Hi hi. Just got home from work and am about to start the WFH stuff as soon as I decide what snack I want to eat. I’m going to try and make chicken lettuce wraps for dinner. Anyone have a suggestion for replacing water chestnuts? Carrots maybe? I do peanuts sometimes, or just skip the crunch factor entirely. I was thinking about this, but have a peanut sauce, so wasn’t sure it would be too much going on. Love radishes waitwhat but I don’t have any, I reeeeally don’t feel like running out to the store. tgrimes thanks! I’ve never made them before. Tried to think of what my MIL puts in her summer rolls, but I’m coming up blank. Wasn’t sure if it needed a crunch to it.

I don't know what about them I don't like. Maybe if I chopped them up finer I wouldn't mind them as much.

They're my favorite.

Re: strep, amoxicillin, and the 24 hour rule..there was a mass study done in 2017 that found that antibiotic usage of 12 hours before beginning of school had the same exact effectiveness results as using them for 24 hours. The patients that were showing positive rapid strep tests after 12 hours also showed a positive rapid test after 24. Improving symptoms and no fever are usually objectively subjective enough to determine that the kid is good to go.

It makes me curious if the overall recommendation will ever change. It’s so much easier to just draw a line with all antibiotics and illness at 24 hours. Easy to remember and enforce. But let’s be honest here, if you have strep (or whatever else) it’s already spread everywhere you’ve been.

I don’t even want to make these stupid lettuce wraps anymore. Pork roll in a bowl will probably be happening...again.

I like water chestnuts! That’s my contribution lol. Sorry about the strep hangry. O has his follow up tomorrow after 2 rounds of antibiotics for his ear infection. I’m praying he’s clear.
