wedding thoughts on the area we’re staying in? Is it okay or should we continue looking? It is a good area but a few blocks north near Chinatown can be a little sketchy so I would avoid that area. At night walking from Back Bay Station to the area you are staying may be a bit desolate since it is over the Mass Pike. I would feel safe but if you aren't used to the city it may feel a little dark and quiet.
Now going down the other way opposite of Chinatown, the South End has super cute shops and restaurants and the location makes it walkable to a lot of things. And the Orange Line is at Back Bay Station and can take you just about anywhere without switching trains.

wedding thanks! I think I know what you mean, last time we were near Copley square, around the same area. I look for places in the areas you suggested before, but boy Boston is expensive!

What about moving into Rhode Island and exploring Newport?

Plus we want to be within a 3 hour radius from Bethel(NY) and Cooperstown.

Would you confer going to the city and checking out the museums? I think we’d like to visit the Peabody museum . We’re just wondering if we’re asking to much of the kids. For us two this would be peanuts.

I was actually thinking of the museum of natural history or even the Guggenheim in NYC. But I guess from Boston it’s not that easy of a trip.

Oh no, we’re not heading into New York, do not want with the kids. I loooooove natural history museums, hence the Peabody 😉. And I can’t wait to see the one in Washington!!!

Any of you girls have knowledge on bike rental in Washington? I’m looking for a cargo/bakfiets or bikes with seats but can’t find any! I know I’m spoiled with bikes over here, but this can’t be so difficult right?!

I see cargo bikes occasionally, but either a) Europeans living here or b) families without cars that do daycare dropoff with one. Capital bikeshare is all over the city and we are overrun with scooter rentals now on every corner. DC is pretty easy to get around with metro though and walking. Are you bringing a stroller?

No we’re not bringing a stroller. We love biking, the kids do too, so we figured it’s an easy outdoors kind of way to get around . The zoo for instance is a 30 minute walk, which is fine normally, but with two jet lagged kids a bike would be handy. I’m not surprised I can’t find a cargobike, but did expect to find bikes with seats .
