allowed to go. I'd figure the reenactment area will probably be shorter grass or at least areas that are flattened between the taller grass. Shade was non-existent by the battlefield too. So, I'd dress with heat (assuming typical hot weather) and walking in mind (lots of walking).

I had a work thing at Gettysburg a few years ago and we had to recreate Pickett's charge. It was winter, so the grass was fairly short and I don't know how tall it might be in the summer, but it wasn't a nice manicured lawn, it was rough and uneven. Plus it was a hill. I would plan on at least tennis shoes instead of flipflops.
