? What did I miss? My kids hid the remote so they could keep watching kid shows instead of Sunday morning shows. He defended blackface as a youthful indiscretion Also, in general 😠😠😠😠 I shouldn't be surprised.

Re: Women for Trump. I think we need to stop looking for reasons to try to understand them that make sense to us. Let white women willing to support him own their shit.

Re: Women for Trump. I think we need to stop looking for reasons to try to understand them that make sense to us. Let white women willing to support him own their shit. So my great-aunt leads her hometown chapter of this. For as long as I’ve known her, she’s victim-blamed rape victims, doesn’t believe in sexual harassment in the work place, and thinks women are too emotional and hormonal to be in charge. Also doesn’t believe in female doctors. So I just put them all in that category of garbage people. ETA: oh, and is completely racist in case that wasn’t obvious.

A lot of women supporting 45 is due to proximal power. For a long ass time, white women have benefitted from white men being in charge. They aren't as well off as white men, but for a lot of them, if their men are diminished, then they are, too. Racism and privilege are part of that proximal power, too.

Rebecca Traister does a better job of explaining it in her book and I'm sure there are articles about it as well.

Yes- they identify more with being white and in power than with being female. I would also venture to say that many of these women have been raised to think that men should be in charge and they are not comfortable with female leadership. They may not have much experience in leadership roles themselves and are ignorant to the difficulties women in the corporate world can face. I think most come from traditional, conservative backgrounds and religion plays a big part in it too, especially in denominations where women do not have leadership roles. They know that their way of life is dependent on white men being in charge and anything else is a threat. I have a coworker who is in deep in the Trump cult. She has two sons. Felt sorry for Kavanagh. Talks about illegals and how they need to "come here legally." I've heard her make many off color remarks that are super alarming considering we are school counselors. Her son went to a Trump rally the week of the Kavanagh hearings (he is college age). She is always complaining about families taking advantage of free and reduced lunch and Medicaid. According to her, everyone is abusing it on her tax dollars. It makes me sick.

This CBS interview with Trump is batshit.
'We have very fast planes'
'We have to protect Israel. We have to protect other things that we have'

I’m sure many have the background you describe but....that’s not enough to get him elected. We need to accept that there are plenty of white, educated women with careers who voted for him as well.
