I feel like there are enough of us with outside babies to start this thread!
Anyone else awake?
I'm up pumping right now. I got discharged from the hospital this morning which is both nice and has it's downside. I miss the automatic bed which makes getting up post csection easier. Also missing someone bringing my meals to me! I forgot how hungry and thirsty BFing make me! I got a decent chunk of sleep earlier and am trying to rest extra while DD2 is still in the NICU. My milk has started coming in which is a huge relief.

Yasssd it’s finally here!! tngrl3 yay for milk coming in!! We’re on wakeup #2, which isn’t too bad compared to last night. DH was on duty for the first part of the night so I slept from like 10:45-1:15 (longest stretch I’ve had in a while), did a feeding, then went back to sleep from ~2-3:30, and now I’m feeding again. MH informed me that he supposedly only fell asleep for the first time 5 minutes before V woke up at 3:30. Maybe tomorrow he’ll actually listen to me in the afternoon when I suggest that he nap, instead of insisting on working on all the little “projects” he has come up with that he wants to do around the house while on leave.

I'm up. Ds3 slept well the first part of the night and just finished his bottle.
I usually put the TV on for a little light and to help keep me from falling asleep while feeding him/snuggling after. Why do so many channels switch to infomercials at 4am?! I just want to watch something mindless on hgtv/food network/old rerun of a decent comedy.

Up again to pump. I slept on the couch this stretch. dashook glad you were able to get a decent chunk of sleep. Sometimes even one stretch like that helps so much.

In the hospital the past 2 nights my standby was nick at night shows. Tonight I managed to find a movie that I've seen enough to be able to relax snd fall back asleep after. I hate all the infomercials. Seems like the other choice is kid's shows. Hard pass for me!

One thing I didn’t miss about being up multiple times a night was how hard it is sometimes to fall back asleep, even though you’re super tired. I didn’t go back to sleep for almost an hour after LO finished eating during his second wakeup this morning. Otherwise I could have slept 4-7 instead of 5-7.
He’s eaten and fallen back to sleep now so even though it’s definitely morning and I’m hungry, I might try to lay down with him for one more stretch and let DH deal with the big kids when they wake.

Who’s up? 🙋🏻♀️ Hopefully just me and the rest of you are having a great night of sleep!
I’ve had two...naps I guess? One from like 7-8:30 and then another from like midnight to 1:15. LO was super fussy when I went to sleep the second time and wouldn’t even settle with me holding/rocking him. He wasn’t hungry so nursing didn’t help. So that whole hour I was trying to sleep but could hear him screaming and MH cursing/stomping around trying to comfort him. Because getting mad always soothes a crying baby 😆
I think baby boy is just tired/overstimulated from today. We went to this winter carnival MH’s work hosted and it was very loud and busy. LO slept in the Lille the whole time but I’m sure it still affected him. Thankfully when MH brought him to me at 1:15 he actually was hungry so now he has eaten and is sound asleep on my chest. I’m going to rock him a bit longer then take him into bed with me and try to sleep some more.
I had to basically have a fight with MH to let me take the baby just now though. He has this overblown martyr-ish mentality about doing his part to help. I appreciate it and he has been really helpful actually. And I know this stems from him knowing he wasn’t there for me when DS1 was born and I was struggling with PPD.
In fact H remarked earlier when V was fussing that he doesn’t remember the other two being this difficult at night, and I had to hold back from laughing in his face because DS1 was so SO much worse. DH just doesn’t remember because he blissfully slept through all the nights where I just walked and walked and cried and cried for hours while holding the screaming baby who I was convinced hated me. At least with DS2 I get a lot of beautiful snuggles and other feedback to know I’m his very favorite person.
Still, it’s annoying AF to have to make a case for myself at 2 am just to get MH to go to bed and let me be. But he finally did. So wish me luck that the rest of our night is peaceful!

I'm up. Getting ready to pump. I stayed up too late earlier and now am really feeling it. I need to pay better attention to time! I also should focus on sleep while DD2 is still in the nICU because I know I'll have to wake often to feed her. My milk has come in am I thankful for that.

