I might have pink eye. My eye is itchy but only a little red. I did Teladoc for the first time and it was awesome! My prescription is already waiting for me. I'm at work though so I will see how long I can handle the itchiness and take some sick leave if it is unbearable. No one is in today and I'm not touching my eye and washing my hands well so hopefully if it is pink eye it won't spread. Not sure how I got it since C doesn't have it. Have you been congested at all? It could just be an infection from your snot backing up into your eye. H gets that all the time and I have to use the pink eye drops. Both kids have this as we speak. Dd has been waking up screaming because it sort of ‘glued’ her eyelids shut and she can’t open her eyes. I clean them with some water and a cotton ball, 🤞🏻 it won’t last long.

Yikes lfig! Glad it was nothing. But YAY to S initiating going o the potty. That sounds painful wedding, I hate when shit like that happens of course because it's like 'DONT TOUCH YOUR EYE NO MATTER WHAT' makes me want to touch it even more, it's awful! Maybe when you get home a warm wash cloth to draw out some of the sickness....omg that sounds gross, but I'd imagine it'd feel good.

Way to go S! That's great, lfig And omg to your late-night visitor, glad your H was there with a gun JIC. A couple times at our last house our bell rang late at night. I think it was kids playing ding-dong-ditch or whatever but stuff like that always leaves me unsettled.

Hi! Got B off to school this morning and then C and I ran a couple errands. I popped into Michaels for one last Valentine thing and all the Easter stuff is out and it was so cute. I want to decorate a bit more this year since we'll actually be here for Easter, plus I am hosting book club at the end of March.
About to head back out to get B and then this afternoon we're baking more red velvet cookies for the kids' parties tomorrow.

I cannot focus on anything today. I’m flitting (not sweating!?!) from one thing to another with a very extra heavy dose of staring at Facebook mixed in. I’m Facebook friends with my real estate agent, and she just posted a picture of almost 3-year-old daughter in her car seat with the chest clip practically at her belly, one strap falling off of her shoulder and her big puffy coat on. I have never felt an urge to say something to someone but I may have to.

I’m home for lunch laying on the couch and contemplating taking a quick nap. I feel so off today. Like my body is limp noodle and could just fall over.
N had her valentines party at school today. I made the decision to be lazy and not send valentines to daycare since they won’t be there tomorrow.

guster say 'I HOPE YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH HER BUCKLED LIKE THAT'. She needs to know. Snow suits and travel coats are completely different things, I see it all the time at drop off and want to give lectures everywhere I turn. For the record, I dont...but I want to.

My in laws have a pic of my youngest niece in her car seat with horribly loose straps and a low chest clip. I talked to SIL about it years ago when she was a baby and they ignored me. Now at 4.5yrs she is in a backless booster already and she is a peanut.

It’s a celebratory picture bc they found some of the allergen free foods her daughter can have. She’s holding them in triumph! I’d like to hope that she’ll be adjusting the straps, but the big puffy coat tells a different story.

Cadence didn't get lunch. Apparently, mh left it in the car. I got a note form the teacher saying she was crying and they offered her the school lunch, but she refused to eat it. It was a plate of beans. Beans and carrots. I'd refuse it too. I texted mh saying he forgot her lunch. He insisted he didn't forget it. Then, he went and looked in his car. Yep, still there. I am not happy.

Reading this reminds me I was going to ask you guys something. I was at a birthday party a few weeks ago and a few of the moms mentioned their 5 or almost 5 year olds are no longer in a 5 point harness. S is still in his and I hadn't really considered changing it yet, but it got me thinking about it. Those that said they were out of the 5 pt harness said they were still in a high back booster, just with the regular seat belt.
I know people here (on these boards) tend to be stricter about car seat rules than people I know IRL, so I was curious if I was the outlier with S in 5 pt harness or if they are the outliers.

jewels, Cadence isn't ready for the "freedom" that a regular booster will allow. She needs to be strapped down.

I don’t think we’ll be out of the five point harness for a while. Josie is just shy of 37 pounds and 41 inches tall. We have the britax advocate. It’s a max of 65 pounds and 49 inches. So she’ll probably be in fifth grade and still riding around in that thing. Kidding (sort of). There are some of the high-back booster seat are still five point harness, and don’t use the seatbelt. We will probably go to that before anything else.

Yikes wedding, that is scary. I have never understood why, of all things, people are in a rush to 'move up' in car seats. Julia is still rear facing and will be until at least June, at 2 years 7 months old.

Charlie will be three in a month, and I am pretty sure I’m on the same trajectory for him.

I haven’t done the research into them so it’s nice to see that there are ones that transition.

Re: The car seat thing, this may be a UO, but I don't think there is way to say something without being obnoxious. I think the best you can do is post an infographic or something to FB as a PSA if you feel so inclined and call it a day. Didn't someone from N13 try to confront a friend and it blew up?
I just can't think of a way to directly broach that subject with someone without coming off like I am accusing them of being an inferior, uninformed parent. Maybe there is some kind of indirect, cautionary tale style approach I am not thinking of that might get the message across without destroying a friendship.

And I dont feel like having the same conversation every day with J about why his brother can use the big boy seat belt and he can't.. that kid will be in the harness until middle school!

dapostrophe I can appreciate where you are coming from but at some point I think this is really on the people receiving the message to learn the life skill of receiving feedback. If someone corrected me on a parenting SAFETY thing that I was doing, yes it has happened regarding a car seat when B was tiny, I would maybe be a little annoyed at first but then get to the point of 'Wow, thanks for that i didn't know that'. I feel we're really in a culture of perfection and general haste that that fact that someone truly is just trying to help is getting lost. I will generally always say something about lots of things, and it is not coming from a place of judgement, intended maliciousness etc but of caring, helping and love. So, how a person takes the message is on them.

Hi! Work was nutty this morning and I couldn’t check in like I normally do. lfig That’s great progress! Way to go S! And very strange about the night visitor. Ugh that’s not fun wedding. After M2 had his eye thing where the drops weren’t working, I heard someone say a viral eye thing it’s making its rounds. Sorry! M is in a 5pt and will be for a while. His goes to high back with seatbelt, but I don’t see him being big enough or ready for that for a long while.

My plans for the rest of the work day include finishing our taxes, get my flight for Denver, writing out the kids valentine’s cards for school, and finish making appointments for this weekend. I will feel a whole lot better once all of that is taken care of.
