I decided not to pump today, and to wear an underwire for the first time in I can't remember.
Let's see how long it takes me to regret both of these decisions.

So we had DS2's one year appointment. He's still short and fat lol. One thing that came up is that he is a little anemic. They want me to push iron rich foods and they will recheck at his 15 month appointment. Currently he mostly eats meat, veggies and cereal because it's the easiest for me to give without worrying about dairy, so I am shocked he is anemic. I'll take any suggestions on how to push more dairy free, iron rich foods on him!

I’m seriously going to Macy’s after Christmas and getting refitted. I look forward to regular bras again.
I still plan on nursing til spring, but I always come home and put on sweats right away anyway so I can take off under wires then.

My chest was a lot bigger after getting pregnant even finishing breastfeeding. I didn't fit in any of my old bras. I lost a lot of my weight watchers weight in my chest but I find the underwire bras to still be uncomfortable after wearing nursing tanks for so long.

Or quinoa?

So yesterday my mom and sister and I decided that we're going to go to Disneyland the first week of January. My H said he was in. BIL doesn't want to go, but my sister is down to go without him. I find a couple of really cute condo rentals on VRBO and plan to book when I get home from work. I get in my car after work at 4:00 and the radio says they are giving away three 4-packs of 2-day/1-park Disneyland tickets starting at 5:00, you just have to be caller 99. I text my mom and sister and tell them about the giveaway. I get home, my sister and I are texting about trying to listen to the radio at home. She doesn't have a radio and whatever online feed isn't live. My H gets his garage radio set up for us. We all start calling in, not knowing if they said to call yet or not. After a few tries it starts ringing for me. The radio person answers and I'm holy-sh**ting inside thinking I've won. Nope, we get cut off. I text my sister about it. We all keep calling. Kids are running around crazy. My sister says her son keeps trying to steal her phone. Gianna is having a cow so I set her up in my room to watch frozen fever. I come back into the living room and keep calling. My mom gets through. She hands me the phone because she's nervous. It's ringing, we're getting excited. Caller 95. Womp Womp. So close! I text my sister to tell her. We figure there's no way we'll get through again that quickly so we stop calling and wait to hear the winner announced. I get a text from my sister "I won!!!" We're all super excited! She comes on the radio. Radio guy asks her who she's going to take to Disneyland and she says, "My mom, my sister, and my brother-in-law!" It was so sweet and fun hearing her on the radio! I mean, who's first instinct is to say they are taking their mom, sister, and BIL to Disneyland and not their own kid? LOL love her! And yay...this saves us all $800! It totally made our night!

More normal daily update...
One of my brothers surprise visited us last night and joined us for dinner. My two brothers who don't live in our town have been making more of an effort to come over since my mom's diagnosis and it's just so nice to see them more often! Gianna really knows who they are now and doesn't need time to warm up to them anymore (although she did keep calling him Uncle Nick, my other brother's name LOL). We had a nice dinner. I tried out a new recipe for Korean beef that I found by searching "ground beef recipes" on pinterest once my brother walked in the door and it actually turned out great despite not even having all of the right ingredients. He played with all of the girls and even made a gingerbread house with Gianna and it was just a great night.
Over the weekend I had tried "working with" Siena to get her to take more than a few steps and she was definitely getting more courageous. Yesterday I came home and she was walking all over the house! Paris joined me in clapping and cheering her on. Cutest. Thing. EVER. Sometimes having twins is just so damn hard but then sometimes they do the sweetest thing and it just makes it all worth it.

jules1614 How did they know he was anemic? Did they have to draw blood from him? Yes. My pedi does a finger poke at 12months as standard. I asked if I should do a multi-vitamin but they said not until after his recheck if it's still low.

Much more traumatizing and a lot more then he had at 6 months.

jules1614 Interesting, I don't remember Gianna ever having to do a finger poke! I may have momnesia though. Guess I'll see in a couple of weeks if Siena and Paris have to do it.

Our pediatrician suggest doing a multivitamin with iron. All fine and well except that they taste horrible and I can't get him to take it. He was fine when it was mixed with a couple of ounces of apple juice but a few days of that and he started refusing. I tried white grape juice...nope. I think I will have to try chocolate almond milk maybe. He eats everything so I don't know how he isn't getting enough in his food. I am trying to adjust to get a few more iron rich items. We'll also recheck at 15 months.

I really need to get new bras as well. I have been wearing a nursing bra (with underwire, at least) since 2015, no joke. I tried some on without a fitting at Target last weekend and it was a total disaster. I am hoping to leave work a little early on Friday and head to Soma so someone who knows something can help me out. We are mostly just nursing morning and night and will continue that but I don't need a nursing bra during the day anymore and would love a bra that actually lifts and supports properly. You guys...N is tolerating dairy. This is so very amazing and strange. He is completely fine with foods that include dairy and even had a whole piece of cheese on Sunday. I haven't done major, full dairy things like milk or yogurt with him yet. We are easing in slowly with cooked/baked dairy and a little cheese here and there. I even had actual flavored creamer in my coffee this morning. I can't even begin to tell you how exciting this is. It has been since February that we have had no dairy at all. All of that being said, I guess if I am going to be adding dairy back in I better start thinking about portion control and exercise. Ugh, not ideal. But I guess a fair trade off.

roloma I'm so glad to see he's tolerating dairy!! That's fantastic! His level was 9 so pretty low but he eats pretty iron rich already! But I think maybe he needs larger portions/more frequently offered. Hopefully we turn it around, do not want to deal with trying to get him to take supplements lol!

They have cute designs... that are available in large sizes? Does not compute. Thanks!

They checked for anemia for L but not for DS1 when he turned one. The pedi told us that it was a new thing that they were recommending for everyone now when it used to be for certain people. His was more than just a finger prick though so he got shots and then I had to hold him down while they took blood from his arm. Not fun.

I am a 36F and Shock Absorber work the best for me. The band definitely fits small, but I can wear my usual size.

For the record, I don't necessarily regret the underwire, but I can't wait to get home and take it off.

Also, hi, I realized I never took a pic of our kegerator setup last night. Things were crazy because H wasn't home. He also won't be home before bedtime tonight. I will try later this week!

Awesome belle0720, what good timing! Yay for dairy roloma! Ugh, I hate buying new bras, needed, but feels like such a waste of money They don't check for anemia here. But I did hear from a nutritionist that from 6-12 months is when humans have the highest iron needs! It's weird, so if they recheck at 15 months I bet it'll be normal. I think the best/easiest way to get a lot of iron is using baby cereal. Except my kid doesn't like it. I toss a sprinkle in with her scrambled eggs or oatmeal though so at least she's getting a bit.

Hey ladies. C burnt his hands pretty badly today at MIL/FIL’s house. He grabbed onto a space heater that my ILs didn’t realize got so hot, and he didn’t let go because he was shocked. He just stood there and screamed until my MIL picked him up. He has second degree burns on both palms, right worse than left. His pedi had us take him to the ER. They basically just bandaged his hands up and told us to give Tylenol/Ibuprofen around the clock. I did push for a stronger narcotic in case those don’t do the trick. We have to take him to see a hand surgeon tomorrow.
Ugh he’s okay but it just sucks. So PSA everyone, double check your house and your caregiver’s houses for safety hazards. My MIL said she didn’t realize the space heater got so hot like that and she obviously feels terrible. It was awful holding him while he just cried and cried. He fell asleep after some medication and now he’s actually acting like his normal self. So I guess we’ll see how he does...