I was just coming on to see if there were any updates from k. Congrats lady!! I’m just rocking this sleepy boy, who has a full belly. He has gone from only wanting to sleep while being held at night to only wanting to sleep while being held BY MAMA at night. MH is acting butthurt about it but I really don’t have the patience for that so in a minute he’s back on baby duty and I’m back to sleep (hopefully).

I'm up pumping. I got a decent chunk of sleep and feel okay. They are predicting snow and ice for us tomorrow so school is cancelled. I don't think it's really going to do much but worry about how it will impact getting back to the hospital to see Abby.

tngrl3 FX the weather and roads cooperate these next couple days so you can get back and forth easily to the hospital. Have they given you a sense of how long they think A needs to stay? (Forgive me if you already posted this and I am just not remembering).

LO just gave me his longest stretch yet—about 4 hours and 15 minutes!! Granted it was in bed with me, but it’s a start.
It’s so funny how much noticeably better I feel for that. My right eyelid has been swollen and sore (stye I think) for a few days and suddenly feels less so; my nipples have been sore from the constant nursing but right now are fine (I also fell asleep with gel soothies on so I’m sure that helped).

dashook not really. Her only real issue right now is keeping her body temp up. She honestly has zero fat on her abdomen so that makes it very hard for to regulate her body temp. Her abdomen is where the IUGR really factored in. At the last growth scan when i was 35w6d it was measuring at 30w1d. Currently she is still in the fully enclosed isolette and they have been keeping the warmer on. They need to wean the heat down and then she has to be in an open bed for 24 hours while maintaining her temp during that time. She also has to pass a car seat test where she sits in her seat for 90 minutes and they monitor for any episode of apnea. That part shouldn't be an issue as she has been off oxygen for several days now. So it could be as little as 2 more days, but realistically probably more like 3 or 4. She is taking all her feeds from a bottle and my milk has come in well so I'm hoping that with help her gain. Her weight was stable yesterday after a decent drop the first few days.

I had planned to give myself a bigger chunk of sleep the first part of the night, but I woke up an hour before the alarm I set. Decided to just get up and pump since i was awake. I am at that hungry all the time stage that comes with BFing. I'm trying to eat decent and have healthy snacks on hand, but I'm blanking on options that i can just grab especially for MOtN.

tngrl3 how do you feel about bars? Like a Larabar maybe? Also Graze makes some decent little squares that I like to keep arkund. Bonus is they are oat based (good for milk making). I keep these in my diaper bag too.

dashook I like some of them so I might have pick some up. I have been eating the Belvita bar/crackers which are good. I need to make up a batch of energy bites or lactation cookies I think. Anyone have a good recipe for the cookies? Pinterest has a ton but I don't want to just pick a random recipe.

Sleep deprivation with a newborn isn’t just a matter of “my baby is up every two hours to eat so I have to get up every two hours” or “my baby cries so I can’t sleep.” People often forget that babies also are tiny terrorists who do things like nurse 4 minutes, fall asleep, resist all attempts to be woken up to feed more, then THE SECOND you lay down and get in a comfortable position to sleep, they wake up and start rooting. 😑

This is how Brynn likes to roll from about 8PM to 5AM. My nipples are destroyed 😩. Going to get some Newman’s nipple ointment hopefully today and I’m really hoping side lying in my own bed will help 😕.

V is not good at it so I can’t relax because he either has a crappy latch (causing pain) or I have to hold my boob in place (not comfortable). The Lansinoh gel soothie pads have been a godsend for me. I don’t know if you’ve ever used them but I highly recommend. I keep them in the fridge and you can audibly hear my relief when I put them on 😆

I go here now. I forgot how much post-birth contractions hurt. Ow. Supposedly they get worse with each child. Yes. I was in so much pain at the hospital and the nurses kept telling me it was totally normal. Said that each pregnancy just worsens all the muscles so it hurts more when they contract back. The nurses brought me heated blankets to lay on my belly, which felt really good.
