Back to the beginning of the work week. What's happening today?

E slept from 6:30-3:30 and then 4:00-5:30. I feel like a new woman this morning! However, N was up at 3:45 and I was able to convince him to lay down in bed with me until 5. He never really went back to bed though so tonight should be interesting. Either he's going to fall asleep at daycare or he's going to be a bear and I'll need to get him into bed as soon as possible. Always on Mondays when I'm doing bedtime solo.

I have a weaning question for you all - I've been slowly decreasing my PPD and now that I'm at one, decreasing the time. My period is due in a few days so my supply is naturally lower, so now seems like the best time to fully cut this cord. How do you know when you're done? Like, I just pumped for about 20 minutes and got less than an ounce. When do I say I had my last session? Most of the stuff I've been reading kinda stop at "slowly reduce # of sessions", but don't tell you when is a good time to actually stop. I don't want to spend another week reducing 1-2 minutes a day to get next to nothing (obviously I will if I have to). Should I just drop 5min per day at this rate? TIA

cakewench I forget, are you exclusively pumping? I think if I were you I’d try just not pumping and if you get engorged and uncomfortable just pump enough for relief.

Yes, exclusively pumping... funny how like two months ago I was like "You'll pry my pump from my cold, dead hands!" and now I just want it over with

Happy Monday. I’m feeling relaxed at work after a weekend at home with two kids and no plans. I had to take them out to the library yesterday afternoon just to get them a change of scenery. Before bed last night they were running laps back and forth across the living room, for no reason. Boys 🤷♀️

cakewench, When I weaned from the pump I basically just stopped. I personally was never engorged to the point of pain at this stage. Even when I stopped nursing E, I literally just stopped and I didn't have any issues. If you are only getting less than an ounce I would think you should be able to just stop without too many problems. But I second doxiemama, if you have some pain pump for relief.

Yes, exclusively pumping... funny how like two months ago I was like "You'll pry my pump from my cold, dead hands!" and now I just want it over with I took a decongestant and just stopped. I had oversupply though and did need to pump 2-3 times for relief over the course of a couple days. But I had dried up within 3 days. If you are only getting less than an ounce, you are probably fine to stop. Your body should adjust pretty quickly.

I may just not pump tomorrow, and see what happens. If I feel like I need to, I'll take one after I pump for relief. Thanks, guys! Can't believe this is it. Soooo close to 12 months, but my boobs are DONE.

L kept waking up, crying for a minute or two and then go back to sleep. I even got up around 3 to get him back down but he had stopped by the time I got to his room. I didn't sleep very well as a result though. H has a big certification test today so he didn't sleep well either. I hope he does well. Eek.

Soooo tired. DD2 is stuffy and miserable. I work nights tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday so she picked a terrible night to not sleep well.

I took today off to recover from the weekend and DS2 has his 1 year appointment. My H is off too so it's been a nice morning. We're getting new tires on my car and going out for lunch. I wish I had long weekends every week!!

Running out to Lowe's to pick up my online order of more Christmas lights and decorations after ds2's nap. I'm excited! I love Christmas lights. There's a house up the street from us that went all out this year. It looks like a gingerbread house. 😍 I finally convinced dh to get an inflatable for our front yard (Snoopy and Woodstock celebrating on his dog house). It's massive. So that should be interesting lmao. Ds1 is going to love it though. He's also very into Christmas lights this year.
I organized all the gifts that I've gotten for the kids/family. And I think we are done. I'm going to set up ds1's gifts on Christmas Eve in his play kitchen and then he will have other stuff to actually unwrap. I'm saving a bunch of stuff (books, writing stuff) for his birthday (early January). I went overboard, as usual. Giving gifts is my love language. 🤷
I'm actually really excited to give my brother and his gf their gifts. I think I did good lol. I got a "baking for two" cook book, two special size pans that they will need, an orchard basket (they go peach/apple picking a lot), cheaters edition of Monopoly, a Kindle, and my brother wanted a gift card for guitar stuff.

cakewench With Gianna I thought I'd wean gradually from the pump, but quickly realized I didn't need to. I did still nurse her a couple of times a day, but I pretty much just stopped pumping with no problems. I definitely have a bigger supply this time with Paris and Siena so I think I'm going to be more gradual about switching out nursing for sippy cups (pumped stash, then cow's milk once that runs out). But I am SOOOO done with the pump. I've been skipping pumps sometimes recently anyways so I feel like that should make it easier.

I'm hoping I have time tonight to organize all of the gifts I've bought, figure out what I still need to buy, and start wrapping! Although I don't think I'll actually be able to put any presents under the tree yet because Paris and Siena are bound to terrorize them LOL.

Morning Ladies! We had a really nice, productive weekend. Mostly finished decorating, had my sister take Christmas Card photos of us, and I photographed a birthday party and two mini sessions. Oh and I got some good Christmas shopping done and decided on presents for the girls! From us: Play Kitchen for Gianna and Car Seats for Paris and Siena. From Santa: Doll Bunk Beds for Gianna, Wooden Pram and Rody-like toy for Paris and Siena. From the girls to the girls: Doll Salon Chair for Gianna from Paris and Siena, Dolls for Paris and Siena from Gianna(her choice!). So glad I have that all figured out now! I only have 8 more days at work, so it made coming in today more bearable

Important (not really important) question: Do I get Gianna the Our Generation Doll Bunk Bed? Or a 3-bunk bed to make it easier(maybe?) for all 3 of my girls to play with?

belle0720 I like the two doll bunk bed better. But the three one may make more sense down the line 🤷

grumpycat My exact thoughts, just got figure out whether cuter trumps practicality. Also, the pictures of the three beds look creepy to me. The first dolls look like they're having a fun sleep over and the others look like they might be in prison LOL

grumpycat, we recently started having wine on tap from our kegerator in the house and it is... dangerous. How much have I had? Who knows? Who cares?

cakewench, just like PPs said, with weaning I was gradually getting less of an output and one day I just decided to stop. And that was that.

"Happy" Monday, all. One day weekends make it SO hard to come back to work on Monday. Ugh. But this week should be relatively calm. I actually have a 3 day weekend next weekend because I am working the following Saturday. Lots of Saturdays for me lately. But glad for a 3 day weekend. I really need the day off to myself on Monday so I am hoping DCP doesn't call out sick again.

Here's the more important question - how do I stop eating like I'm still breastfeeding??? (Obviously will be dieting, just can't decide if it's worth starting now just to derail for N's bday/Christmas, or wait until after.)

Last week of pumping! ETA: after catching up cakewench this post is really timely! I’ve been down to two pumps a work day for awhile, and this week I’m just going to do once. I just got only 2.5 oz, so really I’m sure I could just stop and be fine. It’s more of a goal to get to his first bday on Thursday for me.
