Sorry for all the sick bubbas, seems like it’s been a particularly brutal winter for bugs over there?

E just woke up with a low fever. She was tugging on her ears a bit today so I see a doctor's appointment in the near furure. My kids always wait til the weekend to get sick.

I hope everything is okay sunshinedaisies. N got E's pink eye She is SO FREAKING MISERABLE and so sad looking. It breaks my heart. And of course I'd rather stay home with her, but I actually had to do work today so I came in and my H made me feel guilty AF for it instead of making me feel better. I know he didn't mean to but man, I feel awful.

Re: sleep training We are doing a modified, gentle-ish CIO. Sorry kid, but we all need sleep - her included. She nurses, I make sure she’s a little awake and then out her in the crib at night. I’ve been letting her CIO (and sending DH in for quick back pats if she gets too worked up) without picking her up or nursing her unless it’s after 2am. After 2am I’ll feed her and put her right back down while she’s still awake and leave, no snuggling, etc. She’s been sleeping KNOCK ON WOOD longer and longer stretches and went from 730pm to 4am last night. Her wake ups have moved closer and closer to morning each night and it has been so nice. leatherpants is precious little sleep super strict about schedules? I looked at a bunch of options but they were all so rigid and unrealistic with two working parents and two kids. LMK if it’s worth picking up the book. I wanted to join the Facebook group but they ask you book-specific questions slot make sure you’ve already purchased it 😒

She talks about consistency often and how important it is but it’s not like Baby Whisperer strict by any means. And she talks about night weaning just like you are doing actually. I know I rave about it but I find her very realistic. I think it’s worth it for sure. The book is great but also her blog posts are terrific too.

And fuck all the germs. Pink eye, colds, fevers, diarrhea - all of it can go to hell. Like why can’t they just be healthy? It’s such a bummer.
I hope everyone’s babies get better soon. Including mine.

I hope everything is okay @sunshinedaises. Sending you hugs!
And I hope all the sick babies feel better soon. These winter germs are the worst.
Thankfully the fluid in L’s ears seems to be draining so no tubes just yet. We follow up with ENT in a month. And it seems that the injection L had last month for his cleft worked! Last week’s swallow study looked pretty good and he’s cleared for thin liquids from a cup now. I’m so relieved.

Stomach bug went around L's daycare recently and both DH and I got it but not either of the kids. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
L was up for 3 hours last night wide awake. One of us finally thought to give her Motrin and sure enough she fell right asleep once it kicked in. Must be teething.
We had such a bad ice storm this weekend. 3/4 of my car doors don't open despite having run my car for over an hour yesterday. It was interesting getting everyone off to work/school this morning, that's for sure! Our front walk and driveway are a sheet of ice. I was so terrified I would slip while carrying L but I wore these slip on microspikes and they did their job. No slips.

I ended up taking E to the hospital Saturday night. She just has a virus but had spiked a 104° fever and was inconsolable even after being medicated. She hasn't had a fever since but she seems like she might have a sore throat and isn't eating much. And then just now when she was screaming in my face, I noticed a little tooth bud where molars would be. Poor kid.

I hope all the sick kiddos feel better quickly. It's so sad when they're sick My work is being annoying about me taking the rest of my FMLA. I finally decided what I want to do, but I have to clear it with my boss and she is not going to be happy, and she's on the phone with someone and I just want her to get off so I can get this over with!!

calendula I picked up this spray at Aldi (I think?) that helps melt ice quickly - if you’re interested I’ll try and find the name. It works super well. DNW to be scraping ice while the girls whine/cry in the car. It’s not a great way to start my morning.

Note to self... Don't be bitchy to HR if you're going to still need their help.
I just need them to confirm my plan for leave is okay and now they're ghosting me. 🙄

Another week...L has another fever, another cold, probably another ear infection. I think daycare calls me at least once a week to pick up L due to a fever. We have a follow up pedi appointment scheduled for early February but it looks like I might be taking him in today. I wish we could catch a break from illnesses.

Today can end now.
One year ago today my best friend almost died from eclampsia, and today is her baby’s birthday. I’m already struggling with that.
My husband got hit by a deer on his way to work this morning. Nice dent in the drivers side door and the mirror is torn clean off. Thankfully MH is ok.
Baby Mermaid just pulled up on a laundry basket and fell so hard on her face I’m afraid she might have broken her nose or something.
I’m done. Please cancel today.

Today: cancelled. I grant the Mermaid family a do-over. ...did it work ArielMermaid? I’m glad your husband didn’t get hurt, and I hope baby mermaid is okay. What a rough day. Big hugs to you ❤️

Mothers should be gifted with the same amount of energy as their kids until the kids reach their teens.

Mothers should be gifted with the same amount of energy as their kids until the kids reach their teens. Mine has literally ran laps around the middle wall in the house today. I considered taking them to a playplace but we are just getting over the plague we caught from the last one we went to. Insane energy.

That’s what G was doing today too. “Mommy catch me” ...uhhh nope. I’ll sit here and drink my coffee thanks. And that was after the morning at preschool.

Aw ArielMermaid. That’s a terrible day. I hope Baby is ok and I’m glad your husband is ok. I often think of your friend and hope she is doing the best she can ❤️ Thanks guys. Yesterday was a lot. My friend is really resilient and amazing. She’s doing so well. Me and her and our other BFF got together on sunday to celebrate Baby’s birthday, just the three of us. It’s such a mind fuck of a day. My friend almost died but her beautiful girl was born. It doesn’t seem like it could have possibly been a year already. Next month baby will have been gone a year. I’m dreading the date.

So thanks everyone for the support last week. I’ve come back and tried to post several times but just couldn’t bring myself to write an update. But you were all nice enough to give me support so here it goes.
So long story short, I’m pregnant. But things are not looking great. I have a long history when it comes to getting and staying pregnant (I did IVF with both kids) so I’m not surprised by this but I’m super bummed. We are ready to TFAT (which will be our last kid) but before we did a third IVF cycle and put my body through that again, we thought we’d try for a few months on our own because I had some left over medicine from my last cycle (prednisone - which is the one medicine I need to stay pregnant due to immune issues) and why not. Well lo and behold it worked and for the first time in my life, I’m pregnant without IVF. I’ve now had three betas and while the first two were okay (doubled correctly but a but lower number than I wanted), the third had a doubling time of over 65 hours. And it’s super low for how far along I am. I’ve been through this enough that I know how this is going to end and it sucks so much. So I’m not in the best mind frame right now.

@sunshineanddaisies I am sorry it’s not going as you’d hoped. IF is such a mind eff. I’ll pray it turns around and that you have some peace with the results.

I just had to throw out all the BM I pumped and so carefully tracked and traveled with (80+ FUCKING OUNCES) bc DH forgot to use it. He just forgot.
...I would like to temporarily divorce him. Or murder him. Something.
