Hey All, another winter month done. Hallelujah!
How's this week looking? Nothing overly exciting here. Its relatively mild today and tomorrow which is a nice change!

It’s freakishly warm here today and I would love for it to stay that way.
Poor DD has a pretty terrible diaper rash and I feel bad for her. She also threw an epic tantrum earlier so it’s been an interesting day.

Both kids are napping which is always some kind of miracle. I should be productive but instead I'm watching Netflix in bed with a bowl of popcorn. No regrets.

Worked last night so I slept eh today and woke up too early. Decided to take advantage and relax in bed and now I’m in the bath. Forgot I’m going out to dinner tonight for restaurant week with some friends so I’m pretty excited about that.
N has been having a great stretch of sleep so I’m sure that will end very soon lol. Five nights in a row of STTN. Of course I wasn’t even around for three of them to enjoy it but I’m very glad DH has been able to sleep well haha.
I’ve kind of been in a frustrated funk lately and it’s basically come down to the fact that I’m tired of being the default parent. I’ve talked to dh about it so we will see if things change, but ugh. I don’t want to just accept this is how it is but I have a hard time expecting real change. What it comes down to is I told dh I’m tired of always being the one doing shit or thinking of shit that needs to be done. And he said then tell me you need my help. And my response is I don’t want to ASK you for help, I need you to think of things on your own. You’re his parent, too. And I hate the “he’s a man, they think differently” than we do bc I know there’s are dads that are the primary parent, single dads, sah dads, and they do it just fine. So what. The. Fuck. Sigh.

addymac being the default parent is hard. I still am for a lot of things but H has gotten better about it as the kids have gotten bigger. Would it be possible for you to assign him some jobs that are always his (when he's home)? Breakfast, cleaning up after dinner, bath, etc so he becomes the default for some things? That or leave for several days so it all falls on him. (Sort of kidding because it's kind of unrealistic.)

addymac I hear you. I let DH have it the other day. All fall I was the default even though I am the one who works full-time and he is part time. It wasn't until I was basically incapacitated at 8 months pg that I convinced him that he had to step up. Now that I am on leave and he is covering my classes he has switched back to me as default. I am going to flip my shit ...

I’m sorry addymac, we go through phases like that. I think because he is home with them 3 days a week that he thinks he can check out when I’m around and everything falls on me. It feels like when we are both home on weekends everything lands on me so I feel your frustration.

addymac, being the default parent sucks. I am more ok with it since I SAH but I’ve learned to just delegate what I need to have help with.

addymac i head you lady and dh is the stay at home! Im still the one who packs diaper bags, switches out the clothes and diapers, figures out when we get rid of bottles, switch to cups, amount of screen time. Its exhausting. I will say dh is good with doing j dishes and laundry but i hate that i have to be the one to figure so much out. Hugs.

Ah thanks for the commiseration ladies. And some ideas. We will see how it goes.
I got cancelled at work for 8hours but I’m scheduled for 12 so I still have to go in at 3 til 7. Kind of sucks but it was also nice to shut my alarm off and sleep in. I just booked a massage for 11 bc my back is killing me and then I’ll get a mani pedi. Some me time but I’ll throw some errands in there bc why not.

addymac I have those same frustrations pretty frequently. I’ve been a SAHM for 4 years now, and it sucks that I somehow am responsible for 95% of the kid, dog and house responsibilities. I’ve assigned DH some tasks which helps, and some things I’ve kind of said f it. The house is never going to be as clean as I’d like until the kids are older. But the mental work bothers me most of all and for that I have no good ideas.

king26 I buy packs of Hanes socks with grips. But the kids are usually just barefoot in the house bc they don’t keep socks on.

addymac I'm late responding to this. My dh is like this. Honestly, it works so much better if I give up and tell him what to do. I'm still pissed he doesn't naturally think of it, but he's happy to know what to do, and it actually gets done versus me being annoyed at him, him being confused, and it not getting done. And eventually he learns. He gets me and the kids water at dinner time now instead of just himself. Took like four years, lol. king26. My DS1 is like this. Very shy and doesn't like large groups of new people. It's gotten better at 4, especially after starting preschool so J probably just needs time. These are the socks we used for both boys. Love them! www.amazon.com/Pairs-Toddler-Grips-Socks-Baby/dp/B076DSZBSM

king26 we buy the same socks thinkchocolate05 linked to on amazon. We also have moccasins from Robeez that have grips so he’s always in one of those two around the house.

Oh man @starzia that sounds like fresh hell. These kiddos are so unpredictable it’s stressful sometimes. I’m going alone with him to meet some friends for brunch tomorrow morning and I’m so nervous lol. I get a lot of anxiety at the idea of taking him certain places solo but I’m trying hard to get over it and make myself do things. I’m sure it will be a disaster 🤗

Woof @starzia, I’m sorry. I have resorted to no restaurants for awhile because this kid is wild and I could totally picture this exact scenario. 😬

We don’t use boosters in restaurants. They’re horrible with booths - like, T would keep moving so much that she’d almost fall under the table. I mean, it’s just as bad with her sitting on the seat but the booster adds more stress. We still use the high chair for R at home and restaurants. Neither H or I want to sit next to the kids at restaurants, it’s not peaceful. When we go out to eat with grandparents the kids get to sit on their side.

Oh we use highchair at home and restaurants as well because it contains him and its just better. At christmas we had to use a booster at an event and it was a disaster.
We took j to get his forst professional haircut yesterday and they cut off a crazy amount. He looks so cute but so grown up. The kid has a ton of hair. We then went to the mexican restaurant since he was so good. It was insanely packed, took 30 minutes to get our food, but he was good as gold. We really judge his behavior before we go out. When he is calm we go out to eat. When he is qild we dont because he then throws everything on the floor and wants out of the chair.

Oh gosh king26, poor guy. I hope he is better soon and how awful for you to start your day. I would just try small sips of water for awhile to see if he can keep it down.

Oh I forgot to say, when DS1 had it a few months ago we did tiny sips of Pedialyte. I set an alarm for every 15 min or so. He also liked ice chopped up in the blender to snowball consistency.
