What fandoms does your kid enjoy? How do you share your love of your fandoms with your kids? If your kids don't fandom what are they obsessed with?

DD (2) likes Star Wars too probably because I have so much stuff in the house. She loves Darth Vader and was him for Halloween. She'll go around make Darth Vader breathing noises. I put a big poster, that I found from college era, above her bed that has all the dark side characters from episode 3 so she goes to sleep under the sneering scowl of Darth Sidius. She has the Jedi equivalent over her changing table. She can recognize a lot of the characters. She's told me she wants to join the dark side numerous times. 😬😁
Her bedroom is dragon themed and I made her a dragon and wizards quilt before she was born.
We read the Star Wars golden books and the Obi-123 and ABC-3PO series (this is an amazing series that has a lot of Easter eggs and references fans will like. She just came out with one about feelings called Search Your Feelings.) I let her watch the movies and shows and we talk about what's happening. She talks a lot about Darth Vader is silly because he went to the dark side.
She recognizes superhero logos and will point them out. She knew who Spiderman was when she was 18 months, I think from school. I'll probably let her watch the new Spiderman movie when it's out of theaters. We watch Lego Batman.
If she was to pick a fandom in toddler/kid world it would be dinosaurs. She's obsessed and makes up very crative storylines with them. Maybe she'll be a fanfic writer one day. 😊

The kid isn’t out yet, but his nursery will be a mixed sci -fi theme. I’ve found cool posters on Etsy that are designed to look like vintage travel posters, but with sayings like “Travel by Tardis” or “Visit Vulcan”. I’ve been working on a quilt that has some Doctor Who fabric mixed with generic rockets and planets. And for a touch of real science, H is 3D printing the mobile to be Gliese-581, a real system that has planets in the habitable zone.

C (3) just discovered avengers and has been watching the movies non stop. She especially like the hulk and Spider-Man. She also like hp. But so far she only likes and understand the first two movies. I read the first book to her though.

Congrats bonzo! I'm so happy for you! DD1 is our more girly girl. She loves My Little pony, princesses, and Disney, especially Frozen and Tangled. She has some Star Wars books (including the AbC and 123 ones sheilathetank) that she likes to read on occasion. Her nursery was fairy tale and dragon themed so she also loves dragons and has a lot of dragon books that we read. She is also wanting to play Pathfinder with us and will sit at the table rolling her dice, asking if she's old enough yet. We're thinking of getting Amazing Tales to let her have her own little RPG world to try out. DD2 is obsessed with Wonder Woman. She knows who all the justice league members are and loves to play superheroes. She came into that all on her own. We nurture it. She has books, clothes, toys, etc. She asked Santa for a big wonder woman for Christmas. Toddler wise, she loves Pete the Cat and Puppy Dog Pals so she has quite a bit of stuff for that too. Her room is space themed with some paintings I did of different sci fi fandoms. She also enjoys her dice rolling Anyways, raising too geeks i training. They really never had a chance with H and I as their parents.

Here's the paintings. DD1 has some big ones of castles, princesses and dragons that my aunt did, but they don't belong to anything specific

My 3.5 year old loves Star Wars and superheroes although he hasn’t seen any movies/shows. It’s all been through books, coloring books, toys/dress up, etc. Although they have always watched Star Wars Acapella on YouTube when I need to cut their nails. It’s the only thing that totally enthralls both of them, even as babies 😂
He’s been “reading” Calvin & Hobbes, Far Side, and Spiderman comic books we got out of mh’s childhood bedroom. It’s adorable. Both kids like to watch and play with a disconnected controller when mh plays video games. So I’m sure one of them will be a little gamer nerd.
I’m excited to start introducing them to more once they’re older! They’re only 2 and 3.5.

Does Elmo count as a fandom? Moana? That's what my youngest is alllllllllllllll about right now.
My oldest likes Batman, but doesn't really watch anything. He just thinks he looks cool. Shoes, sheets, sweatshirts, and slippers are all in his possession, though, along with Legos and hot wheels. He says he wants to watch Star Wars, so we might start with that soon, but just the original trilogy for now.

How did you get them? They were Christmas presents from my mil a few years ago. Just prints, probably amazon or the like. Two are smaller in size and one is regular poster size. Mh’s family is Polish so we have a very amazing/unfortunate last name and are huge nerds so they’re pretty perfect for us. Sorry about the glare and potential sizing.

It seems to have worked. There are a lot more good educational shows for kids than there were when we were growing up.

I used to be annoyed by Elmo until I read a book about the history of Sesame Street. He is supposed to be like a three year old and why he became the focus of the show versus Big Bird (a five year old) and Grover (seven) was their demographic changed due to the growing number of kids who go to preschool. He's still kind of obnoxious, but in a way that makes sense. End side track

It says it is a complete history, but it stops somewhere before the HBO buy out. ETA: The beginning is kind of painfully slow since it is about the history of children's television before Sesame Street and the machinations it took to get the show on the air.

For some reason I knew he was 3 because I must have read it some where. But I had idea about the others. I grew up with Grover being the star of the show back in the late 80s early 90s

CAD for theater? Damn, school has changed a lot. Yep! For drafting sets, lighting plots, etc. There’s a program called Vectorworks that is pretty much designed for the entertainment industry, with plug ins for things like lighting instruments, soft goods, sound equipment. I teach both that and AutoCAD since a lot of carpenters still prefer AutoCAD. I studied architecture before doing theater, so I’m definitely a drafting nerd!

I understand having a younger character is aimed at younger audiences. It's like Puppy Dog Pals, the puppies are modeled after 4 year olds. They annoy me too. But DD2 is obsessed so we watch it

ETA: The beginning is kind of painfully slow since it is about the history of children's television before Sesame Street and the machinations it took to get the show on the air. MHs cousin did a paper in her teaching course about Sesame Street then and now. It talked about how when it started the segments were like 10 minutes long, the music was soft and whimsical and it wasn’t so bright. Now the segments are only 2 or 3 minutes long, the music is loud and exciting and the colors are bright and vibrant. It discussed whether or not Sesame Street was adapting to current children’s attention spans and thought patterns or if it was a contributing factor in how modern kids think and such. Super interesting. #SemiRelevant

G loves Star Wars and Darth Vader. Her sheets are Star Wars and have Leia and Rey on them. The imperial march is one of her favorite songs. 🤷🏻♀️
She likes to watch MH play Spider-Man on ps4. She watches princess movies but they aren’t her favorite. Her current Disney movie loves are Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6. She is also a fan of toy story and Monsters inc.
We are working on Harry Potter love with her. 😉
