Is he between 14 and 21months? Because if so I'm so sorry. Much clinging, such whine. 18. So... 3 more months? Promise? 😬 sure?... I may have blocked some of that out. Dinner prep was a dark time in the tank house then.

Did I tell y'all how my kid had an epic meltdown right as we were about to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner? And my H for some reason kept him in the next room while his family and I sat and ate awkwardly while listening to my kid scream? I ate my meal as fast as humanly possible so that I could bring him upstairs and close all the doors and then he was finally able to join the rest of the family in time to eat a few bites of his dinner and some pie. It was really something.

I think this is why I gave up on gates and had DD learned the hard way. She just pushed them out of the way. The only one we have and still use is the one at the top of the stairs. Fucking toddlers. When I leave my kid unattended he is too upset at having been left alone for a minute to think about getting into trouble, so at least I have that going for me. Ah, yes. That's how I can get away with the holier-than-thou "just keep an eye on him" baby-proofing. The Christmas tree question came up on my FB feed today, and the amount of old aunts who pulled the "just tell him no" card... Lort.

DS walked today! I picked him up from school and he walked to me. Then I couldn’t get him to take a single step at home. Stinker.

They're like weeble wobbles. DD used to hold her arms out straight in front of her and move her wrists for balance. It was the cutest and silliest thing ever.

DS2 translates "no" to "yes! Do that again immediately and repeatedly!" Toddlers DGAF.

gingy, it took mine a full two weeks before he started actually walking around. During those two weeks we would ask him if he could show us how he walks and he would often just flat out say no.

Yep, he's never tried to get into the cupboards in the kitchen because he is too busy clinging to my legs as I try to get something done for 5 minutes.

What are you guys doing for stocking stuffers for the 18 month (give or take) kiddos? I've got plenty for DS1 but for DS2 all I've come up with is a new coloring book and crayons.

Matchbox cars (the 3+ ones, not the 6-8+). He just loves them. Well do a book or two as well. I should note that DS1 was not into cars so we don’t have any. His were all wooden trains that go to his sets

We have a naked tree this year. Maybe I can blame it on the kids, but tbh I'm just feeling really really lazy.

If you guys are looking to do something festive with your LOs I HIGHLY recommend making peanut butter blossoms with them.
Last year DD was 20mo and I gave her the task of unwrapping the Hershey kisses. She ate a couple but then I would tell her if she kept eating them she couldn't help. She'd stop for a while and eat another. I think she ate like 5 kisses. BUT she was entertained and QUIET and happy and moderately helpful enough that I was able to bake a double batch without a kid hanging off of me. I was pretty much done by the time she had finished unwrapping them all. I plan on doing it again this year.

The whining is the worst. It spikes my anxiety so bad. We had santa tell her that being good meant no whining. I'm expecting that to last maybe a day.
