@starzia, I used the same pump for all three kids. Granted the kids were all back-to-back and I only pumped three times a day... I did end up with a new to me pump near the end of kid#3 though. If my insurance would have paid for pumps, I would have got new pumps with every kid but at $300 each... That a lot of diapers.

I was going to use the same pump, but insurance started covering while I was pregnant with my second, so my provider convinced me to get one "for backup."
I ended up leaving one in my office and keeping one at home.

I used the same pump, granted I didn't use it long so it doesn't have much wear and tear.
If your insurance covers a new pump and you don't need it, you can contact a local women's shelter to see if they could take it as a donation.

I have a random question so here is a random thread. For hose who had 2 kids. Did you get a second pump ? Did you try a new one or get a second one of the same thing so you more of the same gear ? I got a new pump of the same variety. So I could reuse all the pumping stuff I hoarded. I didn't need to as it turns out but I EPed with my first and they say the engines or whatever on pumps are only meant to last through so much use. My insurance covered it though. I doubt I would have gotten a new one if it wasn't covered. I did also get a hand pump and a haakaa that I didn't have for my first baby. Both were used more than the electric pump (sahm).

Anyone toddler proof their Christmas tree? DD is so into plants and trees that I know a Christmas tree is going to mesmerize her. I’m thinking of putting a cute picket fence around it. 🤷🏽♀️

Turns out we didn't really need them because other than the first few days DD didn't give a care about the tree. I recommend putting bells at the bottom so you'll know if she touches it. My biggest concern now is keeping the new cat and the bunnies away from the tree. The little shits are determined to die from ingesting fake tree.

DS2 was only 6 months last year and now he's a feral 18 month old so I foresee a lot of trouble with the tree this year.

Last year she was 6 months old and just looking at the lights and would smile. Now at 18 months old she races across the room when we open the refrigerator so she can pull out items. So I know this tree is going to be a problem. DH said we should put the vacuum cleaner in front of the tree...she is soooo afraid of the vacuum cleaner. 😂😂

sheilathetank, I seem to recall you doing something different for nap time cloth diaper at daycare, is that right? Our daycare is telling me that he soaks through his diaper after nap time and wanted me to send in disposable diapers to use at nap times. I haven't had that problem at home, although he doesn't tend to nap for as long at home as he does at daycare (2.5 hours typically). I could send in one double-stuffed diaper (I also have Kawaii night-time pockets) but then I would have to somehow designate it as such and it seems like that could get confusing. Should I just give it up and send in disposables?

I know they aren't supposed to touch the skin directly but it was only for a few hours and it was the easiest solution for all parties. I made sure they put diaper cream on before to act as barrier. I would send five inserts at the beginning of the week and replenish as needed.

I mostly use bamboo inserts and I think those are okay against the skin. Thanks!

I am debating gating the tree. I think I'll give it a couple more days and see what he does. We put it up Sunday night after he was in bed, so he's only had one day around it. So far, he just pulled off the lower ornaments which we made sure were all things he couldn't hurt and couldn't hurt him. My only real concern is with him not walking that he'll attempt to pull up on the tree and it will come down on top of him.

Our tree goes on our enclosed porch where we don't spend much time in the winter because it's cold. I do need to get a gate for the wood stove but why are the configurable gates so damn expensive? We haven't had a fire yet but I need to suck it up and get one soon.
We've been teaching him "hot" so he wouldn't touch hot things but we also used "hot" for hot foods that needs to cool off before he could eat it and that seems to have backfired because now he thinks everything is hot, like very lukewarm food.
He also says "brr" whenever his mittens fall off or something even though it is clearly not very cold at all. Maybe he is very sensitive or very dramatic or has no clue what he is saying.

piratecat, we need to do something about the fireplace too. Those gates are effing expensive, though! He loves sneaking away from us and banging on the grate, so that obviously needs to be dealt with before it's time to build a fire. Ugh. DS is very dramatic, so that's my vote.

Check Craigslist for the gates. I always see them on there. We got ours as a hand me down.

I found this one for $58 and need to make sure the length will work and probably just get it. The longer ones seem like it would be very versatile and come in handy for something but the shorter one might be just enough for what we currently need.

I looked at the super long one for us, because it could block off the entire front end of the LR where the tree, fireplace, and Blu-ray player all reside (he likes to turn it on every time he thinks we're not looking--turd). It wouldn't be cute, but I know it's temporary.

Ours would be fairly close to the wood stove so the door would be used to access the stove to tend to the fire. But yea, I did specifically look for gates without the bar on the bottom for our stair - that seems especially hazardous at the stair.

I've looked at some freestanding ones but I think I need to mount it to the wall so he doesn't pull it down.

She just pushed them out of the way. The only one we have and still use is the one at the top of the stairs. Fucking toddlers.
