I’m sorry @jubiliamtsquirrel, would you ever go someplace else? No. She's a personal friend so I would feel like I'm cheating on her if I go somewhere else. I could probably ask her if we can do kitchen hair tonight instead, but I really wanted to go to her salon because trying to parent 5 kids while doing hair in the kitchen is anything but relaxing.

Since I won't be getting my hair done tomorrow I'll have extra time to clean for Sunday. I don't really want to wait another 2+ weeks if I don't have to.

jubilantsquirrel I completely blame the time warp that is January for it. H’s birthday is 2/3 and I get it confused every single year. There’s no excuse for it, other than the last month making 31 days feel like 62975$2991

But I do agree that January is the longest month ever. Oct-Dec fly by and then it's January 15th and I'm like "how is it not Easter yet?". I did keep messing up the date just randomly. A couple weeks ago I was talking to a co-worker about the bachelorett party (bride is a former co-worker, so she's going too) and I kept saying Feb 3rd, and she was like "...the party is on Saturday" I was like "right, the 3rd". I also kept typing 3/2 to my friend when making the appointment. I guess I should be proud that I at least got the month right.

I was just texting my SIL and dog sitter at the same time and accidentally sent the dog sitter Amazon links to Taking Charge of Your Fertility and wondfo ovulation sticks.
So that’s cool.

January went by sooo slow. And this time of year is the worst stretch with no company holidays between MLK day and Easter. Easter is about as late as it can get too 😭

I don't know anyone who gets Easter Monday off. Is that a thing in the US? The only person I've known who has had Easter Friday (is that Good Friday?) Is my mom when the mortgage company she worked for took all the bank holidays. We get New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We didn't use to get Christmas Eve but they took away one of our floating holidays (went from 3 to 2) and gave us that day off instead. The last company I worked for only gave the 6 major holidays. We didn't even get Black Friday off.

I definitely have more holidays in Canada than I did in the US. We have 11 or 12 statutory (no work) holidays in Ontario. I think I got 6 in Connecticut. I guess I’ve taken it for granted.

They let the union negotiate with the companies and then give the same holidays to the rest of us and they luckily got that added. This year is a negotiation year so we don't technically have anything after labor day yet. It'll come but it's sad to look at the calendar lol. And your stretch sounds awful. For some reason it's hard to take vacation days early in the year.

We used to have dedicated vacation and sick days and they were all use them or lose them by the end of the year, so I hated using them early on in case I needed them later.

When H bought the practice we had a very unfortunate situation where we had to let everyone know that we weren’t going to have paid time off for every single calendar holiday. You know, flag day, Presidents’ Day AND the individual presidents’ birthdays, and all the other similar ones. They used to get a spring break week too. I mean, that’s awesome and all, but we got too busy to sustain it.

I believe Boeing gives their employees the week of Christmas off, paid. But I don't think they get the smaller holidays.

Did y’all hear about the incident at the Orlando airport? TW re: suicide if you look it up. We were headed towards the runway in Charlotte when they shit down the airport and we had to wait two hours in the plane to finally take off. I didn’t mind though. M was content and then fell asleep. All I could think about what it must have been like to have been going through security at that time.

MHs grandma worked for a doctor like that when she was a nurse. She worked for him for 25 years and he left half a mil when he died.
