HEYYYY!
Waiting on one person to give the thumbs up and then I can click submit on this beast - but my work is otherwise done on this one. The grant I've been working on is to create an online learning collaborative/community of practice for violence prevention professionals, focusing on sexual and intimate partner violence. It's a topic we have done a lot of work on, but never in this capacity. We had some really unique and innovative ideas so hopefully they will go for it. Soooooooo rewarding to help come up with the solutions and write this monster of a proposal. We won't know if we won until Feb 2019.

How exciting starbuck! FX you win!! My kids are wild animals. But it’s raining/snowing so we are stuck inside. We’ve colored, made a giant train track throughout the living room, snuggled and watched Netflix (lasted 5 min), and made a fort with the kitchen chairs and blankets. They are so bored. I still feel confined to the house since we are still working on PTing or else I would have ventured to target or something. I really enjoy school days because I know B is having fun and there’s sooooo much I can do with just one kid so tuesdays and Thursday’s seem to last foreverrrrrr.

I'm at work. Leaving early today for dress rehearsal for our inner city Nutcracker. It's at an outdoor theater and it's currently 39 outside. Awesome.

I've been so busy at work and home.. my brain is going in 1000 directions right now. It's insane all the stuff we have to do for a new build home. I need to talk to H about hosting Thanksgiving dinner with my family. We're doing dinner at ILs on actual Thanksgiving but we can probably do Friday with my family. We just have so much to do to get ready and hardly any time. How is Thanksgiving already next week?!

I just signed C up for soccer. It's a 12 week session and we haven't even tried it yet. I kept meaning to do a free trial first but I'm sure the first time will be a disaster no matter what and I want him to get used to doing things in a group setting like this anyway. Hopefully he likes it. I mean, what's not to like about running around chasing a ball?

tgrimes - that is super cold to be performing outdoors. Goodness. goldenlove - I bet C will enjoy it, even if it is a "disaster". Fingers crossed for you starbuck, that sounds really exciting. Being stuck indoors is the pits waitwhat hope the potty training goes well today at least.

Yo.
This last week has been a whirlwind. J’s Birthday then B’s party was Saturday and all the kids were really well behaved and they were all very good about the two little ones, Julia and her cousin, the Sportball coach was amazing with them. He has such a great group of friends, my heart was so full.
Then Remembrance Day was Sunday so MH had to attend a ceremony, then he’s always a bit different the rest of the day so my SIL and I kept the kids occupied, we played with all the new toys he got.
My SIL left yesterday and I sent the kids off to daycare this morning and cleaned every last inch of this house; scrubbed walls, kitchen cabinets, all 3 bathrooms and tubs, vacuumed, mopped twice, dusted everything and did every single last bit of laundry. Ran a few errands of returning a few things and got J and our neighbours kid Christmas gifts.
I’ve got a about an hour before I have to get the kids so i’ve put on a Christmas movie and having a hot chocolate with the fire on. THE BEST.

Congrats on submitting the grant starbuck! I had a vacation day today because it’s my mom’s birthday and when I asked what she wanted she said, “can you come play bingo with me?” So we played bingo at the casino and went to a seafood restaurant for lunch! Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday! I ordered cupcakes for L’s party next weekend and am just waiting to pick up the kids in a little while.

We didn’t win anything, but it was really fun and I don’t think I’ve been since I was 18! I was by far the youngest person there! I guess if I’m ever feeling old, I can go there 🤷🏻♀️

I'm in the basement and I can hear MIL telling MH she expects that after we buy the house, they will be able to come and stay in the house if they want to come in town, and not just when they're in town to see us and the kids. So we can't rent the basement room out to a friend of ours (which we weren't even talking about).
And also that this house is big enough for us to keep storing SILs stuff in the basement indefinitely.
I note that she waited until I was gone to start talking about this.

For once I actually feel bad saying anything about my ILs because I have a pretty good relationship with them (mostly MIL) since the kids were born. BUT starbuck that’s exactly like my FIL. Ok so at what point is a “favor” actually not a favor bc I’m repaying you for it in other ways. Like great they are selling you guys the house at a discounted price but like, if it means holding shit on you, its really no favor guys. When we redid the house FIL would “do” or “give” us something but it always came with a return ask or price. No thanks, I’ll just do it my way. He also thinks bc he “helped” with the house he gets to make decision about design, decor, and usage. I apparently am not allowed to let my kids in the office. Hahahhaaaaaaaaaa

goldenlove we started E in soccer a couple weeks ago and she is doing awesome! She likes to hold my hand for most the activities, but she participates in all of them. But I warn you, it is completely kid dependent. We had started O at 2 and it was a battle for him to participate at all. I just tried starting him back up at the same time I started E and nothing has changed!?! Last week he sat next to me on the bench the entire time. It is so annoying. I hope C is more like my E than O jubilantsquirrel and tjanca22 MH and I used to go play Bingo in our younger days too! It was a lot of fun! Edit: fixed tags

I read through your description of yesterday but skipped the part about dropping the kids at daycare. I was like, WTF, is vino a magician? How the hell does she get anything done with 2 kids at home let alone a massive cleaning?! I felt much more justified as a person when I read again and saw the kids weren’t there.

vino You must have super powers. I can barely manage to get my laundry done in a day. That sounds like an awesome day. tjanca22 Happy Bday to your mommy!!! starbuck I’m always so fascinated by your proposal summaries. I’m curious... have you ever considered writing in other forms ? Screenplays, books, etc? I would love to do either and have started reading about screenplays in the past but then got busy with life. When I was in middle school I wanted to be one of 3 things: a writer/novelist, a tv journalist, or a runway model (House of Style on MTV was big, and so was Claudia Schiffer etc). My mom told me they would all be impossible bc every one wants to be one. So I went into accounting. Looking back, it was really an asshole thing to say... but, at 36 I can pay my bills no sweat so there’s that?

Back from my horrendous 9 hour meeting plus 4 hours of travel. I somehow managed to put my kids to bed, do sophiegrace ‘s 15-minute workout, and shove my face with toast bc easy. I’m ready for bed and round 2 tomorrow. What makes it so much more obnoxious is that it’s our busy season at work. So I still have normal work to do besides configuring a new agency management system and rewriting policies and procedures that haven’t been touched since 2001. Go Live with our new system is April 1, 2019... We are on PTO blackout 1/1/19-4/1/19... you better believe I’m taking myself on a nice relaxing trip next year. I guess I should bring my family.

kleigh I have two novels in progress. If you are guessing they're sci-fi --- you are correct. As I presumed. It wasn’t until having kids that I realized my mom might’ve been onto something. When AV asks me to tell her a story as she’s laying down in bed, I find that most of my stories go like this: There was a little girl who was so kind and smart and humble. She loved to play. One day she went to the park. There she saw some ducks. She reached into her pocket to pull out a cracker she had stored since lunch. She fed the duck. Then she went home and went to bed. The end.

Well I hope you enjoy accounting at least! lol The one I'm really into right now (although I've been negligent writing it lately) opens with aliens, moves into DNA-contamination creating a new species of human, defining citizenship based on DNA, and is largely told moving back and forth between two people in a gov't jail cell and flashbacks to how they got there. So...yeah. You're actually the first people I've given any detail to.
