We don’t have any plugs outside. M is sad we don’t have lights on the house. I always felt the same way as a kid so I told MH that we need to digitize our a solution for next year.

So, I happened across the screenshot my H sent me of the wreath he picked out the other day per my FFFC. Totally goes in, right?

We just need to get someone to do it.

dapostrophe Here you go. It is a long story, but the lights on the bottom, which I thought were the "right" ones (we replaced some several years ago, but kept both sets), are our original incandescents. The ones on the top are LEDs; those 2 strands are new, because I'm a dumbass and bought 8 new sets of LEDs before a Timehop picture from last year made me realize that the ones on the bottom this year are incandescents and therefore not the "right" lights and that I actually have 8 sets of the right LEDs and just got them mixed up. So I returned 6 of the new LED sets to Target, now I have 10 of them, and hopefully we can never speak of this again.

We run the cord through a front window. I’m too scared someone will break in. Oh, we only have them on for a few hours in the evening when we're home. We use the window that is right by our front door. The lights get unplugged and the window gets closed at bedtime.

If I had to plug something in every night, it would never happen. We have remotes for the outdoor stuff, so I can stand inside and click the button to inflate/turn on or deflate/turn off. All the inside lights are on the same power strip, so I flick. H has a small leg lamp in the front window above the door that has to be plugged in and I usually forget to plug it in, even through I walk by the door numerous times letting the dog out.

We leave our trees on all day bc we’re pretty early to bed people and that way we get to enjoy them more. With the exception of the weekends, just as I am unplugging things in the evening, our neighbors are just turning theirs on. Next year when we do outside lights, I will make sure to put everything on a timer or a smart outlet.

Oh, I love it, @snoop! It looks soooo festive. I never think to do indoor lights except in garland. New thoughts for next year! Also I love your counter!

I have automatic timers on all of my things. The ones outside have light sensors so they turn on when it starts to get dark and then shut off after 6 hours. The one for my tree I got last year on amazon and it connects to my phone and Alexa and is on a schedule to turn on at 4:20 every afternoon.

We have to run an extension cord into the garage on this house, would that be an option? Our house is a 60s ranch so I feel you on no outdoor outlets. We don't do much outside, just a wreath and lit garland on the front porch railing. We used to wrap our boxwoods with white lights in FL--I miss that. Our bushes here just don't work well for it.

sing2phins It's beautiful and I love it! But then again, I tend to think "imperfect" things have more character. Remind me I said that when Bea's stocking comes in and does not exactly match the others 😬 snoopmommymom That is amazing! Did you do all that while H was away? If, so I'm impressed!

Yes. 12 additional light strands aside from the tree. It was really easy though. I just put a few nails at the top of the window and door trim (where no one will ever see) then draped them.

I think I mentioned this here, but I ordered Arlo's stocking and accidentally picked a different font than the other two. It's driving me nuts!

dapostrophe that would bug me so much! I love your nativity set, so pretty. It drives the designer in me crazy, but the mom in me has to laugh. There are so many visual cues around the house that Bea was a surprise baby... like things I did for just the first four that you can't really add on to. This is a perfect example of that 😉 And thank you, I think my SIL gets them from Germany. She sends a new peice every year.
