While Friday usually isn't exciting for me (since I work weekends) there's a very strong probability that DH will be home today so I'm quite excited. AAANNNDDDD since Christmas is less than 2 weeks away, HE WILL BE HERE FOR CHRISTMAS! Today is a good day. MIL/SIL are taking the boys for the weekend so DH and I will have some time alone. We originally had a small get-together planned for this evening but decided to cancel it when he didn't get home. Technically we could still do it but he won't get here until like 4pm, the house is a mess, I'm a mess, itd just be too stressful. So we are breaking our no-spend agreement and going out to dinner just the two of us. We still have a packed weekend (between my work and Christmas parties to attend). Also got my first Christmas card in thr mail this morning. The pictures are adorable vino.

Working remotely today. Stayed up until midnight working on work things so that I wasn’t stressing too much today. Then my kids were up at 5:30, just short of enough sleep for me. Pass the coffee.
Hopefully MIL is coming tonight for date night bc I have my family gift and work secret Santa’s I need to shop for and MH has a couple things he needs to get as well.
So far my kids are playing nicely, let see how long that lasts.

I generally don't tell him stuff in advance (like I try to be vague with timelines) but he was really sad missing DH this morning so I decided to tell him. He literally jumped up and down cheering.

Paging jubilantsquirrel. A lot of recipes I see online for cream cheese cookies says to make the batter and let it sit in the fridge for an hour. My recipe doesn’t say that... should I? What’s the advantage of letting it sit???

I’m off today. It was so nice not to rush getting the kids ready this morning. M’s Christmas program is at 11 and my in laws are taking the kids with them afterwards.
I will be wrapping the remaining gifts for the kids and maybe watching a movie. Not sure what we’ll do tonight. Maybe order pizza and binge the rest of Ozark.

Paging jubilantsquirrel . A lot of recipes I see online for cream cheese cookies says to make the batter and let it sit in the fridge for an hour. My recipe doesn’t say that... should I? What’s the advantage of letting it sit??? There's a whole science behind chilling cookie dough, but basically it's to reduce the amount of spread when baked and to develop the flavors more. Chilling the dough solidifies the fat, so when you bake it the fat takes longer to melt than it would if the dough was room temp when you put them in the oven. The longer it takes for the fat to melt, the less spread there is in the cookies. Chilling the dough also dries it out slightly (sounds like a bad thing, but it's not!) and lets the flour break down, which enhances the sugar flavor. When I make chocolate chip cookies, I can tell a different between chilled and non chilled dough. Chilling the dough definitely isn't necessary if you're strapped for time. If you want to chill it though you should be good with 30 minutes. That's probably way more information than you were looking for!

H and I are off today. I got up early and went to the RE. Our transfer is next Friday!! The timing of everything is crazy with the holidays but we take the pregnancy test right before NYE. It'll make that night interesting but at least I'll know.
The rest of the day will be finishing house projects. We have mirrors and bathroom hardware to finish plus C's curtain in his room. I think there was more but I'd be happy with getting those done today.

The chemistry involved in baking is always so cool in theory to me.

I have a full surgery schedule tomorrow starting at 6 am. Party starts at 4. Babysitter is a saint and was willing to move her hair appointment, but she has to come to the office because she has bloodwork in the AM and needs to leave by 11:15, so there will be some overlap where M will need to have a n eye kept on her. This also means I have to wake her up 2 hours earlier than normal...on a day in which I needed her to be rested and in a good mood for the party. Lolololol
There’s still so much to do and I have no idea where the time is going to come from. I’m so nauseous and now getting Braxton Hicks as I’m dry heaving so I’m guessing I’m dehydrated.
It’s fine. Everything’s fine. It’ll all be worth it and everyone will have fun. I hope.

Ohhh but I did get to UPS before work today and shipped my secret Santa present!! They asked what was in the box and I panicked and said candles. There are no candles, but there are boos and I was worried that he knew. No...they just needed to label the box as something in their system.

goldenlove !!Yay!! Also when tagging you it auto correcting to “golden oven” so...there’s that 😬 sophiegrace That’s not something I could handle on a normal work day (2 hrs early) mixed with the full day schedule AND having to get ready for party. Is it catered? God I hope. Please.

I’m debating gettin gifts for all my sisters and brothers sort of off to the side, not in front of each other bc we were supposed to hit do white elephant or grab bag bc of certain members finances. So I’m thinking about what my sisters and brothers would like.
Liquor, for sure.
And it reminded me, I don’t think I ever told you guys what I witnessed on Thanksgiving. My sister, D, cut her wine with water.
Huh?
Like, maybe you’re drinking the wrong wine if you need to water it down. I was so saddened. She tried to convince me to try it, luckily I was full from real wine.
Then you have my brothers wife who puts vodka in her wine.
She’s a good time.
It’s a real mixed bag over here.
Can’t forget my sister P who wasn’t a big drinker as she was a teen parent growing up. So now that she does, it’s like watching someone learn to ride a bike. Slow down ! You’re going to fast! You’re gonna hit a tree! Oh look she’s sleeping. And now she’s back up and at it.

So happy that your H will be home soon, and for Christmas!!! Enjoy every moment with him this weekend, you both deserve this! Yay!!! So exciting goldenlove! I got a package from my elfster today too!! I’ll post in the private board what I got. Let’s just say I didn’t waste time digging and I’m eating it already! Zero control 🤷🏻♀️ It’s been a busy day so far. I had to do an interview this morning for a new role, it’s actually my role but in a different region. I’m so excited for some work to finally come off my plate! Then while I was logged in I checked my email and got one from one of our senior VPs about budget stuff. It was supposed go to Tessa same last name spelling as mine, and our emails are only 1 letter off, so I get a ton of her mail. I’ve gotten a few pretty confidential ones and this was so something clearly not for my eyes, basically big budget cuts in their Business Unit. She’s on track to be our CEO in 10-15 years, so I’m a little curious as to what confidential stuff I’ll get then! The kids and I ran to the mall and a few other stores for last minute gifts and I’m pretty close to being finished! Now we’re home and relaxing with Paw Patrol.

kleigh Ummmm, hell no to watered down wine and a big fuck no to vodka’d up wine. Yuck! At our client party Wednesday someone told me the wine was really good. I tried the Chardonnay and it was no bueno. They said they needed it sweeter and they mixed theirs with sprite. They forced me to try it. Cue me gagging.

Sorry about that!
