Well, this is kind of an embarrassing one. Since moving overseas, DH and I have gotten so used to speaking in broken English with the vast majority of people we interact with, that sometimes we don't conjugate our verbs or we speak in really abbreviated sentences to each other. It's like our English speaking skills are getting worse!
Since DH and I are the only Americans we each regularly interact with (in person), we've made a pledge to not dumb down our English language when speaking with each other. Never ever thought I'd have this problem.

This happened like weeks ago. DS has the occasional leak in his overnight diaper when he wakes up. Oddly, sometimes his bed doesn't get wet and it's usually a small spot. He had a small damp spot one morning and I totally forgot to change his bedding. Oops! Guess it dried and he napped on it. I legit forgot until bedtime. I sniffed around and actually couldn't smell the pee spot and decided to just leave it until the weekend 😳 Cos I was too lazy and tired

Taitai, I imagine there are more Aussie xpats where you are and few Americans? But you still have a good xpat comm though right? Are they mostly retirees? So so much has changed in just a decade. I told hubs I wouldn't mind retiring back home one day but he's not too sure of the sticky hot weather though.

duskymonkey, definitely have done that before, in my own bed since we bed-share with DS. I just put a blanket over the pee spot and keep on sleeping. My confession is that DH and I don't drink coffee or alcohol. No real conviction behind why, we just don't. Mostly because neither of us like the taste. We've been to happy hours with coworkers and friends and they frequently try to get us to taste their drinks in the hopes of finding something we will drink. If I can taste even the slightest bit of alcohol in the drink, it is gross to me.

arimaythea , I don't like beer. Stouts are ok but no beer which made it hard when I was working in Japan but my clients and coworkers startd ordering me cocktails and I started to like them. You can say my clients educated me on booze lol.

@duskmonkey I actually just saw an article about expat numbers in the paper. I think the number of Americans and Aussies are similar. Most common here are Japanese, Chinese, British, and Korean...but it's a huge city, so lots of different people from all over the world.
We mainly hang with Thais and Japanese, but we have some western expat friends too! The westerners we see more on the weekends though, so 95% of our daily interactions are with locals. My Thai is getting to be okay, and DH actually is speaking it pretty well. Of course DS is the best and is basically fluent/speaks with no accent. Kids and their sponge brains!

This one super is irrational and totally a "me" think but....
I get overly annoyed (in my head, never out loud) when we visit my inlaws like tonight and DD is up way past her bedtime. Will she be fine? Yes. She might get a little less sleep and be slightly more grumpy in the AM but two days from now, she'll be fine. I know that. I need to let it go.
It's just, we have this awesome schedule going and she thrives on it and I thrive on it and I like sticking to bedtimes and naptimes because my kid seems to be a 1,000 times better behaved when we do. I know family time trumps scheduled bedtime when it's once every couple weeks or so. I just struggle with the "letting it go" part...

Had you asked me a five minutes ago I would have told you JTT. I had to go look it up to double check - not because I don't believe you but because I needed to see who it was. I very obviously see it is not him now but five minutes ago I would have told you with confidence JTT.

He was also on Veronica Mars (I think he played Luke and was only in a couple episodes). That's all I can think of him being in off the top of my head...

I get very much like this when we have a baby until they are a year or so. I've really eased up on the last 18 months and think it's a natural course when you have more than 1 kid but I wonder if I'll revert with the new baby or be like F it, its # 3.

Add me to your schedule club. I'm very strict on schedules. It drives everyone else nuts. Now that DS is older, I am a bit more relaxed about his schedule though. maybe a FTM and age thing? Dunno. Like rebeccabunch , I might just not care but knowing me, I doubt it. 🙄

I am joining the schedule club too, and IDGAF if it pisses off anyone. DS does so well on a schedule...we stick to it like crazy, even during trips back to the USA to see family (after we have adjusted to the 12 hour time zone difference of course...which usually takes a week). This past Christmas we went home and DH's aunt was clearly ticked off that we weren't going to partake in the big family's Christmas Eve party (it doesn't start until 6:30pm and that is DS' bath/bed time). We had to fly back to Asia two days later, and there was no way in hell I was going to get DS cranky and off schedule for Christmas Day AND a 24 hour plus flight.
She was like, "holidays are for getting kids off schedule!" And I was like "....um....not my kid! You can come visit him during the day when he's awake."
Maybe I'm cold, but I just don't care. Other people don't have to deal with a cranky toddler/baby - that falls on DH and me, and I am not a fan of making my life more difficult than it has to be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

RE: schedule, I get so frustrated because basically every event with DH's side of the family is at 1PM. 1PM is prime nap time for DS, so we have to either try and get him to nap early or be late to the party. We are the only people in the family with a young child though, so I don't think they really take that into consideration when planning things.
