I had a dream that I went to visit a friend from elementary school. We walked into their garage and were trying to figure out how to get into the house. When I turn around starbuck’s dad is standing there with a baseball bat. I tell him who I am and he said he remembered me. Then I woke up.

My entire house is sick with colds. My H just got it today and he’s currently dying on the couch. Should be a fun weekend. I’ve got a baby shower tomorrow and I can’t wait for him to solo parent while sick.

M caught a very slight cold yesterday so she’s being a hot mess drama queen. We’re supposed to go to dinner and the rodeo tonight, but we’ll see. I have this tiny feeling she’s going to do a 180 as soon as H gets home.

I spent wayyyyy too much money on big girl room/nursery stuff last night. And H is coming in with the jokes. “I hope all that stuff fits nicely in our room”.
Psssht...maybe the big girl room is for ME

I’m barely functioning. As of 9 am I already had nursed V five times. Child sleeps all day long in his bouncer, carseat, Rock and Play, etc. with no issue. When it’s dark though he wants to cluster feed until he falls asleep (or there’s nothing left), and once asleep will NOT be put down.
He’s sleeping now (of course...it’s daytime) and I want to go lay down too but apparently BIL is coming over with his whole family around noon so I need to shower, try to straighten up this shit hole of a house, etc. before then. 😞

I’m so sorry dashook I was going to ask you for an update sometime this weekend on the pregnancy check in. This is the timeframe where I really started running out of steam IIRC. M didn’t (wouldn’t) sleep off of me until 8 weeks and 2 days old. I finally just found a way to barricade myself in place so that I could still catch some sleep. It’s hard. As for the house. No. You are freshly postpartum with three small kids. If your H isn’t available to help with the clean up then maybe your visiting family can get the hint and either help out a bit or (dream of dreams) offer a gift card for a cleaning service.

Hello. I'm so glad it's the weekend. Last night I got home late, made H go get me Thai food for dinner then fed C, gave him a bath and did bedtime. I managed to watch one episode of The Good Place before passing out until 11 when H woke me up to do the PIO shot and go to bed.
This morning we took C to soccer and we're planning to go to the Home Show this afternoon to hopefully get some contractors lined up to quote our backyard.

If your H isn’t available to help with the clean up then maybe your visiting family can get the hint and either help out a bit or (dream of dreams) offer a gift card for a cleaning service. It definitely gets rough around now! The freshness and adrenaline of the first days home have worn off and the fatigue is really setting in. It’s hard too because physically I feel great and totally healed up so have to be conscious about not trying to do too much even though I feel like I can. Right now nights basically consist of DH holding V for the first “shift” of the evening (like 10:30-2:30) so I can try to get some proper sleep, but that hasn’t really happened because V will wake up 1-2 times looking to eat in that stretch. I’m never going to not feed him if he’s clearly hungry but man is it exhausting to fall deeply asleep for like 45 minutes and then have to get up again. Then second stretch of the night (2:30/3 am til whenever the big ones wake up) V sleeps in bed with me, and wakes up at least one more time to eat. And obviously I wake up every time he shifts around or makes noise. We’re surviving on this schedule but I’m starting to dread H going back to work in a week and a half. He actually has been really useful with the big kids (if not as much as I’d like with the housework), especially with getting DS1 to school on weekday mornings, and I’m sort of terrified of having to do all that on my own.

Big hugs dashook surviving is all you really can do and it sounds like your doing great. We’re here for whatever you need. Hello, the house is messy, only one kid has pants on and both kids have consumed 3 fruit snack pouches and handfuls if veggie straws, but damnit, the hallway closet is clean and organized and so is my junk drawer, I’m calling it a win! Now to tackle what to eat for lunch.

dashook you’re bringing back post partum memories here. E wouldn’t sleep at night but hindsight tells me it was because she had reflux. She couldn’t lay flat and if she did, she was uncomfortable and the only comfort was nursing. So that’s what I did, all night long. And then hold her or have her lay on me the rest of the time. Is it possible V has reflux?

He almost never spits up, doesn’t arch his back seem to be uncomfortable at all. Is there anything else I should be looking for?

waitwhat, isn’t sad the maniacal pleasure we get out of our spouses doing something as normal as parent solo while sick! I feel ya! dashook, they’re already there but if yH isn’t willing to clean up, they can deal with the mess! I’m running around trying to catch up from the sick days. I had 3 piles of clothes and towels to fold. We went to gymnastics today and L was tame for him. After, we went straight to Ready! For Kindergarten which they have someone watch L while I learn ways to help him! We got a set of the Melissa & Doug blocks. They want us to start working on sorting by colors and size. Using terms “before” and “after,” “more” and “all gone” but not only with food! I always feel like they are too advanced but if these last few months prove anything, it’s not! Like L is saying the letter L everything he sees it and can show it to you and that was something I thought would be over his head. I just have to remind myself of this! I have to pick up dog poop but after this weeks bipolar weather I have a feeling this will be a fight.

Just home from work. Today was a not fun day. One of the kids has been off his meds and he's just being a total asshole (like he gives zero fucks about anything or anyone). Today we dealt with him spitting all over the office and then smoking cigarettes and marijuana in the house. I legit got a headache from it. DH and the boys are away for the night though so once I eat/tidy up I'm sitting my ass in bed and binge watching some Netflix.

I’m sure it was varies, but with M she never ever wanted to be put down and being flat would cause level 10 screaming. And you could hear the reflux. It was little burp like hiccups with a gurgle sound followed by whimpers or crying. She wanted to nurse 24/7 because the downward force of the milk kept all the acid down. Never ever spit up though, everything stayed contained to her esophagus. Possibly why her leg was bigger than my arm at one point....

Omg its all coming back to me as to why I can easily say out of pregnancy, labor/delivery, and the newborn days, that L&D was the easiest and most enjoyable for me. Please please PLEASE let this kid be just a smidge less angry so that I don’t have to say that tearing my vagina into a million pieces was the easiest part of all of this.
Thank God M turned out to be a more manageable toddler. For the most part.

Please please PLEASE let this kid be just a smidge less angry so that I don’t have to say that tearing my vagina into a million pieces was the easiest part of all of this. Thank God M turned out to be a more manageable toddler. For the most part. Obviously every kid and every family is different but I will say that D was eleventy billion times easier than DS1. I actually really enjoyed the newborn stage with her! So FX this new baby will give you a similar experience. And I have to say that V is a very pleasant and good baby. The nighttime sleeping is just a mess right now. But even when he’s keeping me awake MOTN, I am enjoying him because he is so quiet, soft, and sweet. All he wants is to be cuddled and I really am not mad about it. I feel tired but love the quiet time to just hold him. And it helps that he is so amazing at nursing and is literally growing chins before my eyes, so there is zero anxiety about feeding even though sometimes it’s nonstop. DS1 was a different story because he would just cry and cry and I had no idea how to soothe him. It was a huge trigger for my PPD/PPA with him and I hated every minute of it. He also had difficulty nursing in the beginning and there were weight loss concerns, so feeding him also was anxiety-provoking for me. So basically TL; DR as far as I’m concerned the first one is so so so hard and the ones that come after are easy peasy 👌🏻
